SuperSAINT Posted 28 December, 2017 Posted 28 December, 2017 I agree about Rodgers and Dembele, but not selling McQueen and Redmond. A good manager would get the best out of them. Pep obviously can see the potential that Redmond has, and is also frustrated seeing his progress stopped. Dembele should certainly be on the shortlist. It would be interesting to see how many strikers show up around the £22m-25m bracket on the black-box.
SKD Posted 28 December, 2017 Author Posted 28 December, 2017 Pay whatever it takes to get Giroud, he’ll offer us something different and give us a true focal point of our attack. If we’re going to continue to play 1 up top, we need a target man who can hold the ball up.... think an upgrade on Austin. Don’t get the fuss around Walcott, although he’d be better on the right than Redmond is. Think we need a right sided CB to replace VvD. And a Keeper but can’t see that happening just yet.

That seems like a plan to me. I’d rather have Giroud than Walcott and Forster would be a lot better playing in a settled and organised defence.
SuperSAINT Posted 28 December, 2017 Posted 28 December, 2017 Sounds like Vietto can be scratched off the list. Joining Sporting Lisbon on loan with an option to buy.
Pamplemousse Posted 28 December, 2017 Posted 28 December, 2017 A Giroud type player is definitely what we need.
Golac's Cunning Stunts Posted 28 December, 2017 Posted 28 December, 2017 You seriously believe pep gives a flying **** about Redmond's lack of progress?

Great absolutely not what we need - Juanmi mk2. We need someone who can lead the line and a focal point who can hit the ground running not wait for him to bed in we dont have the time.

pangy Posted 28 December, 2017 Posted 28 December, 2017 Giroud would be perfect imo, I know it seems out of reach but he would be that lone striker in the same mould as Pelle. Dembele or Sinclair from Celtic would be decent as well
Dusic Posted 28 December, 2017 Posted 28 December, 2017 http://cgul.co/2Droydx Some fairly obvious but interesting comments from Brighton's CEO on how the window works. Interesting that they have only 4 people inside the club aware of specifics on negotiations at any time. Probably similar at Saints, hence its hard for anyone here to really be ITK.

Dembele or Sinclair from Celtic would be decent as well Giroud, Aboubakar, Dost are the type of centre forwards (not specifically the names, but the attributes) we need to be targetting. Then let Boufal, Gabbiadini et all free in and around them. We'll probably see a lot more from Gabbiadini if he had someone to play off of.
Give it to Ron Posted 28 December, 2017 Posted 28 December, 2017 Alan Nixon @reluctantnicko 7m7 minutes ago Wigan looking at Marcus Barnes. Southampton ressie. Brother of Giles. Attacking midfield.
SuperSAINT Posted 28 December, 2017 Posted 28 December, 2017 Alan Nixon @reluctantnicko: Wigan looking at Marcus Barnes. Southampton ressie. Brother of Giles. Attacking midfield. A loan, I assume? Would be good to get him out playing first team football at 21.
Give it to Ron Posted 28 December, 2017 Posted 28 December, 2017 A loan, I assume? Would be good to get him out playing first team football at 21. Had a bad run with injuries - he is different than most of the others around that time as he is not lightweight and weedy unlike most of our academy lot. Hope its only a loan but needs to kick on now.

Jai27 Posted 28 December, 2017 Posted 28 December, 2017 theo anyone? Well then... That would be a turn out for the books! Think he could play a big role in saving our season if he does come home.
Give it to Ron Posted 28 December, 2017 Posted 28 December, 2017 theo anyone? Snap your hand off - can play wide or down the middle - much needed pace going forward if we can get him off the treatment table
Give it to Ron Posted 28 December, 2017 Posted 28 December, 2017 I cannot wait to see Theo return, score, then get dropped the next game. Played left wing back the week after....

I've always said i hear almost zero about signings, players leaving or managers going on the other hand you tend to get a lot more leaks about, mainly because the players at the club tend to talk fairly openly so it filters down as rumours. The times you tend to hear about players coming in is when it's leaked from the other team, which does happen occasionally. Some of my sources are fairly high up in the club, but they're normally the most tight lipped.
Convict Colony Posted 28 December, 2017 Posted 28 December, 2017 Who is Theo replacing do we think ? Redmond or Tadic ?

Saint Albert Posted 28 December, 2017 Posted 28 December, 2017 Who is Theo replacing do we think ? Redmond or Tadic ? Knowing Pellegrino he probably sees Theo as an alternative for Boufal.

HKsaint Posted 28 December, 2017 Posted 28 December, 2017 Theo is too old now. Dembele Would be my first choice.
trousers Posted 28 December, 2017 Posted 28 December, 2017 Walcott has always stated his favourite position is as an out and out centre forward, and has previously expressed his frustration at having to play deeper/wider positions for Arsenal. So, one would assume if he comes here it'll be as our first choice centre forward IMO.
Turkish Posted 28 December, 2017 Posted 28 December, 2017 theo anyone? just what we need, bit of pace in the side. Loan or permanent?

charliemiller Posted 28 December, 2017 Posted 28 December, 2017 Theo and Dembele .......would be fantastic , add to that Giroud or aboloukhar would be dream forward line
Saint Albert Posted 28 December, 2017 Posted 28 December, 2017 For those who think that transfer targets are exclusively the domain of Les Reed / Ross Wilson / the Black Box, in his press conference today Pellegrino stated that he has his targets and has handed his wish list for the January transfer window to the board... https://mobile.twitter.com/AdamBlackmore/status/946387394332413952
DT Posted 28 December, 2017 Posted 28 December, 2017 Just like all everton's signings were the dream. Or West Ham's. I really can't wait for the day when people put decent management and coaching over shiny new signings. really no idea what it'd take for that to happen though. Agreed. A manager would be like 11 new signings. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
harriesss Posted 28 December, 2017 Posted 28 December, 2017 Walcott is exactly what we don’t need. A classic ‘black box’ signing, where all the players we sign are essentially exactly the same, and why we’re in the predicament we’re in. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
DT Posted 28 December, 2017 Posted 28 December, 2017 Disagree. Pace. Proven ability. Affinity with saints. Just not over 20m Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
Appy Posted 28 December, 2017 Posted 28 December, 2017 Anyone who thinks Walcott isn’t what we need is deluded. Proven quality, pace, exactly what we lack.
doggface Posted 28 December, 2017 Posted 28 December, 2017 Can totally see this happening if he takes a realistic pay cut. Could be a great signing, but totally out of favour at arsenal. Doing some research sounds like he has seriously regressed over the last few months.
ericb Posted 28 December, 2017 Posted 28 December, 2017 Any news ericb? everything i know has already been said in here and other places to be honest.
davefizzy14 Posted 28 December, 2017 Posted 28 December, 2017 everything i know has already been said in here and other places to be honest. Ok mate.
Pamplemousse Posted 28 December, 2017 Posted 28 December, 2017 Walcott is an upgrade on Redmond. He’d also give the fan base a much needed lift, and that’s why I think the board will go for it.

Nolan Posted 28 December, 2017 Posted 28 December, 2017 Theo in a heartbeat. He'd give 100% not only for the club, but for himself to push for an England place for Russia.

He shouldn't even still be manager - what a disaster this season is.
ErwinK1961 Posted 28 December, 2017 Posted 28 December, 2017 theo anyone? If he's playing right side of a front three (e.g. replacing Redmond) or up top in a 2, then yes please. If he's playing up top on his own, then no thanks.
Pamplemousse Posted 28 December, 2017 Posted 28 December, 2017 God help us if that clown has any say on transfers. He shouldn't even still be manager - what a disaster this season is. I hope a goalkeeper is on that list. One thing that seems certain to me is that Pellegrino isn’t going anywhere. I hope for our sake that he has the ability to turn things around, and quickly.

Saint Matty 76 Posted 28 December, 2017 Posted 28 December, 2017 Southampton eye Theo Walcott return as part of January rebuild following Virgil van Dijk exit The Saints are also tracking Celtic's Moussa Dembele while Swansea defender Alfie Mawson is on the radar From John Cross
