St Lej Posted 2 January, 2018 Share Posted 2 January, 2018 What is Pellegrino doing so well that warrants being public backing by the board, when Puel was sacked for a far far better overall performance? It is upper hypocrisy and in my opinion is purely because Pellegrino is Puel's successor and Reed's pride and ego is way too big to admit he made another mistake. No sh1t you may say, well in that case how the hell can Reed keep his job if he's putting his own pride before the obvious good of the entire football club and potential loss of millions of pounds, staff jobs, wage cuts, etc etc. It's an utter disgrace and it's now come to the point (especially of Krueger's insulting rallying call interview) to get tough on the manager and board. This can not go on, we had enough of this utter ****e under Lowe.
SOTONS EAST SIDE Posted 2 January, 2018 Share Posted 2 January, 2018 Ralph relies on Les. Les relies on his EGO!
stknowle Posted 2 January, 2018 Share Posted 2 January, 2018 I found it odd enough he got backing from a few fans. Always asked what the positives were, rather than the excuses but no one ever said. To be backed by the board for 4 wins in 22 games and the most favourable home fixtures going...it's embarrassing. What would it have taken to act? 3 wins? 2? 1? None? It's unbelievable it really is. If we at least it looked like there was a plan coming together and we'd been unlucky in a few games. But there's just nothing to be positive about, zero. Why would you persist with someone like that? Suhari Posted 2 January, 2018 Share Posted 2 January, 2018 It's incredible. I wonder if Les and co have been influenced by Burnley.......get a manager you believe in, stick with him and he'll come good (in the long term). Except....... we're a top 8 club!! Perhaps we simply have zero funds and can't afford to get rid, or to employ better?!
LGTL Posted 2 January, 2018 Share Posted 2 January, 2018 They don't really rate him, it's just a face saving exercise from people on massive salaries who, lets be honest, couldn't give a flying one what happens to us.

Saint-Fred Posted 3 January, 2018 Share Posted 3 January, 2018 I can’t believe we have zero funds after selling VVD. We have a 200 million pound debt to service that we didn't have a year ago.

Had some good times out of it but reality now bites. Will take more than administration to free us this time. Could be in Phoenix club territory

Mr GAO borrowed against his assets outside china personally due to diifculties getting his money out of China. The club has no such liability. Face saving? I hope they realise it’s not going to look good on them if the club goes down under their leadership.

Puel should not have been sacked really. The club made what I think will be proven to be decent signings in Hoedt and Lemina, and should have found a way to bring in one decent attacking player as well. Our squad is not great by any means, but there is enough quality in it that we should be doing better. That's down to the useless manager.

OK fair enough...but does it mean our owner then has a 200 million pound debt to service and I assume that the money to service that is expected to come from the club then? He must be expecting some sort of bang for his Buck?

jasonb Posted 3 January, 2018 Share Posted 3 January, 2018 Well, that escalated quickly. I'm sure the poster you replied to didn't mean to be quite so Doomsday scenario. However, it does have the whiff off the 'end of something' about it. I usually start to worry when the upper management start talking about things being great from a business perspective. It usually means the opposite and they are preparing people. Of course, they are also trying to keep things together in an attempt to get out of the situation. My antenna is most definitely in probing position.

That said, I still think that everyone involved wants us to remain in this division, and they are allowed to believe that sticking with Pellegrino is the best way to achieve that. They're wrong but they are allowed to believe it. So, much like the lunatic paranoid torment from four years ago (asset strip! asset strip!) turned out to be utter bol locks the same applies now. There's no asset strip that was planned all along. The manager and team are just more sh it that was planned. And lastly we are allowed to just be relegated. Lots of clubs get relegated and none of them instantly go bust and require bucket rattling formation of a bloody pheonix club. We are allowed just be relegated and be championship club like Ipswich and Leeds and Forest and the rest. Seems to me some fans are more excited by the prospect of meetings in Social Clubs to discuss potential crest designs for Pheonix AFC Southampton than they are about us qualifying for Europe. John Boy Saint Posted 3 January, 2018 Share Posted 3 January, 2018 Maybe the contracts Les and Ralf are on are rolling ones but like the managers (football always has been run in a weird way) and given the clap trap spouted by Ralf yesterday, which at times sounded like he was sticking his head right above the parapet. Sack me pay me (us) up for the remains of the contract as we aint likely to get as well paid a job as this in the future. None of this is fact just a random thought, slightly triggered by reading into the Ralf interview.
