Ultimatt Posted 3 October, 2017 Share Posted 3 October, 2017 (edited) Can't find calendar year stats, just season. Fewest goals scored at home in a season: 10, Manchester City (2006–07) Fewest goals scored in a season: 20, Derby County (2007/08) We scored 7 in our 10 home PL games Jan-May. 17 goals in the 19 home PL games last season. 3 in our 4 home PL games this season. As shocking as our goal scoring is, it's not quite breaking records, and it's what you'd expect when you replace the likes of Lallana/Lambert or Mane/Pelle with Redmond/Long who average 0.115 and 0.233 goals a game over their careers. Wurzel Posted 3 October, 2017 Share Posted 3 October, 2017 So less than 3 years after scoring 8 goals in one home PL game we have only scored in one of the last 9 home PL games. Which is a bizarre stat at any level of football Even more strange the only one we have scored in was scheduled as an away game and the fixture reversed. Kingsland Codger Posted 3 October, 2017 Share Posted 3 October, 2017 Looking at things from the other end of the telescope let's find reasons to be cheerful. If our attack is so bad, it must mean our defence is superb. And if we can't score at home, our away record must be stunning.

Nordic Saint Posted 3 October, 2017 Share Posted 3 October, 2017 I think we can see what the problem is. Old Les has lumbered us with a squad full of 'attacking' players who don't score goals and managers and coaches who can't get them to, and changing managers and buying more players is unlikley to change that if Old Les is choosing them. "Southampton executive director of football Les Reed has claimed that the club boasts the best array of midfield options in the Premier League." https://www.sportsmole.co.uk/football/southampton/news/reed-southampton-have-best-midfield-in-pl_276561.html
