David Bobin.

I see David Bobin has died, aged 71.

Although latterly of Sky, older members will know him from his days as a Meridian sports presenter.

Nice guy and one of the last of the Gentleman Broadcasters.

That's a real shame. Him and his wife was in the same maternity ward with my folks when I was born.

 

As a result always looked out for him on the TV.

Sad to read this as I'm one of the older ones Florida Martin refers to and recall David Bobin on Southern before later stations, TVS and then Meridian.

 

Late 70's, early 80's he was the voice that accompanied Saints coverage on the local ITV news.I seem to recall he was quite prominent in reporting the Keegan signing, and although covering all the clubs in our region seemed to have an affinity with Saints.

 

 

Only saw him on Sky once whilst at a friend's house, so remember him from his Southern days, in black and white.

 

Another voice from my childhood/teenage years gone.

 

RIP David, and thanks for conveying the Saints news long before we had the internet or 24 hour rolling coverage.
