With the fixtures we've got, we could well be top of the league by September 10th. Of course, we wouldn't stay there, but it would be nice to it at the top of the Premier League for the first time.

 

Have we ever had 4 opening PL fixtures whiich looked easier than these?

I guarantee the fans of three of those clubs are saying something similar about an easy 3pts playing us...especially as we are at home.

It is certainly an opportunity, however it never seems to work like that for Saints, especially as we have never won a opening game at home in the Prem.

 

The season we got relegated I think we lost a lot of easy home games which gave us a mountain to climb by the time we sorted our **** out, so it can work both ways.

Huddersfield away isn't easy in the slightest. It's the one fixture I wanted to avoid early on.

Bah humbug. There was life before the Premier League! We were top of the league in 1981/82 for several weeks. And it was in January/February, not at the start of the season. We did trail off rather badly at the end of that season and finished 7th. Two years later we finished runners up, although that was the result of a good late run and we never actually topped the table that season.

Thought it was a silly thread at the time and it has proven to be so. Unlike you, I'm a fan of sfc so I'd like nothing better than us to be performing to our best but it was clear we weren't going to do that without some key signings.

The worrying thing is we look so ****e after such easy fixtures, ****ing up winnable home games early in the season saw us relegated last time.

 

Nothing wrong with the thread, the fixture list gave us a good opportunity to be around the top of the table early on but we have failed miserably.
