This goes goes straight to the heart of the problem with football.....

People are brainwashed that players can only do one job on a pitch - totally untrue. The one exception being goalkeeper.....

‘Football people are ‘institutionalised’ they cannot see solutions that challenge their football ‘knowledge’ or football tradition. What is that ‘knowledge ? It is mostly Scotch Mist.

They tend to repeat the same mistakes time and time again. It’s only a very few people that can truely ‘manage’ a football team and those people could manage any team or company. The aura around football management is completely misplaced.

Bit of a wild assertion that, Chris. Doubt it's true as players specialise in one position from age 8 upwards these days. I mean if a guy is left footed, wouldn't he have a problem playing on the right etc?

Tadic is a left footer played on the right, Redmond a righty played on the left...

So they can do it, not sure it doesn't make us amazingly predictable though...oh look, redmond/Tadic are out wide and cutting across the edge of the area. Who'd have thought it....seemingly all of our opposition!!

Well it’s funny you should say that... Should’nt professional players be taught from the age of eight how to kick with both feet????

This is another fundamental part of football coaching which is flawed...

Honestly football coaching is mediocre.

Incidentally we have always played players on opposite wings in forward positions too...

Don't see many right footers playing left back though...

To be honest, I do wonder why I bother, especially home games. There is still something about going away with mates and that but at home, god it's dull and the players don't care and the club just want money. There's nothing from the old game anymore, it's all gone, what a lot of us 30+ people grew up with bears no relation to today.

I don't except this. I bet Neuer could do a job for us all over the pitch :smug:

Though Nathan Dyer was arguably as good if not better on the odd occasion when he played there for us.

I'm guessing you meant "Clyne" as I don't think even Poortvliet and Wotte were that mad to try that one.

I think the mods have left town and SWF is now lawless bandit country. I'm going to test this theory by posting increasingly risqué material, culminating with Tubgirl.

Go on, do it. I dare you.
