Halo Stickman Posted 7 May, 2018 Share Posted 7 May, 2018 Relegation strugglers again ? Sadly, it's starting to look that way. We look solid enough on paper, but in reality we still seem pretty fragile, especially when under pressure. The absence of Northeast, Berg and Holland isn't helping in that respect. We really need a couple of our players to step up to the plate today.
Dellman Posted 7 May, 2018 Share Posted 7 May, 2018 Vince leads like he bats, careless and unreliable, no backbone or grit. New leadership please--God only knows who--and a bit of reilience. do any of them care?
beatlesaint Posted 7 May, 2018 Share Posted 7 May, 2018 Feel for Abbott and Edwards. Just when they think they’ve earned a rest and put the team in a strong position they are going out to bat after another collapse.
Dellman Posted 7 May, 2018 Share Posted 7 May, 2018 Adams needs a rest, and the other batsmen need a rest from him---two and a half hours for 17 after six and a half hours for 87. The whole team will die of boredom watching him set the pace. He's a nice guy and been a good servant but we've had too much of this good thing. We need a bit of joy in the team and I can't see who it is coming from
Window Cleaner Posted 11 May, 2018 Author Share Posted 11 May, 2018 Taunton today. Good to see Crane and Berg back in the group. Dawson out injured I believe and Wood has either been dropped or is injured. Still no Holland.
Window Cleaner Posted 11 May, 2018 Author Share Posted 11 May, 2018 Why oh why can our top order never maintain a solid start? Weatherley,Adams and Vince all got a solid start and then got out without moving on to the type of score they should be getting..

saint1977 Posted 14 May, 2018 Share Posted 14 May, 2018 Well, didn’t see that coming. Still second bottom but a draw with Vince double ton, Amla ton and Rilee hitting some runs at last, a whole lot better than what looked a heavy defeat. Leach’s thumb probably helped us, but not England. They were hopeless on Saturday, couldn’t see anything other than a defeat.

Halo Stickman Posted 15 May, 2018 Share Posted 15 May, 2018 Vince the second highest scorer in Division One this season: OUT. Butler raking in the money from the Indian Biff Bash: IN. What a slap in the face for the English County Championship.
LeBizzier69 Posted 16 May, 2018 Share Posted 16 May, 2018 Vince has had 2 good chances to stake a claim for England - he didn't really deserve to go on the Ashes tour. There are clearly (and evidently) doubts over his international calibre, so I can understand the thinking. Bit more consistency throughout the season and he might get another crack at it. Nellie Posted 16 May, 2018 Share Posted 16 May, 2018 Which is great for Hampshire. The only bit I have a problem with, is telling the players to go back to the counties and they’ll be selected on early season form, then completely ignoring that to pick an out of form Stoneman, Bess and a specialist number seven who doesn’t really play four day cricket anymore. Makes you wonder why anybody bothers with the county championship.

Halo Stickman Posted 20 May, 2018 Share Posted 20 May, 2018 Well, at 133/6 needing 251, I thought our chances of winning our opening 50 over match were looking slim, but hats off to our lower order especially Berg and McManus. It would be nice to follow that victory with home wins against Surrey and Essex this week. I see the Surrey match (Mon 2pm) is on Sky.
Window Cleaner Posted 21 May, 2018 Author Share Posted 21 May, 2018 Looks like it's going to be a difficult run chase (unless it gets rained off). Bowlers got roundly smashed most of the time and 263 from 44 overs looks like a major ask.

stevegrant Posted 23 May, 2018 Share Posted 23 May, 2018 Guess we're short of back-up bowlers. Have they confirmed that Edwards and/or Topley are injured/knackered? Seems strange to make those changes if they're available - both are clearly absolutely light years ahead of Wood. Wheal's OK, I think, although suspect he might be better suited to the 4-day game. stevegrant Posted 23 May, 2018 Share Posted 23 May, 2018 If our top order doesn't panic. Still Amla and Rossouw are in fair nick and may well give us a good start. I like our batting lineup in this format, Amla can play the big, quick-scoring innings but will generally leave that to his partner, and Rossouw and Vince are more than capable of taking the game away from the opposition in the space of 5-10 overs. Dark Munster Posted 27 May, 2018 Share Posted 27 May, 2018 Wtf happened there? Needing 6 off last 2 overs with six wickets remaining and lose by 1 run. Incredible Just caught the solent commentary for the last few overs. The pair were waffling on with boring crap, ignoring the game in progress (assuming it was all over), and then woke up with a couple of balls left to realise that there was an actual match going on. Pilchards Posted 27 May, 2018 Share Posted 27 May, 2018 Very strange ending indeed. Ex Kent player scoring run a ball for his century and then 4 plod dot balls in the last over before running a single to a new batsman. Cricket is such an easy game to fix! Weston Saint Posted 27 May, 2018 Share Posted 27 May, 2018 I was there. Incredible bowling for the last 3 overs. Almost 3 overs of Yorkers. Well done to the Kent bowlers. Halo Stickman Posted 27 May, 2018 Share Posted 27 May, 2018 6 runs needed with 13 balls remaining; one batsman on 103, the other on 56; and we manage to lose. Can't think of a more disappointing Hampshire finish ever, tbh; although, as Weston says, credit to the Kent bowlers. The phrase 'p issing on their parade' couldn't be more apt for poor young Weatherly and Taylor. Hopefully this won't have an adverse effect on their development; both have done well recently.
