K,Billy's supersound Posted 23 December, 2017 Posted 23 December, 2017 Retrospective ban for Austin Totally no need for it. When did we turn in to team of total ****s? time wasting, fouling, diving and mouthy? not nice to watch us atm.
OttawaSaint Posted 23 December, 2017 Posted 23 December, 2017 Ugh! Austin in the perfect spot to do the Sterling curler, takes extra touches, chance gone.
striker Posted 23 December, 2017 Posted 23 December, 2017 Huddersfield players don'e seem to think it was intentional based on their reactions.
Saint Albert Posted 23 December, 2017 Posted 23 December, 2017 The goalie almost gifted Austin a goal.
Dalek2003 Posted 23 December, 2017 Posted 23 December, 2017 We really could do with that second goal.
Saint Albert Posted 23 December, 2017 Posted 23 December, 2017 Another decent move but Redmond’s long shot is weak and right at the keeper.
austsaint Posted 23 December, 2017 Posted 23 December, 2017 Redmond.. Boufal would have lashed that in. He would have. Lemina is a bright spot for Saints today.
shurlock Posted 23 December, 2017 Posted 23 December, 2017 Been much the better side since the injury and break in play.
ALWAYS_SFC Posted 23 December, 2017 Posted 23 December, 2017 Huddersfield players don'e seem to think it was intentional based on their reactions. Yep but our fans love to slag a player off...
Pamplemousse Posted 23 December, 2017 Posted 23 December, 2017 Slowed down it looks bad but at full speed I’m not convinced it was deliberate. Only Austin knows for sure.
OttawaSaint Posted 23 December, 2017 Posted 23 December, 2017 Redmond. Just not that bright. Laces through the first one, quick through ball for the second and we would be cruising at 3-0.
5string Posted 23 December, 2017 Posted 23 December, 2017 Huddersfield players don'e seem to think it was intentional based on their reactions. Looked to me like quite a few having words with Austin while goalie getting treatment. Manager also had his say.
shurlock Posted 23 December, 2017 Posted 23 December, 2017 Slowed down it looks bad but at full speed I’m not convinced it was deliberate. Only Austin knows for sure. Looks deliberate at any speed.
shurlock Posted 23 December, 2017 Posted 23 December, 2017 Huddersfield players don'e seem to think it was intentional based on their reactions. In the same way, none of our players challenged Vardy after his stamp on VVD. Means nothing. Their players weren't close enough to see the incident.
Saint Albert Posted 23 December, 2017 Posted 23 December, 2017 Yep but our fans love to slag a player off... I like Austin but it was a very naughty kick to the defenceless keeper’s face long after he secured possession of the ball.
Dalek2003 Posted 23 December, 2017 Posted 23 December, 2017 OK lets not let one in before HT and then bring on a few of the cavalry
stknowle Posted 23 December, 2017 Posted 23 December, 2017 If we don't score the 2nd goal I don't think we'll win this.
OttawaSaint Posted 23 December, 2017 Posted 23 December, 2017 City 1-0 B’mouth. WHU 1-1 Newcastle Stoke 1-0 Brom
Bad Wolf Posted 23 December, 2017 Posted 23 December, 2017 Red for Bouf at HT please! This. Or go 4-4-2 and bring on Gabbi, move Davis outwide. But I think I like your idea more.
mrfahaji Posted 23 December, 2017 Posted 23 December, 2017 Hard to defend that from Austin, but if I was trying to, the keeper spills the ball just as he is running past, and I wonder if sticking the foot out is an instinctive reaction to seeing the ball coming loose. That being said, even if the intention wasn’t to kick the keeper, I’m not sure you can excuse it, need to be more responsible.
OttawaSaint Posted 23 December, 2017 Posted 23 December, 2017 Their keeper looks dodgier than ours! This. We need to punish him for his mistakes.
Dalek2003 Posted 23 December, 2017 Posted 23 December, 2017 If everything stays the same table will look a lot better, but a very long way to go.
5string Posted 23 December, 2017 Posted 23 December, 2017 Red for Bouf at HT please! Hoj & Bouf on for Red & Tad would be my request. Save the 3rd sub for later (Gabbi for Austin?)
Ohio Saint Posted 23 December, 2017 Posted 23 December, 2017 This. We need to punish him for his mistakes. I suggest nipple clamps.
OttawaSaint Posted 23 December, 2017 Posted 23 December, 2017 Redmond AGAIN, ****! Getting into some great positions but his first touch takes him back into trouble almost every time.
5string Posted 23 December, 2017 Posted 23 December, 2017 I suggest nipple clamps. Said with the confidence of a regular user.
Dalek2003 Posted 23 December, 2017 Posted 23 December, 2017 Redmond AGAIN, ****! Getting into some great positions but his first touch takes him back into trouble almost every time. no confidence. probably good in training.
Shanghai Saint Posted 23 December, 2017 Posted 23 December, 2017 Austin was reaching to flick the ball over the keeper in my view.
Ohio Saint Posted 23 December, 2017 Posted 23 December, 2017 Said with the confidence of a regular user. You don't use nipple clamps, they use you.
Bad Wolf Posted 23 December, 2017 Posted 23 December, 2017 Hard to defend that from Austin, but if I was trying to, the keeper spills the ball just as he is running past, and I wonder if sticking the foot out is an instinctive reaction to seeing the ball coming loose. That being said, even if the intention wasn’t to kick the keeper, I’m not sure you can excuse it, need to be more responsible. I don't think Austin was actually trying to hurt the keeper. Was probably more "collateral damage". No idea why though since the keeper had both hands on it so even if he'd won the ball it'd have been disallowed anyway.
doddisalegend Posted 23 December, 2017 Posted 23 December, 2017 Redmond needs to played on the right. He is working hard out there but has no left foot and it shows.
Pamplemousse Posted 23 December, 2017 Posted 23 December, 2017 We ended the half how we should have started it. Please Pellegrino, tell the players to push for a second rather than sit back and hold on
obelisk Posted 23 December, 2017 Posted 23 December, 2017 Redmond's decision making is really, really poor. Some good chances to make it two have gone the way that they usually do with Saints. Still, I'd have taken 1-0 at half time after that shambolic start.
Saint Albert Posted 23 December, 2017 Posted 23 December, 2017 The goal deflated Huddersfield and allowed Saints to settle down and play well. We’d be doing so much better if Boufal was playing instead of Redmond.
ALWAYS_SFC Posted 23 December, 2017 Posted 23 December, 2017 Lucky to be winning to be honest. Just seen the stats... we have had four on target to their one...
doddisalegend Posted 23 December, 2017 Posted 23 December, 2017 Lucky to be winning to be honest. Not really we aren't great but we have been the better team. Having Stephens and Targett at fullback has left us with no pace out wide which is telling. Tadic is also having a poor game maybe time to stick Boufal in behind Austin.
Bad Wolf Posted 23 December, 2017 Posted 23 December, 2017 Redmond needs to played on the right. He is working hard out there but has no left foot and it shows. Because he specialises in cutting inside. Some wingers (Townsend is another one) have to be played on their weaker side so they can shift the ball onto their weaker foot and have the option of the shot, the through ball or the overlap. Remember the one he scored AGAINST us a few years ago at Norwich?
SaintMB Posted 23 December, 2017 Posted 23 December, 2017 I can’t think of a player in the squad that I wouldn’t want in the starting 11 instead of Redmond. He’s a total deadweight and the manager needs to go, just for the clearly poor judgement involved in playing him.
Ohio Saint Posted 23 December, 2017 Posted 23 December, 2017 OK, winning at half time. We are at home to Huddersfield, so that should be the case......I am normally one of the happiest of clappers, but we still need to get through the second half and whatever happens next I will still be uninspired. I simply can't imagine that we will improve significantly from where we are now. I hope I'm wrong.
striker Posted 23 December, 2017 Posted 23 December, 2017 Tadic and Redmond really look poor, Targett looks invisible. Most of Austin's touches have come from dropping back into midfield (where is Tadic?). I'd bring on Boufal for Targett and Romeu for Redmond.
austsaint Posted 23 December, 2017 Posted 23 December, 2017 Hoj & Bouf on for Red & Tad would be my request. Save the 3rd sub for later (Gabbi for Austin?) Agree, but it won't happen. I still don't see the point of JWP wide right either - yes, yes, his corners are good.
mrfahaji Posted 23 December, 2017 Posted 23 December, 2017 (edited) I don't think Austin was actually trying to hurt the keeper. Was probably more "collateral damage". No idea why though since the keeper had both hands on it so even if he'd won the ball it'd have been disallowed anyway. But that's my point/defence, is that the keeper did have both hands, so Austin doesn't make a challenge, and then the ball starts to slip out. Having not thought there was anything on, and then seeing the ball starting to move in the corner of his eye, maybe he instinctively reacted by putting his foot out. I mean, even writing that feels like clutching at straws, and irrespective of the reason, you can't simply kick someone in the face. Edit: watching the replay, I think the reason I give would stand up if he had 'flicked' his foot out into Lossl's face, but it's a weird movement, looks deliberate. Not sure what he was thinking... No need for it whatsoever. I just think, in Austin's mind there was probably something that told him he could get the ball and score. I just think he'd try and hurt the keeper on purpose. I think it was a rush of blood to the head rather than just malicious.
