Pilchards Posted 2 October, 2017 Posted 2 October, 2017 Harry Kane has scored more goals in 2017 than the entire Saints team - FACT
Ivan Katalinic's 'tache Posted 2 October, 2017 Posted 2 October, 2017 Shane Long couldn't hit a cow's a*se with a banjo. Fact.
Turkish Posted 2 October, 2017 Posted 2 October, 2017 Charlie Austin has scored more times with another woman than he has for Saints this season. Alledgedly
Lighthouse Posted 2 October, 2017 Posted 2 October, 2017 At home on a Saturday afternoon, we've only scored against West Ham in 2017.
Pamplemousse Posted 2 October, 2017 Posted 2 October, 2017 We will score more in one game (eventually) than we have for the entire season at home
Lighthouse Posted 2 October, 2017 Posted 2 October, 2017 At home on a Saturday afternoon, we've only scored against West Ham in 2017. Saints 0-5 Arsenal Saints 1-3 West Ham Saints 0-0 Bournemouth Saints 0-3 Man City Saints 0-0 Hull Saints 0-0 Swansea Saints 3-2 West Ham Saints 0-2 Watford Saints 0-1 Man Utd
SuperSAINT Posted 2 October, 2017 Posted 2 October, 2017 At home on a Saturday afternoon, we've only scored against West Ham in 2017. Is that true?!
OttawaSaint Posted 2 October, 2017 Posted 2 October, 2017 Charlie Austin has scored more times with another woman than he has for Saints this season. Alledgedly Austin is a woman?!?!?
SKD Posted 2 October, 2017 Posted 2 October, 2017 There has been just as many plane accidents as there has been goals at St Mary's this season. 2 accidents* & 2 goals (since July 2017) *credit Wiki
Shance Posted 2 October, 2017 Posted 2 October, 2017 Saints 0-5 Arsenal Saints 1-3 West Ham Saints 0-0 Bournemouth Saints 0-3 Man City Saints 0-0 Hull Saints 0-0 Swansea Saints 3-2 West Ham Saints 0-2 Watford Saints 0-1 Man Utd Jesus Christ, that's absolutely shocking.
OttawaSaint Posted 2 October, 2017 Posted 2 October, 2017 What were the plane accidents at St Marys ? There were a couple of games where our wings were useless...
Ivan Katalinic's 'tache Posted 2 October, 2017 Posted 2 October, 2017 Saints 0-5 Arsenal Saints 1-3 West Ham Saints 0-0 Bournemouth Saints 0-3 Man City Saints 0-0 Hull Saints 0-1 Stoke Saints 0-0 Swansea Saints 3-2 West Ham Saints 0-2 Watford Saints 0-1 Man Utd It's actually a bit worse than that. Edited...
LGTL Posted 2 October, 2017 Posted 2 October, 2017 It's actually a bit worse than that. Edited... It really is a diabolical record
Micky Posted 2 October, 2017 Posted 2 October, 2017 Absolutely shocking stats, we need to turn this around quickly. Sent from my SM-T580 using Tapatalk
BlagdonSaint Posted 2 October, 2017 Posted 2 October, 2017 It's actually a bit worse than that. Edited... It's even worse than that - don't forget we also lost in the cup at home against Wolves reserves 0-2
BlagdonSaint Posted 2 October, 2017 Posted 2 October, 2017 Sorry - just realised that was a midweek fixture at home - however, still another blank from us.
Dangermouth Posted 2 October, 2017 Posted 2 October, 2017 Austin is a woman?!?!? *****. Have a thumbs up. I have no facts about how well Saints have done unless the "Southampton Way" is to be rebranded as a cure for insomnia.
Dangermouth Posted 2 October, 2017 Posted 2 October, 2017 So the censor doesn't accept a female dog? How about 'sow'?
Sheaf Saint Posted 2 October, 2017 Posted 2 October, 2017 It's even worse than that - don't forget we also lost in the cup at home against Wolves reserves 0-2 That wasn't on a saturday afternoon though
Jonnyboy Posted 2 October, 2017 Posted 2 October, 2017 Still waiting for a statto to tell me the record lowest goals scored at home in a Saints calendar year?
Saint-Fred Posted 2 October, 2017 Posted 2 October, 2017 Last season 5 teams in the league scored less goals than us. This year only 3 have scored less than us.(although a number have the same as us) Perversely in both seasons we have been top half for shots..7th last year and 6th so far this year. This season..same as the last..
Saint-Fred Posted 2 October, 2017 Posted 2 October, 2017 Having scored 27 goals in 26 league games this Calendar year, we need to score 21 goals in the remaining 12 games just to equal our worst goal scoring annual performance since returning to the premier league......... I think.
Lets B Avenue Posted 2 October, 2017 Posted 2 October, 2017 It's actually a bit worse than that. Edited... That game wasn't on a Saturday. You are a disgrace to the Pedants Union.
Pilchards Posted 3 October, 2017 Author Posted 3 October, 2017 Having scored 27 goals in 26 league games this Calendar year, we need to score 21 goals in the remaining 12 games just to equal our worst goal scoring annual performance since returning to the premier league......... I think. Nice fact. So we need to score 1.75 goals a game? That’s never going to happen unless we play average teams like Huddersfield, Watford and Swansea? oops!!!
Daft Kerplunk Posted 3 October, 2017 Posted 3 October, 2017 Having scored 27 goals in 26 league games this Calendar year, we need to score 21 goals in the remaining 12 games just to equal our worst goal scoring annual performance since returning to the premier league......... I think. One for the statisticians: if we haven't already, how many goals do we need to beat our lowest ever goal tally in a calendar year? I cannot remember us ever being so goal shy!
Ultimatt Posted 3 October, 2017 Posted 3 October, 2017 (edited) Can't find calendar year stats, just season. Fewest goals scored at home in a season: 10, Manchester City (2006–07) Fewest goals scored in a season: 20, Derby County (2007/08) We scored 7 in our 10 home PL games Jan-May. 17 goals in the 19 home PL games last season. 3 in our 4 home PL games this season. As shocking as our goal scoring is, it's not quite breaking records, and it's what you'd expect when you replace the likes of Lallana/Lambert or Mane/Pelle with Redmond/Long who average 0.115 and 0.233 goals a game over their careers. Edited 3 October, 2017 by Ultimatt
sydenhamssocks Posted 3 October, 2017 Posted 3 October, 2017 Shane Long couldn't hit a cow's a*se with a banjo. Fact. But..bizarrely, he can play the banjo! He's in the wrong job, a club singer not a striker... Footballs Forest Gump.....run Shane run !
Kingsland Red Posted 3 October, 2017 Posted 3 October, 2017 Shane Long must have set the record for games played as a 'striker' without scoring ( at a guess getting near 25 )

Wurzel Posted 3 October, 2017 Posted 3 October, 2017 So less than 3 years after scoring 8 goals in one home PL game we have only scored in one of the last 9 home PL games. Which is a bizarre stat at any level of football Even more strange the only one we have scored in was scheduled as an away game and the fixture reversed. Didn't we have a white witch remove a curse at SMS not long after we moved in? Is it time we got her back?
Kingsland Codger Posted 3 October, 2017 Posted 3 October, 2017 Looking at things from the other end of the telescope let's find reasons to be cheerful. If our attack is so bad, it must mean our defence is superb. And if we can't score at home, our away record must be stunning.
shurlock Posted 3 October, 2017 Posted 3 October, 2017 (edited) In the 5 days after a match, Glasgow posts, on average, 12.3x more when we fail to score than we get on the score sheet. #FACT Edited 3 October, 2017 by shurlock
broncoboy Posted 3 October, 2017 Posted 3 October, 2017 It's actually a bit worse than that. Edited... It's ****e watching games where your team never scores- Fact
Pilchards Posted 3 October, 2017 Author Posted 3 October, 2017 Although Palace have been ****e this season, they have only scored 2 fewer goals than we have in the whole of 2017.
Nordic Saint Posted 3 October, 2017 Posted 3 October, 2017 Pierre-Emile Højbjerg 0 goals in 20 Premier League games Sofiane Boufal 1 goal in his last 20 Dusan Tadic 1 goal in his last 18 Shane Long 1 goal in his last 17 Nathan Redmond 1 goal in his last 16 Manolo Gabbiadini 1 goal in his last 15 James Ward-Prowse 1 goal in his last 15 Steven Davis 1 goals in his last 15 Charlie Austin 1 goal in his last 9
Nordic Saint Posted 3 October, 2017 Posted 3 October, 2017 I think we can see what the problem is. Old Les has lumbered us with a squad full of 'attacking' players who don't score goals and managers and coaches who can't get them to, and changing managers and buying more players is unlikley to change that if Old Les is choosing them. "Southampton executive director of football Les Reed has claimed that the club boasts the best array of midfield options in the Premier League." https://www.sportsmole.co.uk/football/southampton/news/reed-southampton-have-best-midfield-in-pl_276561.html
Nordic Saint Posted 3 October, 2017 Posted 3 October, 2017 Change the record mate I wish we could but that (lack of) goals scoring record speaks for itself.

Therein lies the problem Puel and MP have failed to resolve . Let's stop buying defenders like Bednarski or midfield players like Boufal and blow the entire transfer budget on one or two overpaid prima donna goalscorers next summer, if it's not too late.
larry12 Posted 3 October, 2017 Posted 3 October, 2017 Jesus Christ, that's absolutely shocking. How can you or anyone be possibly shocked by that? Les Reed bought 2 CB's and a goalie in the summer to completely cure LAST SEASON'S goal drought problem. HE is/was the problem and needs getting rid of. How long is it going to take for you all to wake up?

SuperSAINT Posted 14 October, 2017 Posted 14 October, 2017 Decent article: https://www.theguardian.com/football/2017/oct/14/mauricio-pellegrino-attack-stuttering-southampton
ally_uk Posted 14 October, 2017 Posted 14 October, 2017 So what is the conclusion? Our attack is toilet! Is it the players or coaches?
Dark Munster Posted 14 October, 2017 Posted 14 October, 2017 Decent article: https://www.theguardian.com/football/2017/oct/14/mauricio-pellegrino-attack-stuttering-southampton Yes, sums up the current problems very well. Also agreed with this part: "Puel was not the problem, then."
