kwsaint Posted 27 December, 2017 Posted 27 December, 2017 WGS? Left Scotland and would kick them into gear.
hypochondriac Posted 27 December, 2017 Posted 27 December, 2017 Martin O'Neil? Tuchel? WGS? Michael O'Neil? Will probably be a middling manager from Europe though.
Wade Garrett Posted 27 December, 2017 Posted 27 December, 2017 (edited) Add to the list:Bielsa, Van Gaal, Blanc and Koeman. Edited 27 December, 2017 by Wade Garrett
Dalek2003 Posted 27 December, 2017 Posted 27 December, 2017 Martin O'Neil? Tuchel? WGS? Michael O'Neil? Will probably be a middling manager from Europe though. Any of those.
Window Cleaner Posted 27 December, 2017 Posted 27 December, 2017 Add to the listBielsaVan GaalBlancKoeman Bielsa is trouble, Blanc would not even consider a club like Saints. There are no realistic options available, we'll stick with what we have for the time being I expect.
S-Clarke Posted 27 December, 2017 Posted 27 December, 2017 I honestly don't think anything is about to change in this regard.
captain sensible Posted 27 December, 2017 Author Posted 27 December, 2017 Cannot see Koeman returning...left under a cloud! WGS...cannot see him kow towing to Les Reed!
Pamplemousse Posted 27 December, 2017 Posted 27 December, 2017 Martin O'Neil? Tuchel? WGS? Michael O'Neil? Will probably be a middling manager from Europe though. I’d take Michael O’Neill Although he might play a declining Davis in every match
Saint Pete Posted 27 December, 2017 Posted 27 December, 2017 Martin O'Neil? Tuchel? WGS? Michael O'Neil? Will probably be a middling manager from Europe though. My assumption is Tuchel is out of our range, and Michael O'Neill not experienced enough at this level. I would be happy with WGS or Martin O'Neill though as they would fit the bill as the kind of experienced heads we need in this situation. Sent from my Moto G (4) using Tapatalk
captain sensible Posted 27 December, 2017 Author Posted 27 December, 2017 As much as I love the initial clamour for a WGS return...it cannot happen! I have it on good authority that there is a quantity of yoghurt approaching its sell by date in his fridge...and...Les Reed runs the show! WGS would not put up with any interference or Augustin Delgado's. End of! We need some european candidates and possibly a few english ones.
Saint_clark Posted 27 December, 2017 Posted 27 December, 2017 I’d take Michael O’Neill Although he might play a declining Davis in every match But he might also get him putting in the inspired performances he does for his country. I don't like the sound of him, anyway. Chris Wilder for me.
Badger Posted 27 December, 2017 Posted 27 December, 2017 Not sure WGS would be the 'impact manager' we might need for a short term fix to the end of the season. Long term he hasn't really shown a lot since leaving us either. Great whilst here but that was in excess of 10 years ago.
Saint Matty 76 Posted 27 December, 2017 Posted 27 December, 2017 Peter Bosz Thomas Tuchel Eddie Howe Andre Villas-Boas
S-Clarke Posted 27 December, 2017 Posted 27 December, 2017 Villas-Boas is not an avaliable candidate. He's quit football and is due in South America next month as a Racing Driver.
captain sensible Posted 27 December, 2017 Author Posted 27 December, 2017 Tuchel is a very credible option.
davefizzy14 Posted 27 December, 2017 Posted 27 December, 2017 Tuchel with a nice transfer kitty to spend!
sadoldgit Posted 27 December, 2017 Posted 27 December, 2017 Tuchel apparently ruled himself out before and is waiting for a big club.
Saint Albert Posted 27 December, 2017 Posted 27 December, 2017 Some managers like to have a say in transfers. They may not want to come to Saints if we keep Pellegrino, buy the new players, realize Pellegrino is still a crap manager and then begin to recruit for a new manager.
Disco Stu Posted 27 December, 2017 Posted 27 December, 2017 I don't trust the board to sack our current useless manager, let alone appoint a decent one in his place.
OldNick Posted 27 December, 2017 Posted 27 December, 2017 Left side choice, Dean Smith, he has made Brentford a pretty good footballing team. Hell of a risk and not a big name to please the fans
Give it to Ron Posted 27 December, 2017 Posted 27 December, 2017 Left side choice, Dean Smith, he has made Brentford a pretty good footballing team. mrfahaji Posted 27 December, 2017 Posted 27 December, 2017 Serious = not someone who has already been manager.
SNSUN Posted 27 December, 2017 Posted 27 December, 2017 Left side choice, Dean Smith, he has made Brentford a pretty good footballing team. Hell of a risk and not a big name to please the fans None of these up and coming managers fills me with confidence, this is not the job currently for someone to try their hand at the big league. We are looking over our shoulder at the relegation zone, with a squad full of decent players but with big egos. We need an experienced manager, preferably a big name or someone respected, maybe even someone with Premier League experience, that can whip this team into shape. My first choice is Rodgers. He can coach, he's been at big clubs, and he's turned Celtic into a strong team. I just think he fits. The question with him would be getting him... I think he'd be reluctant to leave Celtic. After that it gets tougher, I would have Koeman back but be wouldn't be a popular choice. After that it's slim pickings. Personally I think we'll have Pellegrino longer than we all think, and that worries me.

Bobbyboy Posted 27 December, 2017 Posted 27 December, 2017 Tuchel apparently ruled himself out before and is waiting for a big club. I was thinking about this. If every man has a price, what's his? if nothing else we can show we're a proven stepping-stone club... if you do well of course... how much would it take to get him? Not that I really hold out any hope of getting rid of the current manager any time soon :-(
saint lard Posted 27 December, 2017 Posted 27 December, 2017 What are the main reasons no one else considers Luis Enrique an option? Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
Convict Colony Posted 27 December, 2017 Posted 27 December, 2017 personally we need a tony soprano to whip us into shape
davefoggy Posted 27 December, 2017 Posted 27 December, 2017 Brendan Rogers please. But we would never get him

Glen Hoddle, with Eileen Drury stepping into Les’s boots?
Convict Colony Posted 27 December, 2017 Posted 27 December, 2017 Ok so current rumours: Montella looks like he is favourite to go to Sevilla. Mancini from Zenit to Milan Tuchel to Bayern at end of season Ajax getting Ten Hag
captainchris Posted 27 December, 2017 Posted 27 December, 2017 Glen Hoddle, with Eileen Drury stepping into Les’s boots? Epic!
Convict Colony Posted 27 December, 2017 Posted 27 December, 2017 Arteta. Like your thinking no chance of it happening though

S-Clarke Posted 27 December, 2017 Posted 27 December, 2017 I'd approach Newcastle for Rafa Given how he's set Newcastle up against City, I'm not sure he'd be any bit different to what we've had. Meet the new boss, same as the old boss.
Monk Posted 27 December, 2017 Posted 27 December, 2017 Patrick Viera Mikael Arteta Peter Bosz Louis Van Gaal Ronald Koeman Chris Wilder Gary Rowett Marcelo Bielsa Vincenzo Montella Brendan Rogers
Doctoroncall Posted 27 December, 2017 Posted 27 December, 2017 Tuchel apparently ruled himself out before and is waiting for a big club. Question is why... not enough money? the current hierarchy? Another club? He would certainly be my choice.
Convict Colony Posted 27 December, 2017 Posted 27 December, 2017 went hunting for an update on how Viera sets out his teams in New York and found this very nice article. Fraser would be joe hart'ed out of our side asap if we get Patrick http://outsideoftheboot.com/2017/09/29/tactical-philosophy-patrick-viera/
captain sensible Posted 27 December, 2017 Author Posted 27 December, 2017 So far...and as far as I can see...none of the suggestions...and there are a lot of credible ones...fit in with what Les Reed has historically appointed? Niche, upcoming & european/south american. He is not going to go with someone who is going to argue with him all day long. That is why Koeman wont come back. I suspect Les has probably looked at the Tuchel option, but is in all likelihood as stumped as we all currently are for a credible option? Rodgers is a good shout...but again, compensation and I don't see the heavily leveraged Gao family entertaining that option without exhausting other possibilities?
SaintRichard Posted 27 December, 2017 Posted 27 December, 2017 Ron K for me too, he must regret having left to the Toffees
Pamplemousse Posted 27 December, 2017 Posted 27 December, 2017 Hiddink as interim manager? If he’s interested of course.
SKD Posted 27 December, 2017 Posted 27 December, 2017 (edited) Patrick Viera Mikael Arteta Peter Bosz Louis Van Gaal Ronald Koeman Chris Wilder Gary Rowett Marcelo Bielsa Vincenzo Montella Brendan Rogers Done a lot of research on Viera in the summer and wanted him (after Tuchel) to take over. I don’t think it would be the right fit now though, unless we are willing to take a gamble and keep him for 2+ Years, regardless what happens this season. Same for Arteta, I guess. Rowett & Wilder would be vgood if we are to drop. Edited 27 December, 2017 by SKD
Fatboy40 Posted 27 December, 2017 Posted 27 December, 2017 I'd offer a package too good to refuse to Patrick Vieira to get him back in the U.K., sort out a house for him and his wife, roll out the red carpet to tempt him.
