Master Bates Posted 12 January, 2009 Posted 12 January, 2009 One of only four surviving British veterans of World War I has died at the age of 108. William Stone, from Watlington in Oxfordshire, was the last British serviceman to have seen active duty in both world wars. http://news.bbc.co.uk/1/hi/england/berkshire/7824999.stm RIP
St Landrew Posted 12 January, 2009 Posted 12 January, 2009 108 years. What changes that man has seen. I really hope he retained his belief that it was all worth fighting for. RIP.
BARCELONASAINT Posted 12 January, 2009 Posted 12 January, 2009 What that man must have seen in his 108 years. Outstanding to have reached such an age. Bet he wondered why he and his fellow comrades fought in 2 World wars for when he looked around and saw the sorry state this Country has plummeted too.
SaintSparky Posted 12 January, 2009 Posted 12 January, 2009 Glad that he was able to join in the very special tributes in London in November. Rest in Peace Bill Stone.
