nta786 Posted 8 November, 2017 Share Posted 8 November, 2017 Cork was always good for us, didn't he play every match in our promotion season from the championship? I think we would have happily kept him, but his chances were limited by having Morgan, Wanyama and Davis all deserving their places. It was smart for him to move on. The Cork and Schneiderlin pairing was one of the best we've ever had in midfield. it was corks introduction in our opening season when he came back from injury we started doing well! (oh and having shaw over fox too i guess) honestly miss that british spine we had back then now that i think about it! Boruc Clyne Fonte Maya Shaw Cork Morgan Davis Lallana JayRod Lambert 7, plus Kelvin sometimes and also Puncheon back then.
nta786 Posted 8 November, 2017 Share Posted 8 November, 2017 Says 13.5m here buddy https://www.transfermarkt.co.uk/southampton-fc/transfers/verein/180/plus/0?saison_id=2015&pos=&detailpos=&w_s= lol equally that website claims we received £31.5m for Morgan and £15 for Clyne where I thought it was £25m and £12m respectively. Clasie was reported to be £8m in this link (BBC): http://www.bbc.co.uk/sport/football/33545453 no doubt you will look for the lesser fees when it comes to us selling players but look for the website which suggests we paid for more than we did in reality. DuncanRG Posted 8 November, 2017 Share Posted 8 November, 2017 This was the point i was trying to make. Cork wanted to be here but the club bowed down to two players that didn't and which we were on the verge of selling anyway. Should have kept cork and moved on the other two. Short sighted strat which has left us with a team lacking fight and with only a smattering of loyal club men in the team. Can you point to a moment in the last five years where we've been short in central midfield?
OldNick Posted 8 November, 2017 Share Posted 8 November, 2017 Just shows how poor of selection England have of midfielders. if he was any good he would have made his place his own at SMS
