Bailey Posted 14 January, 2009 Share Posted 14 January, 2009 To be fair to Euell, I don't think he's said anything out of term. It must be frustrating for him to get in the side and then be dropped completely because the transfer window is open. I agree with him that he could offer alot to our young side, especially if he played 'in the hole'. Still, I fully expect him to leave either this month or at the end of the season. Shame really, but our financial situation dictates.

Plumstead_Saint Posted 14 January, 2009 Share Posted 14 January, 2009 Spot on. IMO he's not been playing because of appearance money in his contract which interestingly, was not published in the Echo. I see no other reason why JP wouldn't pick him, not because he's brilliant or anything but because he's obviously better than Gobern, Gillett etc. Also, Paterson has been picked up front when Euell would have been a better option... Maybe appearance money wasn't leaked to the Echo because it would show that JP had his hands tied to a degree when picking the side... Spot on. Calvin Posted 15 January, 2009 Share Posted 15 January, 2009 (edited) Well said Euell. I respect that he wants to play. It's shows the sort of passion in which Saints needs. I personally do not think that Euell is a bad player. I feel he has the ability and the determination to be a good player.. he just needs more games to prove himself, and to adapt more to the way Saints are currently playing. If I was him, I would be delighted to not play while earning a great wage. Edited 15 January, 2009 by Calvin

sadoldgit Posted 15 January, 2009 Share Posted 15 January, 2009 not getting much sympathy is he! No he is not. I think he is a decent pro and obviously knows the game but with money so tight, if he feels he is is better off eslewhere he should go. We need people here who want to be her come what may. In the side or out.

Cricketphilly Posted 15 January, 2009 Share Posted 15 January, 2009 He got old. Happens to all of us you know. Some player go into a long gradual decline, some just drop like lead bricks. It's a sign of talent and class. You can fake it up until you're about 28 but then only true class will tell. I am reluctant to admit that I am not quite the goal scoring machine at 44, than I was at 17.
sidthesquid Posted 15 January, 2009 Share Posted 15 January, 2009 "But if I’m no longer wanted, I would rather the club tell me, then I can start to look elsewhere." I think they have tried hinting very strongly and repeatedly that he is no longer wanted, but he isn't going to rush off elsewhere else because he isn't worth 20% of his current deal and he knows it. This is merely him hinting that perhaps he might be amenable to a compromise on his pay-off
trousers Posted 15 January, 2009 Share Posted 15 January, 2009 Sorry if already posted but why would anyone be "horrified" that their wages are public knowledge? The usual reason for someone being coy about their wages is that they are 'embarrassed' by earning either too little or too much. If he believes he's worth the amount he's being paid then why the big hang up about people knowing? It is afterall the general public that pay the lion's share of said wages. Talk about digging a hole for yourself....
saintjay77 Posted 15 January, 2009 Share Posted 15 January, 2009 I think he is carp and if another club are mugs to want him, they are welcome. That said, it wasn't very professional to leak personal details - whoever did it and I don't blame him for being cross about that. It doesn't change the fact however that he has been awful - that performance V Plymouth last season was one of the worst I've ever seen and the chant that followed his substitution was spot-on. I was there for that game and was P1ssed off that he had the cheak to smile as he was about to sit down. Like he heard the chant and the applause for taking him off and thought it was funny. If he hadnt improved dramatically after that game I would have been banging on about him every week. I agree about the leaked info and I wouldnt be happy if my details were published. He probably has the rest of the team asking for his agents number so they can get good money for little effort at there next club.

david in sweden Posted 15 January, 2009 Share Posted 15 January, 2009 Sorry if been posted already: http://www.thesun.co.uk/sol/homepage/sport/football/article2131360.ece .........so Jason Euell is not happy, well NEITHER AM I ! Anyone genuine enough to want to justify his wages would surely make more of an effort to get on the team sheet. ......but why bother, getting that sort of salary just to turn up for training must be a good deal eh, Jason ? Surely you're better than some of the teenagers we 've been playing of late -aren't you ....or are they just keener to play than you are ?
