Ok guys here is the deal we have sold Van D for £60 million

Board have allowed us to get in a few new players to strengthen the team

Who do you sign and why? realistic signings over

I will go first :)

DC - Hoedt and Wimmer - strengthen the back line.

DEf Mid - Krychowiak ( play alongside Romeu or cover)

ATT Mid - Patrick Roberts

That would not represent at "Fantasy" as it would be classed as selling on the cheap, the asking price is £75

CB - Christensen & another (I like the look of Hoedt or Martins Indi, not sure on Wimmer)

CDM - Carvalho (probably too expensive if we bring in 2 cb's) or Krychowiak

OK so in the spirit of the OP - here goes!

So starting with the fact that we have sold VVD to Chelsea for £60M plus Andreas Christensen - here is what we do in 'realistic fantasy' land - and keeping with our supposed buy young players with potential strategy:

And then with the £60M sign:

DC: Wesley Hoedt from Lazio

FW: Patrick Roberts from Man City

FW: Yann Karamoh from Caen

Play Jack Stephens as a defensive midfielder, sell Clasie and Long and loan out Gardos.

CB, Yannick Vestergaard 15m

DCM, William Carvahlio 25m

AM, Hakim Zyech 25m

Would like Hoedt as well if we could stretch another 18m, I put Vestergaard instead as I know very little about Hoedt apart from what I've recently read

Sigurdsson would be a poor signing at £50m, which they want. Good set pieces, most his assists from there, a few open play goals but not many. He's the player I would hope JWP can become here. So it depends if you think he's currently £50m better than JWP. If not we should spend elsewhere.

The amount is an almost irrelevant thing nowadays, when comparing it to quality. It doesn't mean much anymore in terms of how great a player is individually. Would he make the team better in ways that we need? Could he be the missing piece that can help other players shine? I don't know if he can, but those are the more important questions than whether the amount is too high or not.
