Koolman Posted 23 May, 2017 Posted 23 May, 2017 Just heard on the news that Big Sam has quit Crystal Palace. NOT a contender to replace Puel if he goes I hope!
S-Clarke Posted 23 May, 2017 Posted 23 May, 2017 Wouldn't have thought so. He's retired anyway if his statement is to be believed.
Pamplemousse Posted 23 May, 2017 Posted 23 May, 2017 He couldn't be any further away from the 'Southampton Way'
Micky Posted 23 May, 2017 Posted 23 May, 2017 Why wouldn't he be a contender, look at the job he did at Palace compared to Silva at Hull. Lots on here would welcome Silva it would appear, why not Sam? Sent from my SM-T580 using Tapatalk
gphutchings Posted 23 May, 2017 Posted 23 May, 2017 Blimey,I would take him any day.He usually takes over when teams are struggling.Very forward thinking and the only team he was given free reign to take forward was Bolton.Gave them a solid foundation and then introduced players like Jay Jay Okocha/Djorkaev.He cuts his cloth accordingly.Would be great for us (not going to happen now though). Chris27687 Posted 23 May, 2017 Posted 23 May, 2017 Big Sam ha the easiest gig in football. Join a club in December, get paid £3 million, leave in May, repeat. Fair play to him.
Suhari Posted 23 May, 2017 Posted 23 May, 2017 (edited) Says he doesn't want another job. Edited 23 May, 2017 by Suhari
dogger Posted 23 May, 2017 Posted 23 May, 2017 Thats a shame he's retiring we might need his experience come next January after the fans destroy our next manager
Saint_Ash Posted 23 May, 2017 Posted 23 May, 2017 No matter how well he would do people wouldn't want him.
Badger Posted 24 May, 2017 Posted 24 May, 2017 Wouldn't have thought so. He's retired anyway if his statement is to be believed. Until he's bored at home in about late October when a relegation threatened team offer him a mega bounty to keep them up (just hope its not us). Remember Warnock going to Palace in 2007 saying it would be his last job in football !
Fitzhugh Fella Posted 24 May, 2017 Posted 24 May, 2017 Allardyce makes Harry Redknapp look positively whiter than white. No thanks!
rooney Posted 24 May, 2017 Posted 24 May, 2017 Allardyce makes Harry Redknapp look positively whiter than white. No thanks! Agreed
doddisalegend Posted 24 May, 2017 Posted 24 May, 2017 Allardyce makes Harry Redknapp look positively whiter than white. No thanks! Everyone says that until they are starring down the barrel of relegation.
Hamwic Posted 24 May, 2017 Posted 24 May, 2017 If not Big Sam then possibly someone of that ilk. A no nonsense manager who would not tolerate second-rate prima donnas spitting their dummies out when things don't suit them. Much is said about his hoofball style but I didn't see much of that at Palace; instead he obtained good performances from some rather average players. Also, Big Sam often comes with the services of Little Sam.

Saint Garrett Posted 24 May, 2017 Posted 24 May, 2017 Christ if he managed us I wouldn't go to St Marys until he's gone. Absolutely no chance of us bringing someone like that in. And although he says he's retiring, I'm pretty sure that if a club comes in for him next Nov/Dec who is in the sh!t he'll take the money!
Lighthouse Posted 24 May, 2017 Posted 24 May, 2017 Everyone says that until they are starring down the barrel of relegation. We aren't, so no thanks.
doddisalegend Posted 24 May, 2017 Posted 24 May, 2017 We aren't, so no thanks. if we where next Christmas though people wouldn't be so adverse...
Micky Posted 24 May, 2017 Posted 24 May, 2017 if we where next Christmas though people wouldn't be so adverse... I doubt many will want to answer that.
nathan Posted 24 May, 2017 Posted 24 May, 2017 Obviously don't know the accuracy, but I've heard a rumour it is due to a close family member/friend being hurt in the Manchester bombings. He's basically said he doesn't want the stress and life's too short.
Lighthouse Posted 24 May, 2017 Posted 24 May, 2017 if we where next Christmas though people wouldn't be so adverse... As poor as we've been this season, hilariously more than half the League was worse than us. Even if we do keep Puel and sell Virgil, I doubt we'll go down.
