Nordic Saint Posted 6 August, 2017 Posted 6 August, 2017 Only a few seats left. Looks likely to be sold out. Saints' average home league gates in the top flight at St Mary's: 2016/17 30,936 2015/16 30,751 2014/15 30,741 2013/14 30,212 2012/13 30,874 2004/05 30,610 2003/04 31,699 2002/03 30,680 2001/02 30,633 At the Dell: 2000/01 15,115 1999/00 15.132 1998/99 15,140 1997/98 15,159 1996/97 15,099 1995/96 14,820 1994/95 14,685 1993/94 14,751 1992/93 15,382 Some in the think small brigade would have said there was no need for a bigger stadium because we couldn't fill the Dell every game in 1993 and 1994. They're saying the same now because there aren't tens of thousands locked out every game. An upper tier on the Kingsland, taking the capacity up to 38,000, would be filled, just the same as St Mary's was.
hutch Posted 6 August, 2017 Posted 6 August, 2017 Oh I dunno, he has a point. Maybe it is time to hike ticket prices up.
Disco Stu Posted 6 August, 2017 Posted 6 August, 2017 I'd love a stadium expansion, especially looking from an architectural perspective however those figures just go to show that our stadium is the perfect size right now. Give it another decade and our circumstances may justify it.

With your logic, we'd still be stuck at the Dell, with a 15,000 capacity.
diggers Posted 6 August, 2017 Posted 6 August, 2017 Surely the average is affected by the number of visiting fans? If they don't sell out, we can't have a full house.
Pamplemousse Posted 6 August, 2017 Posted 6 August, 2017 I wonder how many we would be able to sell for games against Man Utd, Arsenal etc.
suewhistle Posted 6 August, 2017 Posted 6 August, 2017 Oh I dunno, he has a point. Maybe it is time to hike ticket prices up. I think I may just have chortled, although it was a little bit like a snort too. :-)

Besides, the majority of games last season still had seats in the chapel itchen corner so the capacity is fine to me. We need to be selling out games other than the ones against top 6 and first/last game.

ALWAYS_SFC Posted 6 August, 2017 Posted 6 August, 2017 You a slaphead then? Think you'll find he's a Richard head
shurlock Posted 6 August, 2017 Posted 6 August, 2017 You a slaphead then? Doesn't quite have the same ring.
krissyboy31 Posted 6 August, 2017 Posted 6 August, 2017 I'm in the expansion camp, under the premise you can't grow if you have no room to grow! The problem is does the cost out-way the benefit. If it is going to cost £50/60 million to add 10k seats, most would suggest it does. I reckon it may take another FA bid for a world cup for it to happen!!
spyinthesky Posted 6 August, 2017 Posted 6 August, 2017 I am pleasantly surprised about this Assumed we would be down about 4,000 on our season ticket sales and thought the issues re VVD, general lack of entertainment at home games last season and no big name signings would have restricted the crowd to below 30,000 Good news if we exceed 30,000
sammysaint Posted 6 August, 2017 Posted 6 August, 2017 If all Adult tickets are capped at 30 and kids prices stay as they are we would get 35-36,000 each week no problem.

Saints foreva Posted 6 August, 2017 Posted 6 August, 2017 Hopefully the atmosphere at SMS this season isn't as **** as it was last season.
vectraman Posted 6 August, 2017 Posted 6 August, 2017 Hopefully the atmosphere at SMS this season isn't as **** as it was last season. Depends if the play inspires the fans or not... Last season desperately dull. Hopefully the new manager is somewhat more progressive at home...
whelk Posted 6 August, 2017 Posted 6 August, 2017 Hopefully the atmosphere at SMS this season isn't as **** as it was last season. We may get the hilarious sit down if you love the skates.
The Cat Posted 6 August, 2017 Posted 6 August, 2017 We may get the hilarious sit down if you love the skates. What we need to get back to is the days when people would wave their season tickets in the air to signify they were better fans than others.
