musesaint Posted 2 August, 2017 Posted 2 August, 2017 Glad I dodged the rain and stayed at home tbh Hope we're better on Saturday !
Batman Posted 2 August, 2017 Posted 2 August, 2017 This thread is an absolute disgrace. Hit the woodwork twice, had the lion's share of chances and conceded 2 fantastic goals. Hardly worthy of this ridiculous meltdown. Pathetic. who is having a meltdown. The performance is dreadful. people are saying how they see it
Leo_ARG Posted 2 August, 2017 Posted 2 August, 2017 I'm fine with the offensive effort given the players that out there. But the defensive coverage is sooo poor once they get past the midfield (wich they've done far too easily too). PEH is a non-factor. I rather see Clasie given more of a shot at that position. Yoshi is the only one on the back four from the starting eleven and it shows. But even him has looked weak.
Saints foreva Posted 2 August, 2017 Posted 2 August, 2017 Let's be honest though, this isn't going to be our defence for Swansea. Only Yoshida will probably start, Pied maybe depending on Cedric's fitness Thing is they aren't getting much protection from the CMs.
Lallana's Left Peg Posted 2 August, 2017 Posted 2 August, 2017 You get bad performances in league games and friendlies, let's not overreact. I think it's needed to see where the weaknesses are and what needs improving. In fairness the game has been very even but we didn't take our chances and got punished for it. It's a poor performance in terms of movement and silly mistakes. But by no means should it mean a meltdown on here. They are the same ones as last season which exist because we have the same players: - no cohesion, balance or understanding in the final third - limited physical presence which allows teams to attack us directly with purpose and just stride past us These are limitations of our personnel and not our manager. Still, its just a pre-season friendly with half a team who won't start against Swansea I suppose.
Manuel Posted 2 August, 2017 Posted 2 August, 2017 Can't see much improvement in Hoj, can tackle but gives the ball away too often and nearly every pass backwards.

tisspahars Posted 2 August, 2017 Posted 2 August, 2017 Not long now till the anyone but Puel brigade become anyone but Mope imo.....
doddisalegend Posted 2 August, 2017 Posted 2 August, 2017 I have to say sitting here at SMS we aren't looking much different from last season style wise. A bit more pressing (not very effectively it has to be said) than under Puel but mostly its get the ball out wide and bang in a cross to a lone saints player who actually bothered to get into the box.
doddisalegend Posted 2 August, 2017 Posted 2 August, 2017 Can't see much improvement in Hoj, can tackle but gives the ball away too often and nearly every pass backwards. Yep looks poor again tonight as does JWP, Long and Targett
doggface Posted 2 August, 2017 Posted 2 August, 2017 really struggling to find a decent stream if anyone can help. i am abroad so the club one is not working and facebook live I cannot find for either club for some reason (again maybe location). thanks
Saints1976 Posted 2 August, 2017 Posted 2 August, 2017 I wouldn't read too much into a pre season game.
Pamplemousse Posted 2 August, 2017 Posted 2 August, 2017 Swansea are a far worse side than us, we will beat them easily.

eurosaint Posted 2 August, 2017 Author Posted 2 August, 2017 This thread is an absolute disgrace. Hit the woodwork twice, had the lion's share of chances and conceded 2 fantastic goals. Hardly worthy of this ridiculous meltdown. Pathetic. Don't worry mate, it's the way of things on here - be happy that nobody has yet talked about giving up their season tickets ! I honestly wonder if some of these prats have ever watched pre-season friendlies before ! Result means nothing, the object of the exercise is that the manager learns about players and tactics, then when the season proper starts the intensity kicks in, it's an 'open doors' training match, nothing more !

Pamplemousse Posted 2 August, 2017 Posted 2 August, 2017 missed these posts. It's true though. They are very strong contenders for relegation, with or without Sigurdsson.
suewhistle Posted 2 August, 2017 Posted 2 August, 2017 Targett looks fine to me. Shows how opinions differ and you can't believe everything you read on an internet thread. Defensive midfield and defence at fault for the goals, but as I joked to my neighbour, we've got a strong bench!
Saint Fan CaM Posted 2 August, 2017 Posted 2 August, 2017 This what happens when a club gets complacent in terms of new blood...at our level you need that to provide competition to drive up standards. We've gone backwards over the last 2 seasons and now look a less cohesive/effective side than our first season back in the Prem IMO. Poor show Les & Co.

Yes the result is unimportant but with one pre season game left you would expect to see encouraging signs in the performance and start to get a feeling for the new managers style. So far it would seem the style and performances aren't really any different from last season.
Pamplemousse Posted 2 August, 2017 Posted 2 August, 2017 Romeu off, so Hoj and Clasie in midfield!! Could be fun. Perhaps a message from MP to the board to get their fingers out of their asses
Heisenberg Posted 2 August, 2017 Posted 2 August, 2017 Not long now till the anyone but Puel brigade become anyone but Mope imo..... Les Reed OUT more like.
LGTL Posted 2 August, 2017 Posted 2 August, 2017 Good to see the home form is improving from last season then.
saintadjg Posted 2 August, 2017 Posted 2 August, 2017 Looks good thanks alot Got a blocked by court order via virgin media

IOWSaintDaz Posted 2 August, 2017 Posted 2 August, 2017 If we play like this Saturday, Sevilla will tear us a new a$$hole for Van Djik to hide in
Suhari Posted 2 August, 2017 Posted 2 August, 2017 Not seeing a real style or personality to our play. Early days of course, but still....
BotleySaint Posted 2 August, 2017 Posted 2 August, 2017 Unmarked 6 yards out. No-one even close to him. 3-0.
LGTL Posted 2 August, 2017 Posted 2 August, 2017 After the failings last season, it's mad that we are 10 days away from the season and we've signed...... A third choice defender.
Shance Posted 2 August, 2017 Posted 2 August, 2017 Some of the defending has been really poor. Way too much space in the box.
Suhari Posted 2 August, 2017 Posted 2 August, 2017 Unmarked header, 6 yards out and totally central. A little concerning.
Saint Pete Posted 2 August, 2017 Posted 2 August, 2017 Gaping hole where our centre backs should have been!
Crab Lungs Posted 2 August, 2017 Posted 2 August, 2017 Our opposition is faced with our lightweight midfield... and if they get through that, a lightweight defence and if they get through that, the worst goalkeeper in the top division. Lolz.
SuperSAINT Posted 2 August, 2017 Posted 2 August, 2017 The scratching sound i can hear is Les Reed writing "Sakho on loan as part of any Virgil deal" when the 3rd went in.
Pilchards Posted 2 August, 2017 Posted 2 August, 2017 I think I've worked out the problem we have at the moment and it's really simple too. Everytime we have a great player we sell them and replace them with someone who is average.
Monk Posted 2 August, 2017 Posted 2 August, 2017 Why bother signing Badnerak - carbon copy of Gardos.
DT Posted 2 August, 2017 Posted 2 August, 2017 Augsburg finished thirteenth out of eighteen in the Bundesliga. Yikes. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
