simo Posted 25 January, 2018 Posted 25 January, 2018 If he’s there now, it’ll take a few days for he announcement videos. Gone are the days of a simple press conference unveiling. Guess it depends on when we can find a gap in the diary of the SBS and the L.S.O to film the signing video !? (Or maybe we'll knock up another fancy cartoon?)

benjii Posted 25 January, 2018 Posted 25 January, 2018 If he’s there now, it’ll take a few days for he announcement videos. Gone are the days of a simple press conference unveiling. Announcement is coming up any second bro!
Simon3737 Posted 25 January, 2018 Posted 25 January, 2018 His lawyers will also need a couple of days to go through the five pledges line by line, to make sure he can sign up to them. So far, his lawyers have agreed to “supporting colleagues” and “embracing change”, but they need more discussion about “valuing diversity”...
SuperSAINT Posted 25 January, 2018 Author Posted 25 January, 2018 (edited) @Southampton FC: Southampton Football Club is delighted to announce the signing of striker Guido Carrillo from AS Monaco. https://southamptonfc.com/news/2018-01-25/announcement-guido-carrillo-southampton-signing Edited 25 January, 2018 by SuperSAINT
Badger Posted 25 January, 2018 Posted 25 January, 2018 At £19m, I can't help thinking we could have done better for our money. Van Hanegem mentioned a Feyenoord striker linked with Newcastle. Having looked at the brief Youtube clips (yes, okay I know can't be relied upon but..) and read about him he did seem to have a bit more about his game than Carillo. Although to balance that perhaps Carillo hasn't had as much opportunity to showcase his talents at Monaco. So just have to trust Pellegrino's judgement.
Saint_Ash Posted 25 January, 2018 Posted 25 January, 2018 Welcome Guido. Score goals, simple as that.
Saint Albert Posted 25 January, 2018 Posted 25 January, 2018 @Southampton FC: Southampton Football Club is delighted to announce the signing of striker Guido Carrillo from AS Monaco. https://southamptonfc.com/news/2018-01-25/announcement-guido-carrillo-southampton-signing Welcome, Saint Guido! ps please score some goals for us.
Batman Posted 25 January, 2018 Posted 25 January, 2018 anyone know what number he is or likely to be?
Appy Posted 25 January, 2018 Posted 25 January, 2018 anyone know what number he is or likely to be? 9 I’d imagine.
Saint_Ash Posted 25 January, 2018 Posted 25 January, 2018 Interesting that it wasn't mentioned that he was our record signing. They do when it is...
SuperSAINT Posted 25 January, 2018 Author Posted 25 January, 2018 Now that one deal is done, we can now focus on the next one. (Because we can only focus on one deal at a time) #MLG
krissyboy31 Posted 25 January, 2018 Posted 25 January, 2018 anyone know what number he is or likely to be?
Lighthouse Posted 25 January, 2018 Posted 25 January, 2018 Great, now stick him up front and have Tadic, Gabbi and JWP in behind.
Guan 2.0 Posted 25 January, 2018 Posted 25 January, 2018 We did incredibly well to sign him, when so many other clubs were interested, and he was such a bargain price. Seriously though, score the goals that keep us up please.
OttawaSaint Posted 25 January, 2018 Posted 25 January, 2018 Cheesy video on FB with dramatic music and dry ice. GOALS please!
doddisalegend Posted 25 January, 2018 Posted 25 January, 2018 Lets hope he has the desired effect I'm hoping he is going to be Lambertesque with his head it would be nice to have a forward who attacks the back post with bullet headers.
Ewell Posted 25 January, 2018 Posted 25 January, 2018 So was he one of the top targets on the famous black box and would we have signed him if Pellegrino wasn't in charge? Answers on a postcard please but somehow I think not.
John Boy Saint Posted 25 January, 2018 Posted 25 January, 2018 Not a lot of people know this but he cost 47.5 Kevin Keegans............ just hope the 0.50 isn't the perm but the boots to rattle them in with.
Saint Albert Posted 25 January, 2018 Posted 25 January, 2018 We did incredibly well to sign him, when so many other clubs were interested, and he was such a bargain price. Seriously though, score the goals that keep us up please. We did seem to have a clear run at this signing based on the noise in the media. Palace were credited with being interested in him back in December.
St Chalet Posted 25 January, 2018 Posted 25 January, 2018 3.5 year deal. So that’s 18 months if he’s any good and 3.5 years if he’s Gashton.
John Boy Saint Posted 25 January, 2018 Posted 25 January, 2018 Signed in time for Saturday? Going on the media chit chat when Sanchez had to sign for Utd to get in their FA cup squad I think he has.................... but he will need at least 3 weeks acclimatisation. oooops forgot this:D
Saint Albert Posted 25 January, 2018 Posted 25 January, 2018 3.5 year deal. So that’s 18 months if he’s any good and 3.5 years if he’s Gashton. Seems a little short. I was getting used to the 5 year contracts.
doddisalegend Posted 25 January, 2018 Posted 25 January, 2018 So was he one of the top targets on the famous black box and would we have signed him if Pellegrino wasn't in charge? Answers on a postcard please but somehow I think not. Remember the black box always gives the manager a choice of targets in each position its just that the manager, somehow, always choose the one he has already worked with... Out of interest if the black box finds the best options for each position when we typed in striker did not it come up with Harry Kane? I can just see MoPe going "yes Kane will do make it happen please Les"
Saint_Ash Posted 25 January, 2018 Posted 25 January, 2018 Has he been injured for last few weeks or rested? Hopefully the latter and we can see him on the bench.
Donatello Posted 25 January, 2018 Posted 25 January, 2018 Needed a target man, got a target man. Let's wait and see if he's the right target man.
Greenridge Posted 25 January, 2018 Posted 25 January, 2018 So was he one of the top targets on the famous black box and would we have signed him if Pellegrino wasn't in charge? Answers on a postcard please but somehow I think not. Just coincidence. Same as Koeman with Tadic, Classic and Pelle and Puel with Pied. Just coincidence you cynic. Let's go Guido. Goals it is.
angelman Posted 25 January, 2018 Posted 25 January, 2018 Couldn’t be less excited about a record signing **** me. Why not write him off before he kicks a ball!!? As a Saints supporter, I am always interested and excited about a new player. Sometimes it works, sometimes it doesn't. Welcome Guido Carrillo
Donatello Posted 25 January, 2018 Posted 25 January, 2018 Seems a little short. I was getting used to the 5 year contracts. Quiet. Maybe it's a reflection of the fact that we've allowed a manager in a tenuous position to select a player of his choosing, and we don't want to get saddled with him (Carrillo) long-term in the event that Pellegrino is gone by the end of the season/next 12 months...whilst at the same time protecting his value as an asset somewhat.
angelman Posted 25 January, 2018 Posted 25 January, 2018 £20m being the new £10m, he is cheaper than Shane Long.
nta786 Posted 25 January, 2018 Posted 25 January, 2018 Couldn’t be less excited about a record signing yep. but i will support him and give him the time he needs to get used to PL football. just hope that our fans don't boo him the way Pelle was booed after a 0-0 vs WBA back in 2014/15.
doddisalegend Posted 25 January, 2018 Posted 25 January, 2018 Couldn’t be less excited about a record signing Record signings aren't what they used to be with the inflation in transfer fees every second player you buy seems to be a record fee these days. Oh for the days of Rory Delap..
Saint Albert Posted 25 January, 2018 Posted 25 January, 2018 @Southampton FC: Southampton Football Club is delighted to announce the signing of striker Guido Carrillo from AS Monaco. https://southamptonfc.com/news/2018-01-25/announcement-guido-carrillo-southampton-signing Les only ever seems to pop his head above the parapets when we’ve signed someone.
Saint_Ash Posted 25 January, 2018 Posted 25 January, 2018 **** me. Why not write him off before he kicks a ball!!? As a Saints supporter, I am always interested and excited about a new player. Sometimes it works, sometimes it doesn't. Welcome Guido Carrillo Typical of this place though. I'm looking forward to seeing him play, hopefully can be similar to Lambert.
angelman Posted 25 January, 2018 Posted 25 January, 2018 Typical of this place though. I'm looking forward to seeing him play, hopefully can be similar to Lambert. Anything short of Messi, and you'll get someone whinging. Maybe even with Messi they would!
Jack Posted 25 January, 2018 Posted 25 January, 2018 **** me. Why not write him off before he kicks a ball!!? As a Saints supporter, I am always interested and excited about a new player. Sometimes it works, sometimes it doesn't. Welcome Guido Carrillo I didn’t say I’m writing him off, I said I’m not excited about it. I’m also not excited about the rest of the season, our manager, our board, our owners, or championship football next season.
angelman Posted 25 January, 2018 Posted 25 January, 2018 I didn’t say I’m writing him off, I said I’m not excited about it. I’m also not excited about the rest of the season, our manager, our board, our owners, or championship football next season. Not having a go at you, but if there is no excitement, then what is the point of it all? Maybe you don't go to the games, but I have a ST so have to be positive about it, otherwise I wouldn't bother going.
Mr X Posted 25 January, 2018 Posted 25 January, 2018 Wish him well & hope he's good, but can't help feeling it will be another disaster to add to the list, hope I'm wrong, would you trust pellegrinos judgement? Seems lots of clubs were queuing up for his signature, we need goals, we already have two strikers with poor goal records Sent from my Moto G (4) using Tapatalk
Suhari Posted 25 January, 2018 Posted 25 January, 2018 Couldn’t be less excited about a record signing I feel the same. Was very excited about Boufal, and Lemina. Sadly this feels meh. I HOPE I am proved to be a cynical, unknowing fool and he turns out to be brilliant.
aintforever Posted 25 January, 2018 Posted 25 January, 2018 I guess that means our genius manager is not going anywhere. Probably too late to sack now anyway, just have to hope Les knows what he’s doing.
Graffito Posted 25 January, 2018 Posted 25 January, 2018 Typical of this place though. I'm looking forward to seeing him play, hopefully can be similar to Lambert. I took a look at one of his YouTube clips earlier. If we’re making comparisons, he seemed to me more Pelle than Lambert. I don’t care if he’s paddy mcginty’s donkey as long as he sticks the ball in the net.
Suhari Posted 25 January, 2018 Posted 25 January, 2018 But anyway.... ... Welcome Guido, and good luck!
Baird of the land Posted 25 January, 2018 Posted 25 January, 2018 Well we’ll see how he does. It is a lot of money. Needs to be an instant success given the situation too, so he’s got no time to adapt to premier league.
