False benchmarks

From comments section of BBC website:

Seems that no matter how poor Hart plays, he gets the nod over better form players.

Forster has been playing very well and has arguably been the best English keeper in recent seasons - only for the big club player to keep getting the game time.

As for the rest of the squad, aside from a goal last week in a rout, what has Delph done to merit his place exactly? Simple. Big club.

Just goes to show the false benchmarks fans tend to judge their team's players against.

And on a related note, every club thinks their own club takes ages to tie up transfers, is bad at corners etc.

The reality is that they only think that way because they're far more invested in their own club's activity, ie they're aware of transfer rumours earlier (so they seem to drag out longer) and watch more of their own club's corners so see more "failures"
