The signings (many loans granted) he made last year were inspired and managed to get a tiny club, favourite for relegation, to a cup final and mid table safety. He must have a few little gems in mind?

It's something which was derided in the early-mid 00's, but it's crept in to the point where every single club now has a 'Recruitment Panel' of sorts. There's nothing stopping the manager making suggestions what so ever, but signings these days at all clubs are joint efforts by the scouting teams and coaching staff. When you think about how quickly managers chop and change jobs, it's probably a more sensible approach - fill a club with a managers signings and you're setting yourself up for a bit of a mess come the inevitable parting.

Koeman would quite openly talk about them, Adkins would not comment at all and Pellegrino seems to be coy or plays dumb. Just something we'll have to get used to and try to interpret, I guess.

All the signings look like 'les' players that had been in the pipeline a long time. It's not as if we have 11 fantastic starters that you can't improve on without spending huge money? It's just weird how he did an amazing job in la liga with a bang average team mostly because of excellent work in the transfer window yet he hasn't brought in one player from Spain or his homeland? Odd? Does his contract say you are just a coach and we give you the players?
