Relegation strugglers again ?

Sadly, it's starting to look that way.

We look solid enough on paper, but in reality we still seem pretty fragile, especially when under pressure. The absence of Northeast, Berg and Holland isn't helping in that respect.

We really need a couple of our players to step up to the plate today.

Adams needs a rest, and the other batsmen need a rest from him---two and a half hours for 17 after six and a half hours for 87. The whole team will die of boredom watching him set the pace. He's a nice guy and been a good servant but we've had too much of this good thing. We need a bit of joy in the team and I can't see who it is coming from

Taunton today. Good to see Crane and Berg back in the group. Dawson out injured I believe and Wood has either been dropped or is injured. Still no Holland.

Doesn't really matter either way, he's nowhere near good enough anyway - Berg in for him is a huge improvement.

Well, didn’t see that coming. Still second bottom but a draw with Vince double ton, Amla ton and Rilee hitting some runs at last, a whole lot better than what looked a heavy defeat. Leach’s thumb probably helped us, but not England. They were hopeless on Saturday, couldn’t see anything other than a defeat.

Vince has had 2 good chances to stake a claim for England - he didn't really deserve to go on the Ashes tour. There are clearly (and evidently) doubts over his international calibre, so I can understand the thinking. Bit more consistency throughout the season and he might get another crack at it.

Which is great for Hampshire. The only bit I have a problem with, is telling the players to go back to the counties and they’ll be selected on early season form, then completely ignoring that to pick an out of form Stoneman, Bess and a specialist number seven who doesn’t really play four day cricket anymore.

Makes you wonder why anybody bothers with the county championship.

Colin Munro and Rahman look good signings for T20

During the series against West Indies, Munro moved up to open in the limited overs formats. On 3 January 2018, during the series against the West Indies, he became the first player to score three centuries in T20I cricket.[11][12] With this feat, he became the no.1 T20I batsman in the world,

Well, at 133/6 needing 251, I thought our chances of winning our opening 50 over match were looking slim, but hats off to our lower order especially Berg and McManus. It would be nice to follow that victory with home wins against Surrey and Essex this week. I see the Surrey match (Mon 2pm) is on Sky.

How the **** does Chris Wood still have a contract, especially considering his knees are made of balsa wood? Just dreadful these days :spaz:

Guess we're short of back-up bowlers. I see that Wheater is digging in and hitting out yet again. Have we ever got him out cheaply since he defected to Essex?

Have they confirmed that Edwards and/or Topley are injured/knackered? Seems strange to make those changes if they're available - both are clearly absolutely light years ahead of Wood. Wheal's OK, I think, although suspect he might be better suited to the 4-day game.

Finding it difficult to look up his record now that Cricket Archive has gone behind a paywall :(

Never mind it was a rhetorical question anyway. Pîssed off with him taking us to the cleaners every bloody time we play them.

Now 66 not out from a total of 120ish from 20 overs. Looking at the openers we have, you have to think we got this one totally wrong.

If our top order doesn't panic. Still Amla and Rossouw are in fair nick and may well give us a good start.

I like our batting lineup in this format, Amla can play the big, quick-scoring innings but will generally leave that to his partner, and Rossouw and Vince are more than capable of taking the game away from the opposition in the space of 5-10 overs.

Steve, try using Cricinfo. Their stats section is pretty good as well

Wtf happened there? Needing 6 off last 2 overs with six wickets remaining and lose by 1 run. Incredible

Just caught the solent commentary for the last few overs. The pair were waffling on with boring crap, ignoring the game in progress (assuming it was all over), and then woke up with a couple of balls left to realise that there was an actual match going on.

6 runs needed with 13 balls remaining; one batsman on 103, the other on 56; and we manage to lose. Can't think of a more disappointing Hampshire finish ever, tbh; although, as Weston says, credit to the Kent bowlers. The phrase 'p issing on their parade' couldn't be more apt for poor young Weatherly and Taylor. Hopefully this won't have an adverse effect on their development; both have done well recently.
