Southampton FC youth future

Hesketh & Sims have been the most advanced for a while, but both hit with bad injuries.

Sims has the thing I always look for in that you can tell they are far too good for that level last season.

Michael Obafemi scored a hat-trick the other week & looks lightning quick, so I'll be keeping tabs on how he develops.

On a side-note. Do most youth academy players pick up as many serious injuries as we tend to get?

This is something the club, behind closed doors, have been concerned about for some time.

Generally there’s not a great deal coming through, especially at the younger age groups.

We seem lightyears behind other teams in regards to bringing in youth talent from abroad.

Hesketh and Sims certainly are the most promising, hopefully they'll be given a chance in the FA Cup game. Hopefully they remain injury free.

But it certainly is concerning. Targett and McQueen not near the first team at all. Stephens on the fringes.

Not sure if our lower league status and financial issues for a few years hindered junior recruitment, and that's the reason why the production line has halted. Although it's been eight years since the Liebherr takeover so that doesn't seem like a valid excuse.
