skintsaint Posted 26 October, 2017 Posted 26 October, 2017 not even as first team coach or something ?
mrfahaji Posted 26 October, 2017 Posted 26 October, 2017 not even as first team coach driver or something ? fixed?
captainchris Posted 26 October, 2017 Posted 26 October, 2017 Could end up at Leicester now? If a comment is worth making why not back up with some evidence or reasoning ?? I can think of none otherwise...
bowers-sfc Posted 26 October, 2017 Posted 26 October, 2017 Would be a loss. Despite what we all think ( my self include ) he's very well liked/respected by a lot of the players. Including the 'senior players'
skintsaint Posted 27 October, 2017 Posted 27 October, 2017 If a comment is worth making why not back up with some evidence or reasoning ?? I can think of none otherwise... It was a question not a comment, also the reasoning is most managers try and keep the same back room staff they had at other clubs, I would have thought that bit was obvious.
saint lard Posted 4 November, 2017 Author Posted 4 November, 2017 Still I place...we are still ****. Wake now! It’s a running theme since his appointment. We are his Aston Villa! Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
badgerx16 Posted 4 November, 2017 Posted 4 November, 2017 ... he's very well liked/respected by a lot of the players. Including the 'senior players'Is that because he panders to their egos, and tells them how wonderfully they are doing ?
obelisk Posted 4 November, 2017 Posted 4 November, 2017 Black was at Villa when they were rubbish. He was at Saints last season when they were rubbish. He's still at Saints and they're still rubbish. Get rid.
darren2 Posted 13 December, 2017 Posted 13 December, 2017 Clearly the common denominator. Leicester under Puel were great. We were an embarrassing mess. Black has relegated every team he's been with.
saint lard Posted 13 December, 2017 Author Posted 13 December, 2017 Anyone still disagree? Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
saint peter Posted 13 December, 2017 Posted 13 December, 2017 Black was at Villa when they were rubbish. He was at Saints last season when they were rubbish. He's still at Saints and they're still rubbish. Get rid. Entirely agree!!!
saint peter Posted 13 December, 2017 Posted 13 December, 2017 Clearly the common denominator. Leicester under Puel were great. We were an embarrassing mess. Black has relegated every team he's been with. 100% agree ... FFS Saints get rid of Eric Black, and while you're at it, please give Les Reed the boot as well!!!
captainchris Posted 13 December, 2017 Posted 13 December, 2017 Would be a loss. Despite what we all think ( my self include ) he's very well liked/respected by a lot of the players. Including the 'senior players' I rest my case your honour and thank you for presenting the evidence so well....
Suhari Posted 15 December, 2017 Posted 15 December, 2017 Various posts on other threads saying he has left the club, although nothing on the club site about it. Fake news? Any ITKs want to comment?
alehouseboys Posted 15 December, 2017 Posted 15 December, 2017 I've heard rumours he went a couple of weeks back, puzzling why the club have held back with an official statement. He's just waiting for Pellegrino to get the push and then he's coming back in a 'Tartan-Dream-Team' with Strachan. Thankfully, that bit is fake news.
Stoozer Posted 15 December, 2017 Posted 15 December, 2017 I don't think he was on the bench with the other coaches for the Arsenal or Leicester game as far as I could see.
Pamplemousse Posted 15 December, 2017 Posted 15 December, 2017 A few people on twitter said he wasn’t on the bench on Wednesday.
doddisalegend Posted 15 December, 2017 Posted 15 December, 2017 A few people on twitter said he wasn’t on the bench on Wednesday. So in fact our worst 1st team performance of the last two seasons came becuase Eric Black wasn't with the team.......
striker Posted 15 December, 2017 Posted 15 December, 2017 So in fact our worst 1st team performance of the last two seasons came becuase Eric Black wasn't with the team....... Time to start the "We need Black back to fix the squad" threads.
ART Posted 15 December, 2017 Posted 15 December, 2017 I personally believe Black has a far et term idea of picking the squad and game tactics than Pellegrino. We could de far worse than getting shot of Pellegrino and putting Black in charge while to look for a new manager.

We could de far worse than getting shot of Pellegrino and putting Black in charge while to look for a new manager. Looks like autocorrect may have struck again. My translation: Black has a far better idea of picking the squad and game tactics than Pellegrino.
St_Tel49 Posted 15 December, 2017 Posted 15 December, 2017 Anyone still disagree? Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk I'm still waiting for evidence. All I read is hearsay and inconclusive stats that could easily be down to other things.
Pamplemousse Posted 15 December, 2017 Posted 15 December, 2017 I don't really believe Eric Black has or had that much influence, so shouldn't be criticised IMO, just like Sammy Lee is lauded on here by some. The difference is we were winning more when Sammy Lee was here. Dave Watson's been here throughout both their spells too.
Avenue_Saint Posted 15 December, 2017 Posted 15 December, 2017 Black should go. What ever level of influence he exerts, during his time here, we have badly regressed. Contributing factor. Without doubt

If a first team coach isn't having much influence on the team, then why are we employing him?
sadoldgit Posted 16 December, 2017 Posted 16 December, 2017 I'm still waiting for evidence. All I read is hearsay and inconclusive stats that could easily be down to other things. Exactly. This is scapegoatism at its best. No one here has an idea what he does or how good or bad he is. It is just total supposition. Last season we were told on here constantly that he was the problem and that the players hated him and yet he was kept on apparently because he is well liked by the players! The mob needs a sacrificial lamb when things are going wrong and with any supporting evidence, Black is the latest.
Saint Fan CaM Posted 16 December, 2017 Posted 16 December, 2017 If he’s been given the boot, then perhaps Weds game performance was the ‘senior’ players letting Reed know what they think about it? Nothing would surprise me now.
Mallagroth Posted 16 December, 2017 Posted 16 December, 2017 We need to stop pandering to what our Senior Players want as on the whole our senior players think they Are a lot better than they are and half want to **** off at the slightest sniff of a pay increase. That is the problem with this team. The mentality and teamwork is completely eroded. A large part of this is that the club message is we accept mediocrity. How many players and managers who have left need to say the words ‘no ambition’ before it becomes clear where the problem has been growing ever since Poch’s departure.
simo Posted 20 December, 2017 Posted 20 December, 2017 Still no word on our senior first team coach going Mia ?
trousers Posted 21 December, 2017 Posted 21 December, 2017 Official.... https://southamptonfc.com/news/2017-12-21/eric-black-southampton-senior-first-team-coach-resignation Southampton Football Club can today confirm that Eric Black has resigned from his position as Senior First Team Coach for personal reasons. Eric has been suffering the effects of previous back injuries sustained during his playing career, and has decided to address these issues now. Given this could mean a spell out of action, Eric feels the time is right to take a break from the game. Les Reed, Vice Chairman (Football), said: "Eric Black is a fine coach and a true professional who is popular with the players and staff and always gave 100 per cent to his job. Fortunately, his situation is not serious and we hope he will be back in a tracksuit at some point in the future. "Everyone at Southampton wishes him a speedy recovery. I would also personally like to thank him for his diligent work during his time with the club.”
