He wants to be first choice and not rotated. He makes that clear with his comments. I would bring Boruc back. He hardly gets a game with Begovic being first choice.

Boruc would be on my shopping list if we go down.

Daniel Bentley @ Brentford too.

No he couldn't. Terrible keeper, we've got enough of those.

That's harsh. He was great at Sunderland but struggles under the pressure at Anfield. At 29 (compared to Boruc's 37) he can easily refind some form. The main barrier for me would be cost.

Stupid thing is that we actually have a good amount of decent players. We clearly are lacking in three main areas and if sorted we would have a good side:

- Powerful striker

- Defensive leader

- Pace out wide

With a world record fee for a defender having come in then we shoukd be able to sort these 3 in this one window. But we won't.

Plus............4 - Manager with some tactical nous.

- and a goalkeeper! Astonished we haven't prioritised that - a good goalie is worth as many points as a good striker IMO.

We're not signing anyone are we. Thoroughly miserable experience being a Saints fan at the moment.

Contain your excitement, we’re signing the new Ulloa.

oh will sign someone, for a bit of PR, I'm sure. Who ever it is he'll probably be cheap, young with potential and only the most ardent FIFA 18 players will know who the **** he is...

wasn't he meant to be injured ?

Which could of course mean he's on his way.

Wouldn't surprise me if we're waiting till the end of window to see the ladder so the club know how little they can get away with investing.

Transfer windows should be seen as an opportunity to strengthen the team. Instead the club sees them as an opportunity to strengthen it's bank account. :mcinnes:

No goal record - TICK

Completely coincidental link to current manager honestly we've been tracking him for years - TICK

Complicated long name with high Scrabble potential - TICK

Mid-teen millions asking price - TICK

Crocked on arrival - TICK TICK TICK

This guy is solid Les Reed gold. Get him in and on the treatment table lads.

“I’ve never seen a player who’s as good with his head as he’s bad with his feet”

From the Monaco momgboard. Bit of a marmite player, especially this season but on balance, they've valued his service and feel he would do well with a fresh start. Won’t pull up any trees and not particularly quick or mobile (which makes it doubly important to add some pace) but is committed, is positionally clever and excellent in the air.

From the Monaco momgboard. Still they generally like the player and feel he would do well with a fresh start. Won’t pull up any trees and not particularly quick or mobile (which makes it doubly important to add some pace) but is committed, is positionally clever and excellent in the air.

Sounds like a Heskey type.

Possibly, though they say he’s not particularly good away from home, especially against the bigger sides. While he’s excellent in the air, he won’t drop deep and hold up the ball as Heskey did but tends to stay up field and come alive in the box in the same way that Giroud does (indeed he’s called a poor man’s Giroud on there).

Thanks that's helpful. Does sound like someone we need then. Won't be much good though if we fail to sign anyone with pace.

Saints have been goalie blind for a decade. Pathetic

Face up to the reality folks. Any decent player's going to laugh at his agent if he calls up to tell him Saints are interested. If we'd made even half decent progress in the first "easy" half of the season then maybe there'd be a chance but not now given the current position and run in. The parallels with 2005 are uncanny.

They would with a decent manager

Whilst we're having a dreadful season, that's just nonsense.

So, with 16 days of the window now gone and no recruits - how many do people realistically thing that we will bring in at this point? I think we will get this Carrilllo bloke on deadline day and that’ll be our lot despite all the PR BS early in the window. Too little too late.

Carrillo was born in Magdalena. Perhaps he'll oversee our resurrection.

Hopefully that’s the case. We will definitely need a miracle to rise from our near certain Premier League death

That’s the way it’s looking.

The only positive reason I can think of is that the club are concentrating on bringing in a replacement manager and will bring in new signings once that is finalised.

That might be clutching at straws though.

Given that we are signing a striker hand picked by MP it doesn’t look like we are planning on / close to replacing him any time soon. Pathetic.

16 Bundesliga goals in 2014/2015. Then he broke his foot halfway into the next season, already at 8 goals. Remember that time when he scored 11 goals in 6 Bundesliga games? That was magnificent. Especially this game:

Anyway, we're not getting him.

Still glad we won't... ;)

His start in the Bundesliga was excellent but later on it all went downhill, why do you think he was sold to Sporting?

Yes, he scores a lot of goals in Portugal but that competition is slightly better than the Eredivisie.

To get a real idea of his abilities you should look at the games he played for the Dutch national team, even van Wolfswinkel leaves a better impression.

Typical arrogant Saints fan mentality.

Our current strikers would still score less than him in Portugal right now.
