Saints v Leicester Thread

If I was a natural I would LOVE Leicester to smash us tonight. The way their current manager was treated by our club and our fans was disgusting. It's bad enough he was sacked despite doing an alright (if unspectacular) job is bad enough but the way we waited and kept him guessing as well as fans commenting on social media that they hope he crashes his car on the way back from games to get rid of him was just utterly disgraceful.

I only hope our fans have the good grace to give him the decent reception he deserves tonight.

what a weirdo

Well that's that, can't see us scoring 2 against any vaguely competent side.

Just please, please sack the clown soon. Great Christmas present then we can use the window for a decent manager. So tired of people thinking a couple of draws is some amazing improvement. We'd had an absolutely dire first half of the season.

The bigger teams tend to give you a bit more space and can make a very average side look alright. Look at West Ham, a narrow defeat against City (like us) and a good result against the big boys. Is everyone now claiming West Ham are a good side or that Moyes is a good manager? No, don't see why we should claim the same re Pell and our team really.

Have we lost, or are we losing...?

The way we have played all season it's a real optimist who thinks we can get two (or more goals) and win this (provided we stop them form scoring any more). Those late goals to City and Arsenal showed how mentally fragile we are right now.

I'd like to think we could win from here, but I just can't see us pulling a rabbit out of a hat, not from what I've seen so far this season.

If you set up really defensive all the time you'll probably look better v bigger teams where expectation is low. I hate seeing any club do that though. But I also wouldn't count Arsenal at St Marys in a snowy December game as anything other than a highly winnable fixture. They didn't turn up, we massively let them off the hook.

Agreed. In our previous life as a decent top half side we would have put them away relatively easily playing the way they did.

What worries me most are the teams we've beaten - WH, Palace, West Brom and Everton.

4 sides massively off form, 2 without any points when we played them and all 4 having sacked their managers.

Neutrals won't realise those are our only victories but I'm amazed more Saints fans are really worried that's the case. We are really unlikely to play any sides worse than those 4 were in those games.

Fail to win this and it’s one win in 8. Whether or not we are improving is besides the point, we are not picking up points. We were far from the worst side in the league the year we finished bottom.
