Huffton Posted 11 January, 2018 Posted 11 January, 2018 Reading the Ballotelli thread has got me thinking, what was the loudest cheer at SMS? Camaras winner against Norwich? Rickie equalising against the skates in the cup game? Manes winner against Liverhampton when we came back from 2 down?
beavis17 Posted 11 January, 2018 Posted 11 January, 2018 Camara's for me. Never heard anything like that.
Pilchards Posted 11 January, 2018 Posted 11 January, 2018 Katharina Liebherr selling her 80% stake in the club
Charlie Wayman Posted 11 January, 2018 Posted 11 January, 2018 The spontaneous roar from every stand after Boufal's wonder goal against WBA. Nothing else in all my years attending has come evenly remotely close to that.
Dan Johnson Posted 11 January, 2018 Posted 11 January, 2018 Camara's for me. Never heard anything like that. 100% never been matched
simo Posted 11 January, 2018 Posted 11 January, 2018 Stern John's second made some noise in the Northam !
John Boy Saint Posted 11 January, 2018 Posted 11 January, 2018 Camara v Norwich there was an immense amount of emotion, passion and relief from the stands as that Daisy cutter hit the back of the net.
Kingsland Red Posted 11 January, 2018 Posted 11 January, 2018 I reckon the Camara winner against Norwich, the stadium was rocking until well past the final whistle after the initial roar.
ant Posted 11 January, 2018 Posted 11 January, 2018 Answer's already been nailed. Honourable mention for Forte's second against MK Dons though. Very loud and seemed to sustain for the rest of the match.
Cabrone Posted 11 January, 2018 Posted 11 January, 2018 Yes, the Camara goal was the loudest I've heard. SMS was like a pressure cooker as the game ebbed and flowed - thought the roof was going to blow off that afternoon.
Bad Wolf Posted 11 January, 2018 Posted 11 January, 2018 Lambert Vs Skatesmuff was absolutely deafening.
jamesd6 Posted 11 January, 2018 Posted 11 January, 2018 Dunno about loudest but I'll always remember the buzz around the stadium during the 8-0 battering of Sunderland. A happier time. Sent from my F8331 using Tapatalk
S-Clarke Posted 11 January, 2018 Posted 11 January, 2018 Camara for me. But also when we came from behind to be Liverpool 3-2 was pretty epic with a late Mane goal late on. I remember the ground shaking in the kingsland.
for_heaven's_Saint Posted 11 January, 2018 Posted 11 January, 2018 Camara's for me. Never heard anything like that. This!
GGalpin Posted 11 January, 2018 Posted 11 January, 2018 Reading the Ballotelli thread has got me thinking, what was the loudest cheer at SMS? Camaras winner against Norwich? Rickie equalising against the skates in the cup game? Manes winner against Liverhampton when we came back from 2 down? Might just be my own opinion, but Pellè's equaliser seemed louder. I'd probably say Mane's hattrick is up there too
Stud mark of doom Posted 11 January, 2018 Posted 11 January, 2018 Definitely camera, by some margin. I ended up about 10 yards down the aisle from my seat, with about 10 people, most of whom I didn’t know on the floor in the aftermath - and that was in the Itchen!
View From The Top Posted 11 January, 2018 Posted 11 January, 2018 Wolves in the FAC quarter final in 2003 is right up there IMHO.
doddisalegend Posted 11 January, 2018 Posted 11 January, 2018 Answer's already been nailed. Honourable mention for Forte's second against MK Dons though. Very loud and seemed to sustain for the rest of the match. yep that was a good one I think that game was the point you knew we were going back up.
doddisalegend Posted 11 January, 2018 Posted 11 January, 2018 It's not a goal but I seem to remember it being pretty bloody loud as we invaded the pitch after smashing Coventry 4-0 last day of the 2011-12 season
Didcot Saint Posted 11 January, 2018 Posted 11 January, 2018 Camera without a doubt. Pity it was in vain after the relegation. So desperate to avoid that horrible empty feeling again.
aintforever Posted 11 January, 2018 Posted 11 January, 2018 Has to be Camera’s but Beattie’s opener in the 2-0 v the Skates must be close. It had been 16 years since the last derby and the atmosphere was electric that night.
scotty Posted 11 January, 2018 Posted 11 January, 2018 Chaplows screamer against mu? That was pretty damn loud.
benjii Posted 11 January, 2018 Posted 11 January, 2018 The Johhno Forte match when Barnard scored the third has to be up there too. http://news.bbc.co.uk/sport1/hi/football/eng_div_2/9436579.stm
yellow&blue Posted 11 January, 2018 Posted 11 January, 2018 When these two successfully campaigned against the car park charges for the club shop by handing back their season tickets.......
Miltonaggro Posted 11 January, 2018 Posted 11 January, 2018 When these two successfully campaigned against the car park charges for the club shop by handing back their season tickets....... That was the winner of the longest whine rather than the loudest cheer!
niceandfriendly Posted 12 January, 2018 Posted 12 January, 2018 Goals for Saints seem to get the loudest cheer at St Mary's. Away goals also get a loud cheer but away teams have smaller supporter numbers so the cheer for those goals, whereas still loud, aren't as loud as Southampton Football Club goals.
TotalSaintsPod Posted 12 January, 2018 Posted 12 January, 2018 Rickie scoring the first goal against MK Dons in the JPT Semi-Final, 2010. St Mary’s was almost entirely filled with Saints fans - very excited (and relieved) ones when that first goal went in on our way to Wembley.
Nordic Saint Posted 12 January, 2018 Posted 12 January, 2018 Sheffield United manager Kevin Blackwell: "It was an incredible atmosphere." It's not often visiting managers say that about St Mary's. Stern John's winning goal and the final minutes of the 3-2 win v Sheffield United in May 2008 has to be up there. When Gabbiadini scored his second goal at Wembley and the minutes just after that reminded me of it.
Ekelund24 Posted 12 January, 2018 Posted 12 January, 2018 Pahars v the Skates, surely? Agree with this one, although Camara's goal was on par
kwsaint Posted 12 January, 2018 Posted 12 January, 2018 Camara's for me. Never heard anything like that. Completely agree. Loudest I have ever known SMS Billy Sharp's second goal against Pompey in 2012 comes a close second.
Super_Uwe Posted 12 January, 2018 Posted 12 January, 2018 Personally the loudest I remember was after Telfer's lob against Newcastle in 2002. Last minute cracker when we were down to 10 men thanks to new boots Tahar and his unforgettable red card!
John Boy Saint Posted 12 January, 2018 Posted 12 January, 2018 Personally the loudest I remember was after Telfer's lob against Newcastle in 2002. Last minute cracker when we were down to 10 men thanks to new boots Tahar and his unforgettable red card! Tahar taking out 60 Clicks was most enjoyable, what was even more enjoyable was the silly sod buggered himself up even more by making out that he was travelling at 1000mph when contact was made and rolled over about 30 times just to make sure Tahar got sent off but stuffing his knees up in the process (probably told Tahar how much he earned when he went over to apologise) ............... downside was that sending off prevented Matty making his final official outing as a Saints player.
Charlie Wayman Posted 12 January, 2018 Posted 12 January, 2018 Martina's wonder strike against Arsenal deserves a worthy mention. Shocked silence followed by huge roar.
John Boy Saint Posted 12 January, 2018 Posted 12 January, 2018 Martina's wonder strike against Arsenal deserves a worthy mention. Shocked silence followed by huge roar. That was a bit like Chris Bairds howitzer against Cardiff (?) free kick outside the box, it might have been Bale instead of going for goal made like he passed it to Surman who appeared to fluff it producing mass groans from everyone in the stands only for Baird to absolutely hammer it from outside the box into the back of the net like a missile. "Oh..........wtf.......Groan..wtf......Stunned Silence........Cheers".
100%Red&White Posted 12 January, 2018 Posted 12 January, 2018 I think it was the 'Camara' match that Jamie Redknapp described the noise as the loudest he'd ever experienced This won't give much of an idea of the full effect but [video=youtube;UoUOD-h6N6w]

But totally contrasting emotions - The anxiety of the final minutes against Sheffield when we defended the edge of the penalty area against a never ending barrage of crosses, and the joy and dancing around after Gabba's equaliser
