Look out for me .... under the floodlight pylon near corner of Milton Road and West Stand. Should be a couple of Red and White scarves draped over the wall.

Had to queue up at about 1200 to ensure getting a place at the front so that I could see!! Pre season ticket standing, think loads got locked out.

Spoiler alert ... George Best at his best ripped us a new one and scored a hat trick in 5-2 home loss.!! Wasn't this just after the 8-0 mauling at Everton? And to think people moan about our defensive frailties nowadays :mcinnes:

It's in black and white and yes, it was the Saturday after the 8-0. I was at both.

I thought the game where we 3 down to WHU and then drew 3 all was that period

It was the next home game. 2 weeks later. Inbetween we lost 1-0 at Spurs.

The bad run followed a great 2-1 home win v Leeds, in which Brian O'Neil was stretchered off. We didn't see him for nearly 4 months. 6 weeks for the injury and then 9 weeks suspension for numerous bookings. We had lost Fisher, to a broken leg, the previous month.

O'Neil's return game? The 7-0 at Leeds. :mcinnes:

It was a sobering period, but I was 11 and they were the greatest team in the word to my mind. I was at the 3 home games you mention, right at the front of the Archers end wall behind the goal

i was at the Leeds and West Ham games but fortunatley not the Man u game as my Dad had sorted out a hlf share of a Season ticket for West Stand Centre with a workmate of his

The West Ham comeback one of my most memorable early games, in particular Terry Paine's goal where in the build up Mick Channon turned Bobby Moore inside out before laying the ball off to Paine, and Paine's celebration afterwards

A vivid reminder of what an outstanding player he was.

When you see the ridiculous prices being fetched by pretty average players today, how much would George be worth?

Surprised they showed it in B&W. It was definitely in colour. MOTD started being broadcast in colour in November 1969 - its a common pub quiz question.

Being a sad Doctor Who fan I can tell you the BBC wiped a lot of video up until the mid 70s. The stuff that exists in black and white was usually returned from overseas sales from countries that didn't yet have colour and we're lucky to have that still exist.
