Saint Fan CaM Posted 16 September, 2017 Posted 16 September, 2017 Our best player...my MOM and new fav.
SaveloyMush Posted 16 September, 2017 Posted 16 September, 2017 Wow!!! What a rock, what a performance! Does that rhyme with Jemima? As I wrote on another thread (and for which I was called out): ( Romeu + Lemina ) > ( Schneiderlin + Wanyama )
alpine_saint Posted 16 September, 2017 Posted 16 September, 2017 Heres hoping him, Romeu, Hoedt and VVD can recreate the same level of understanding that Fonte, Lovren / Toby, Morgan and Wanyama had. Potentially we could end up with the best defence in the PL, but we'll have to work at it some.
trousers Posted 16 September, 2017 Posted 16 September, 2017 At long last we now have a 'schneiderlin/wanyama'-esque duo in midfield. Great foundation for the rest of the season, with VvD sticking around being the icing on the cake. We've arguably got the best back 6 group (outfield players) in the league right now. And, yes, I know I'm getting ahead of myself...
monosaint Posted 16 September, 2017 Posted 16 September, 2017 Much better than Wanyama in my view. He was awesome.
Bad Wolf Posted 16 September, 2017 Author Posted 16 September, 2017 It's like Wanyama and Schniederlin rolled into one.
austsaint Posted 16 September, 2017 Posted 16 September, 2017 Head and shoulders the best player on the pitch - strong, skilful and cultured.

alpine_saint Posted 16 September, 2017 Posted 16 September, 2017 Lets hope having that 6 in front encourages Forster to regain his form
Suhari Posted 16 September, 2017 Posted 16 September, 2017 A very worthy record signing. Power, presence, skill. Only his second EPL game? Looking forward to seeing him develop.
farawaysaint Posted 16 September, 2017 Posted 16 September, 2017 A very worthy record signing. Power, presence, skill. Only his second EPL game? Looking forward to seeing him develop. ... at Liverpool
LGTL Posted 16 September, 2017 Posted 16 September, 2017 Ridiculous performance from him really, he was utterly superb.
shurlock Posted 16 September, 2017 Posted 16 September, 2017 (edited) Strong, cultured performance, though palace totally stood off him and Romeu. Best back six Let's see how everyone gets on against the likes of City, United and Chelsea before throwing around superlatives. We just kept a clean sheet against a team that's smashing league records for ineptitude in front of goal. #thesaintswebway Edited 16 September, 2017 by shurlock

Surely the ingredients are there now; perhaps thats why we so doggedly hung on to VVD. Maybe he will now want to be part of that.
Roger Posted 16 September, 2017 Posted 16 September, 2017 Much better than Wanyama in my view. He was awesome. Too early to say that.

Suhari Posted 16 September, 2017 Posted 16 September, 2017 ... at Liverpool Is his head already there?

Nothing wrong with wishful thinking - I'm sure legions of Nigerian scam artists would agree.
CB Fry Posted 16 September, 2017 Posted 16 September, 2017 Whats wrong with a bit of positivity and wishful thinking ? . Someone's been in the Nutella jar.
Roger Posted 16 September, 2017 Posted 16 September, 2017 Lets hope having that 6 in front encourages Forster to regain his form He made 2 fab saves.
Saints foreva Posted 16 September, 2017 Posted 16 September, 2017 Decent chant for him today. Hopefully it takes off at St. Mary's.
Alain Perrin Posted 16 September, 2017 Posted 16 September, 2017 Thought Lemima looked very calm and strong, a quality signing Romeu looked a bit weak compared to his ever flawless performances last season. Like Samson, he needs to cut off his hair to regain his power.
Wiggles31 Posted 16 September, 2017 Posted 16 September, 2017 Decent chant for him today. Hopefully it takes off at St. Mary's. How's it go? And yeah what a performance. Reminds me of a Fernandinho style midfielder - box to box, skilful, strong and makes inceptions and simple/long distant passes.
Lord Duckhunter Posted 16 September, 2017 Posted 16 September, 2017 Let's see him next week against a decent side before wetting our pants. He was good today, but the space they gave him, particularly first half, my mum could have looked class. Utd next week, followed by tough battle at Stoke, we'll know a bit more after those Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
Saint_clark Posted 16 September, 2017 Posted 16 September, 2017 Decent chant for him today. Hopefully it takes off at St. Mary's. What is it? Didn't come across on the tv.
tobes8 Posted 16 September, 2017 Posted 16 September, 2017 Immensely strong and powerful and looked great on the ball. Probably with 50m now.

Saints foreva Posted 16 September, 2017 Posted 16 September, 2017 What is it? Didn't come across on the tv. Ohhhhh Mario Lemina Ohhh he is a great midfielder Ohhh he never gives the ball away. I'm struggling to think of the tune it's chanted to though!

And, yes, I know I'm getting ahead of myself... Agree, our spine is looking pretty good, especially if Forster can find some form. We just need to find a player that is basically a combination of Redmond and Tadic. (i.e. Mane) someone with the pace/movement of Redmond but the technical ability of Tadic.
Behind Enemy Lines Posted 16 September, 2017 Posted 16 September, 2017 Someone's been in the Nutella jar. You owe me a new keyboard!
Disco Stu Posted 16 September, 2017 Posted 16 September, 2017 Lemina OoOh, Lemina OoOh, He played in Italy, He f****** hates P**pey, Lemina...

[emoji6] totally agree with you.
norwaysaint Posted 16 September, 2017 Posted 16 September, 2017 I had to miss the match today, but I am confident that if Lemina was very good against Crystal Palace today, then he is probably better than Morgan Schneiderlin at his best.
supersonic Posted 16 September, 2017 Posted 16 September, 2017 Ohhhhh Mario Lemina Ohhh he is a great midfielder Ohhh he never gives the ball away. I'm struggling to think of the tune it's chanted to though! it's ****e
Oldeuboi Posted 16 September, 2017 Posted 16 September, 2017 Ohhhhh Mario Lemina Ohhh he is a great midfielder Ohhh he never gives the ball away. I'm struggling to think of the tune it's chanted to though! Earth, Wind and Fire - September (the chorus) Took me a while to get it haha.
wild-saint Posted 16 September, 2017 Posted 16 September, 2017 Earth, Wind and Fire - September (the chorus) Took me a while to get it haha. Wasn't it the song the Watford fans were singing all game last week but obviously their players name inserted?
Saint_clark Posted 16 September, 2017 Posted 16 September, 2017 Earth, Wind and Fire - September (the chorus) Took me a while to get it haha. Ah yeah, very good! Second line could do with changing, reckon it'd work better as; Mario, Mario Lemina, Mario, he's a great midfielder, Mario, Never gives the ball awayyy...
egg Posted 16 September, 2017 Posted 16 September, 2017 Well, I misjudged him! I didn't think much of him in the west ham game but today he was absolutely superb. Looks a hell of a player.
supersonic Posted 16 September, 2017 Posted 16 September, 2017 Came through the ranks and learnt his trade at a smaller club, went to a big club and did well but never a big enough name nor, sadly, good enough to cut it there so we've got ourselves a nice little deal. Very much like Morgan Schneiderlin's situation (albeit Lemina was cheaper). Looks to be very good and the type of player we need.
SaintBobby Posted 16 September, 2017 Posted 16 September, 2017 He was utterly superb today. Man Utd will obviously be a different proposition though.
ericb Posted 16 September, 2017 Posted 16 September, 2017 Utterly superb today. Different class to everything else on the pitch. Think we might've found our next gem Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
S-Clarke Posted 16 September, 2017 Posted 16 September, 2017 Absolutely outstanding. I don't want to get too carried away as Palace just allowed him to do what he wanted to do. But even when they did pressure him, he used a trick to get out of a tight spot. You can usually tell a 'player' pretty early on in their club career, and this guy is a proper player. Touch, technique, pace, intelligence, strength. He ticks a lot of boxes.
Lord Duckhunter Posted 16 September, 2017 Posted 16 September, 2017 Wasn't it the song the Watford fans were singing all game last week but obviously their players name inserted? Can't be; "We're Southampton, we sing our own songs". Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
foxy9143 Posted 16 September, 2017 Posted 16 September, 2017 Utterly superb today. Different class to everything else on the pitch. Think we might've found our next gem Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk All hail to the mysterious Black Box
