Thomas Tuchel - Ruled Out

Singapore Saint

Restating what we've read already, nothing new.

Vice-chairman Les Reed began searching for Puel’s successor even before the season had finished and is understood to be keen on making a swift appointment.

Really ?

The Monk rumours just won't go away and I would be disappointed with him and Beattie.

They will have a nerve to tell players to train super hard when those two, Kenton and One Size were the biggest party animals at our club.

LOL how long ago was that? I can't see the current players dragging up the escapades of Beatts and Kents in Yates's over a decade ago when asked to do a bit of keep-ball.

Well one the reasons sited for our poor season was player unhappiness maybe a few nights on the town with BT will cheer them all up and make them play better....

Where? He's going to Middlesbrough.

Monk

Silva

Wagner

One two time failure

One who got relegated

One who managed to win two play-off semi's and a final without scoring a goal when we our fans are moaning about dour football.

Frankly, if we'd seriously wanted any of those three, we would have them.

Yeh I thought that bit was funny, swift must mean a different thing to Les.

Tuchel would still be my preference and I think it looks reasonably realistic.

Not that I think Monk was ever on the short list but a contact at Leeds said he completely lost the dressing room and players said he was "unapproachable". His assistant was the real tactition and v well regarded by players and coaches (and he's staying on at Leeds)

Beattie?

Other than this French guy saying it will be him coming to Saints I've not seen anything espiecally from Germany to suggest this will happen.

IMHO Reed will pull a rabbit out of a hat just like he did with Pottychino.

That wasn't Reed, that was Nik-Nak.

He was spotted by our head of recruitment, Paul Mitchell, who'd been monitoring an Espanyol player and was impressed by the style of football Pochettino's team played. Most of our best players and managers were spotted by Mitchell. Since he left, we have been fairly rudderless in the transfer market. Les Reed is just a 'figurehead' and self publicist, who some posters on here seem to worship and credit for other people's work - people who have now either been fired by Reed or have left the Club of their own accord.

It was very likely Mitchell recommended Koeman too.

To be honest I think Schmidt would not have signed for China unless we had made a decision on our position.

I think either way we have decided on the replacement and are now negotiating the payoff with Puel and they would be announced together to ensure continuity of leadership and not leave a gap of managers for agents/players/otherclubs to try and exploit.

To be fair, my example above could also be Chris Packham :(

Southampton born and bred. Big game expert. Does his best work out in the field. Linked with Wolves, lions, tigers, seagulls, foxes, Eagles, wildebeest. Surprised his name hasn't cropped up before.

That, quite frankly, was superb:lol:

Thomas Tuchel shortened up in the betting with Paddy Power to 15/8 clear favourite. Hope there's some substance behind this!

The only substance to betting odds is the value of the bets placed. It does mean that more punters think Tuchel is worth risking a bet but that will be based on what they've seen reported, not because anyone is ITK. Could also be an element of wishful thinking by Saints' fans as most of us would be extremely impressed if Tuchel was appointed. Along with keeping Van Dijk, having an established top manager would indicate a step change. If this does come about, the Les Reed critics should take some overdue time off.
