Does anyone really believe that the manager and coaching staff haven't noticed that scoring goals is a problem. We have the players but they need to refine the skills. Football training isn't just about fitness and ball skills and I think we can be certain that shooting practice is becoming a higher priority. Feel sure we'll see some results very soon.

CP did not go for just the results there were bigger issues going on, relationship with players, lack of attendance at the training ground, communication issues etc. As for J Rod and SG, the former got very little support from fans last year, other than Bournemouth he struggled to impress when given a chance. I actually did not want him to go, but the club favour the 3 in situ. SG did not get a real chance pre season but could not make an impact. The issue we have: midfielders are not scoring and support to the striker is not quick enough, plus we have no Pelle to hold the ball up, Redmond should have scored yesterday. Lets face it, this team with the same players, pushed United in the cup final and looked dangerous, confidence is not there at the moment. The Lemina choice is strange a lot of money for a defensive midfielder when we have Clasie and Hojberg, we need a player who can beat a man and score, sadly Boufal has not replaced Mane, Redmond has not kicked on, Tadic has gone backwards and Davis is not getting younger. The fans are getting a bit fed up and negative which is understandable, but the talent is there, the confidence is not. MP is now getting stick, the only thing I would say is that we should be a bit braver at home against teams below the top 6, 2 sitting midfield players, time to rethink?

Insame that we haven't made an attacking signing yet this summer.

Those sort of statistics would eventually lead to a relegation battle.

Before the Huddersfield game we were only behind one of the other 19 PL clubs in chances created, Relegation threatened clubs don’t have those sort of stats.

Last season and this season we have lost sight of the main aims in football score goals, stop goals. We seem to have made the be all and end all aim, keep the ball. We have made over 2000 passes this season and scored one goal from play. Nothing new there then as at the end of last season we made over 3000 passes in the last six home games and didn't manage to score a single goal. Yet we are still playing the same culprits and leaving Austin and Long on the bench.

It's time for the manager to earn his millions and set up a formation that ditches the non goal scorers and gets Austin, Long and Gabbiadini on the pitch at the same time.

Do we? I'd strongly suggest that we don't. The midfield hasn't chipped with any number of goals for three years and yet the personnel remains the same or becomes a downgrade on what we had (Redmond)

They can practice all they like but if they freeze in a match they won't score. That's why Austin and Lambert scored penalties for fun but Tadic is nervous and misses or scores luckily or Redmond missed the vital penalty in the U21 shootout. They don't get into the box and take chances because they are frightened of missing and would rather not be there.

He's had 19 minutes so far in the league, against Sawnsea. It isn't easy to score from the bench.

It's more a comment of his Saints career in general. The answer is apparently a man who has scored two goals in a year, against Sunderland reserves and Boro.

I actually think Redmond has quite a sharp shot on him- once he gains some confidence he'll bang them in. Was our top scorer last season, can see him getting another 10 or so. Hopefully the main source of goals will be Gabbiadini, then hope our midfield can contribute some// Maya can finally finish a header from 3 yards out. Lots more games this season. Understandable that people are bringing up stats from last season and getting frustrated but the simple fact is we have a new manager now, Puel is gone, and it will take some time for his ideas to bed into the squad. You are absolutely lying if you say you can't see a difference between this season and last season's football.

Admittedly, we could do with another attacking player to add 'creativity' but in reality it's up to our players to finish chances that they get. If we were more clinical, we'd seriously be a force. I think we have the personnel to do well now, just need to start getting the goals and hopefully confidence will flow into players like Tadic and Redmond. I would also like to see some mix up of Tadic and Boufal, however, we've played 4 games this season, Tadic started 3 and Boufal 1, so Boufal is still in the manager's plans. Very possible he'll start some other games in the season.

Finally, as with last year, I highly doubt that this forum has found the hidden secret in that we are failing to score. Internally I'm sure there is extra effort into finishing and chance creation (though arguably, we don't need many more chances).

remind me how minutes he has played this year and last compared to Tadic and ask who would you want in the team?

It's not about minutes he just hasn't looked good, apart from a few tricks and turns. We've scored one goal in the last 8 games when he's been on the pitch (that's Saints as a team, not him personally) and that was at Boro when he started, wasn't involved and got dragged off at half time.

I'm not saying Tadic is good at the moment but he at least has been in the past, more so when played on the left.
