9-3 Posted 3 November, 2017 Share Posted 3 November, 2017 Just read an article in Backpass magazine. (football magazine reporting on retro football). John Mortimore who was assistant manager to Ted Bates and later became Club President at Southampton Football Club. Went on to manage Portsmouth and Benfica. While at at Portsmouth he caught the players in their rooms drinking on a Friday night before a match the next day. Mortimore asked "how long has this been going on for"? They replied, "quite a few years".
