Where is Ralph Krueger in all this mess?

Don't know if this has been posted before but there was a recent article in the Express about the policy of secrecy that pervades the club:

Bit harsh on the media man there, can only imagine the orders of secrecy come from on high, and the football side will close ranks and not allow any access. We march on to becoming a secretive non family club that was once a selling point.

Whilst it could be said that the article is poorly written and/or targetting the wrong man, there is some credence in the underlying point being made IMO. We do seem to have gone from a club that regularly sung facets of the 'Southampton Story' from the rooftops to a club that now keeps things closer to its chest. Whether that's got more to do with our new owner coming on board and Katharina taking a back seat, or its more to do with our poor form this season, who knows? Or, it might just be a coincidence or just a mis-perception on my behalf.

Could it be that after Mr Gao undertaking due diligence on the club and then buying his 80%, he is now going through every aspect of the club before speaking of his plans. Could it be he is trying to walk before he runs.

If i had invest £220m in a football club I would be looking at it in depth before making claims of plans that are unachievable.

Mr. Gao does not appear to be someone that has purchased a premier league club just so he can shout and boast about it. So has he bought it to make money? Having spent £220M there is no guarantee that he will get his money back very quickly. If he asset strips and we get relegated. It may be just about possible to get his money back from the league position money, TV, parachute payments and selling the club. But that will not be particularly easy to make a profit. Who would want to buy us, other than at a knock down price. Bills and taxes still have to be paid.

So if Mr Gao isn't here to shout about it or make a 'quick buck', then why is he here? Could it be he is formatting a long term sustainable business plan whether that be on similar lines to the existing model of selling best players at top dollar or something entirely new, whether that includes the existing board or an entirely new one (including the other 20% owner KL).

Lets hope in the meantime we can survive this season and we start to hear what is in store for us as Saints fans.

Who knows possibly in Canadia he is only a part time Chairman after all ! How many other football clubs have chairmen who take breaks to coach ice hockey teams? Isn't being chairman of a premier league club an important full time job , what does he actually do a part from face the media when the **** storm rolls in ?

This thread is ridiculous.

You don't see the west brom/Bournemouth chairman, or chairman of the other clubs around us, out in the press spouting off or trying to explain their current predicament so why the expectation that Krueger would?!

Rubbish - ish.

John Williams (West Brom chairman)

You might be right about Jeff Mostyn recently, he used to be a big mouth and always in the news but has been very quiet since he had heart surgery in June.

Krueger has always been a disaster waiting to happen, goes to ground when things start going a bit Pete Tong. Still maybe he is off motivating people by playing the awful My Way song.

The Bournemouth chairman writes a page in every match day programme.

And the same applies to Gao

Really nice guy and really smart guy, but he was there because Katharina trusted him to sort out a period of upheaval. We should be thankful for the stability he brought, but I think he'll soon be moving on. His heart is in hockey and he's extremely well regarded, so he'll be snapped up as soon as he makes himself available.

The problem is that the Gao family know as much about football and football people as Katharina, so they're going to need someone they trust as well. I don't think that's Reed, although they might.

As frustrating as he may be for some of you, this might be a case of "be careful what you wish for".
