Guided Missile Posted 11 September, 2017 Share Posted 11 September, 2017 ...but am I the only one that struggles to have any sympathy for the plight of the British Virgin Islands? The British Virgin Islands' premier, Orlando Smith, said: ....they would need long-term help from the UK: "We are a resilient people but this has shaken us to our core. "A comprehensive economic package for reconstruction backed by the UK Government will be needed over the long-term in order to return to normalcy," Meanwhile, that well known tax dodger, Sir Richard Branson is on the case: He said he was there "to further mobilise aid efforts and rebuilding plans for the British Virgin Islands and wider Caribbean". Sir Richard said he would be talking to various governments and aid agencies as well as the media, and would be heading straight back to the British Virgin Islands to continue helping the recovery effort on the ground. For those that are interested, the tax structure of the British Virgin Islands is as follows: no capital gains tax, no gift tax, no sales tax or value added tax, no profit tax, no inheritance tax or estate duty, and no corporation tax. There is technically still income tax assessed in the British Virgin Islands for companies and individuals, but the rate of taxation has been set at zero. The UK taxpayer gets mugged again....
