benjii Posted 24 October, 2017 Share Posted 24 October, 2017 Interestingly, looking at Minsk's Match by Match Comparison - which he wrote PRIOR to beating WBA: "I am using Hull for this comparison and last season we only managed a home draw against them too. So, we remain with a... 1 point deficit Next up, very shortly, on Match Day 9 is a home match against WBA. Last season .... our home game against WBA resulted in a 2-1 defeat." So - assuming Minsk has done his homework (and who am I to say otherwise?) - on a opponent-for-opponent basis, having taken 3 points against the Baggies we are now actually 2 points better off than last season. Surprising maybe???? Well, didn't we only manage 4 home wins last season? We've got two already so not too surprising if we're ahead and let's not forget, we only got about 46 points last season and barely scored a home goal in the second half of the season. So we can be doing "not that great" but also slightly "better" at the same time. Of course, a cynic might also point out that we haven't had to contend with Europa and have also got ourselves knocked out of the league cup by a lower division youth/reserve team. Surprising maybe???? Depends which camp you fall in. Some of our fans are delighted with an 8th place finish and a cup final Some of our fans are unhappy at only getting 45 points which most seasons would be a relegation scrap. If we don't beat last years points total then we will be in trouble this year. That is for sure.

No we won 6 home (and 6 away)...... Still should be better out of 19 home games though, of course
SKD Posted 29 October, 2017 Share Posted 29 October, 2017 Very strong possibility that we could be in a relegation battle this year. Very very poor for some time now. A keeper who is truly dreadful at present. Lack of steel in midfield without Lamina Awful lack of creativity No clear approach / philosophy A manager who appears clueless and just as defensive as the last one. In ability to beat pretty average teams People may not want to hear it but Les has a lot to answer for the majority I’m afraid.
