alpine_saint Posted 6 July, 2017 Posted 6 July, 2017 Cant see he would ever let us down in the effort department.
Saint Garrett Posted 6 July, 2017 Posted 6 July, 2017 He can't get a game in the championship - and he's always been the case of he takes a while to get fit and picks up his touch with minutes, he would never get that here.
Dan Johnson Posted 6 July, 2017 Posted 6 July, 2017 I wouldn't let us down in the effort department either, can i get a contract too?
Nolan Posted 6 July, 2017 Posted 6 July, 2017 Cant see he would ever let us down in the effort department. I can't see the man willing to accept a contract like that. Sent from my Nexus 6P using Tapatalk
SuperSAINT Posted 6 July, 2017 Posted 6 July, 2017 We have a vacancy for penalty taking coach*... *Penalty Taker
Nolan Posted 6 July, 2017 Posted 6 July, 2017 *Penalty Taker JWP should have that judging from his u21 penalty shoot out kick. Sent from my Nexus 6P using Tapatalk
SuperSAINT Posted 6 July, 2017 Posted 6 July, 2017 JWP should have that judging from his u21 penalty shoot out kick. Agreed.
buctootim Posted 6 July, 2017 Posted 6 July, 2017 I can't see the man willing to accept a contract like that. Mainly because he wouldnt earn anything
Pamplemousse Posted 6 July, 2017 Posted 6 July, 2017 If he can't get in a very poor Cardiff team... he isn't good enough for us. I think he's off to Plymouth anyway. A hat-trick at Fratton Park would be nice...
Miltonaggro Posted 6 July, 2017 Posted 6 July, 2017 At 35 we could consider him in the coaching set up perhaps, and part time career development counsellor for wantaway senior players...
iansums Posted 6 July, 2017 Posted 6 July, 2017 As if we ever doubted it, Alpine demonstrates yet again his complete lack of understanding of football.
Matthew Le God Posted 6 July, 2017 Posted 6 July, 2017 Cant see he would ever let us down in the effort department. :mcinnes: Have you considered that a 35 year old player released by a bottom half Championship club, wouldn't be remotely good enough for a side that has finished in the top 8 of the Premier League 4 years in a row? Rickie Lambert is a Saints legend, but in 2017 he wouldn't get anywhere near the pitch with Gabbiadini, Austin, Long & Gallagher all ahead of him for a striker role. Lambert is being linked with newly promoted League 2 team Plymouth Argyle for a reason...! Alpine you are completely out of touch with football.
Micky Posted 6 July, 2017 Posted 6 July, 2017 Somebody's been sitting in the sun for too long. Sent from my SM-T580 using Tapatalk
Patrick Bateman Posted 6 July, 2017 Posted 6 July, 2017 I can't even imagine him being a good coach tbh. I love the guy, but our time with him has gone ... move on.

CB Fry Posted 6 July, 2017 Posted 6 July, 2017 Cant see he would ever let us down in the effort department. You moan about how sh it everything and how the club falls apart every summer. But your two point plan to rescue the club is > Appoint Gordon Strachan as manager > Re-sign Rickie Lambert Jesus wept.

Lighthouse Posted 6 July, 2017 Posted 6 July, 2017 You've got to hand it to alpine, people are still taking his posts seriously.
Saint Fan CaM Posted 6 July, 2017 Posted 6 July, 2017 It's fanciful thinking but you can't blame a man for wistfully looking back on a golden time for Saints - when will we see a hero like SRL again? Having said that, I suspect Mr A is on a big wind-up here.

Do you really think he was being serious, I am sue he beat plenty of others to,posting that.
VectisSaint Posted 6 July, 2017 Posted 6 July, 2017 You're a bit.... well, boring. Do you really think he was being serious, I am sue he beat plenty of others to,posting that. Graham Hiley posted similar on Twitter this afternoon. It was tongue in cheek, but some people on here have problems with things that are not factual or scientifically proven.
HKsaint Posted 6 July, 2017 Posted 6 July, 2017 There is a good reason. Lambert should come out every time when we have a penalty. We missed 3 penalties in a row. Lambert never missed a penalty in Saints.
saint1977 Posted 7 July, 2017 Posted 7 July, 2017 He's going to Plymouth. Hope so, when SFC aren't playing I'll look forward to going to Home Park from time to time and seeing him play.
Hatch Posted 7 July, 2017 Posted 7 July, 2017 He might make a better keeper that the current incumbent
Mowgli Posted 7 July, 2017 Posted 7 July, 2017 Cant see he would ever let us down in the effort department. Full marks for effort...
the saint in winchester Posted 7 July, 2017 Posted 7 July, 2017 Apparently Plymouth can't afford him ....so he may have to lower his wage demands or sit still until his Cardiff deal expires. Would love to see him back, but agree his time is gone.

Max Posted 7 July, 2017 Posted 7 July, 2017 Nor did Matt Le Tiss - perhaps we should wheel him out as well...! Forgot the one saved version Forest
Micky Posted 7 July, 2017 Posted 7 July, 2017 Forgot the one saved version Forest Exactly, saved, not missed. Pedantic perhaps - but true...!
Miltonaggro Posted 7 July, 2017 Posted 7 July, 2017 Exactly, saved, not missed. Pedantic perhaps - but true...! By Mark 'Norm' Crossley - an unlikely nemesis for MLT!
John Boy Saint Posted 7 July, 2017 Posted 7 July, 2017 By Mark 'Norm' Crossley - an unlikely nemesis for MLT! And he still dines out on that moment
The9 Posted 7 July, 2017 Posted 7 July, 2017 I'm fairly sure Lambert will be more interested in getting a year or two's contract somewhere in the bottom two divisions while he still has any value at all, rather than signing a pay as you play deal at Saints in order to crap all over his legacy and not earn a penny at the same time. His time has passed, and thanks to him for what he did when he was here and the money he made leaving when he did.
The9 Posted 7 July, 2017 Posted 7 July, 2017 He might make a better keeper that the current incumbent We have McCarthy covering that off if he can stay fit.
Charlie Wayman Posted 9 July, 2017 Posted 9 July, 2017 As if we ever doubted it, Alpine demonstrates yet again his complete lack of understanding of football. Ridiculous slur against the chap. He was voicing what many on here would like to see, SRL back here perhaps not as a player but in some sort of promotional or coaching role.

Of course he was, because that's what a "pay as you play" deal involves, isn't it? A non-playing role.

The clue is Pay As You Play.
