Lemina has just scored a world class goal. Get in there.

2-0 to Gabon away from home against Ivory Coast

Commentator: 'thats why Saints paid that much money for him, athletic and technically brilliant'

Bugger.

That's his worldy for the season then.

Meanwhile. Anyone mentioned Golf lately? I know Old Nick is absolutely dying for updates about being called up for Team Europe for the Ryder Cup.

Nah don't worry I'll sod off back to papsweb now & just annoy Granty with it on Twitter

Lemina subbed off. Wasnt watching but he looked tired apparently.

Hopefully we can build him up to 90mins soon.

Worked his arse off tbf

From The Guardian live blog, and no surprises for Saints fans:

- The second half begins at a fairly frenetic pace, with Dusan Tadic failing to put his boot through the ball and making life easy for Ireland goalkeeper Darren Randolph after being put through.

and

-Another chance for Shane Long: Shane Long picks up the ball on the left flank, cuts inside and tries a shot. He fails to connect properly with his low drive and Serbia goalkeeper Vladimir Stojković saves comfortably at his near post.

He'll be too knackered to play for us at the weekend then, won't he?

Yeah I was thinking that Pellegrino might want to give Tadic a break and perhaps try Boufal instead. Tadic will probably throw a strop though.

It's okay, he'll slowly shuffle back and forth three or four times, giving the manager plenty of time to prepare for the onslaught, before meekly delivering less a strop more a whispered grumble, that comes to nothing and will be everyone else's fault.

I only watched the first half but thought Tadic was excellent at times putting through some excellent passes, if anything it exposes the poor movement around him at Saints that we don't benefit from that more, especially midfielders with pace making runs into space as he threaded the ball through many times.

Long was frustrating getting drawn into making fouls as he often does with us.

I took this video the other night at the game. Only 20 secs or so but it sounds much better with Ulster accents singing it! lol

Were you the one singing flat? :-)

Look forward to hearing this sung (with or without Ulster accents) at the weekend, with the singing lead by Verlaine and Derry. Sure they will know the words and the tune.

There is certainly a very healthy norn iron contingent of saints fans on this forum. Much like our own Stevie Davis, a very underappreciated bunch of posters. C'mon lads let's give em a rendition of sweet Caroline

I'm finding it really really hard to watch Eng vs Slovenia. Fortunately I slept through most of the 1st half. This is dire, coupled with an overly turgid commentary on ITV.

Harry Kane (he's one of our own), powers one into the top corner from 30 yards.

I'm my dreams.

What the heck is wrong with Bertrand he doesn't look fit at all, too slow getting forward, too slow to get back, hopeless positioning, passing backwards and slowing up play. No wonder he got booed late on. So it's not just when he plays for us, is he over the hill already?

Posted

Bertrand is probably as bored and disillusioned with England as the rest of us are. We're going to get ripped several new ones next summer. And bore us all in the process.

Well at 8-0 with a few minutes left, the Sweden-Luxembourg game is not exactly going the way VVD and the Dutch would’ve hoped.

So what does that mean for the Dutch, do they have to win their game and hope to thrash Sweden by a huge amount to get 2nd.

Holland are 6 points behind with 2 to play, the last fixture being against Sweden. Their goal difference is 14 worse than Sweden

Posted

Holland need to stuff Belarus and then hope they can make up the goal difference in their game against Sweden. Sweden beat Belarus pretty handily in the last round. It’s not looking good for the Dutch.

Who knows what would have happened in their September games if VVD had been playing and was available for the Dutch national team. They could have been in a much better position.

His own stupid fault as far as I'm concerned

But pretty much as anyone with even a passing interest in football would have expected.

Considering Luxembourg drew 0-0 against France in the last round, the Dutch may have hoped for a closer result.

The Dutch aren't even winning. Not looking good for them really

all their good players got old together, they really aren’t very good at the moment, rebuilding job required.

Shame as the Dutch are one of the teams I look forward to watching during a World Cup.

Remember the last WC in 2014 and in particular watching out for a young prospect called Classie who was tipped for great things and linked with top clubs.

At least England are more consistent - crap and underachieving, generation after generation.

Complete freak result. Luxembourg are and always have been whipping boys. Everyone knows it.

To be fair they have improved in recent qualifiers so are only **** these days as opposed to Gibraltar****.
