#SaintsFC XI to play #Boro: Forster, Pied, Cáceres, Yoshida ©, Bertrand, Clasie, Romeu, Højbjerg, Boufal, Rodriguez, Long.

with Davis not playing deeper and no tadic, think we will do well with that side.

You can see him on Saints FB video getting off the coach.

Can see the point in resting him with such a packed end to the season but it'd have made much more sense to leave him down South.

At least we'll have some sort of answer to the Caceres question.

A team sh it enough to grab an unlikely win. I still like Clasie. 4-1.

Clasie was good against WBA

Hojberg will score today.

Boufal will play out of his skin.

Easy win

Agree with Tadic and Davis not playing but Jay Rod and Long up front will hardly cast fear in the opposition wirh their records this season.

Gabbi is surely injured otherwise I dont get it.

Don't think Stephens deserved to be dropped to accommodate Caceras - Yoshida has been poorer recently.

Curious to see what Pied brings.

Maybe he's seen the the better centre back to rest.

Gabbiadini needs to start every game. So frustrating but been that way since he arrived, 2 goals in a cup final and Puel drags him off, while Utd leave a 35 year old zlatan on to stroll around and score the winner. Why does Puel think footballers are so unfit? Guarantee none of them WANT to get dropped. Just interrupted everyone's form and continuity all season and meant we've got nowhere.

Caceres finally starts, not sure why now. If he does well he won't be here next season anywhere will he. Good to see Pied get a game but Cedric has been one of our better players. Midfield looks better with Clasie and Romeu but even less creative than usual. Then there's Long and Rodriguez. Maybe he thinks a game against a rubbish side will help them, but I'd be disappointed if either were still here next season. Neither have earned a place in that team.

Gabbiadini was clearly knackered - Puel was right to take him off and put fresher legs on. Especially with the prospect of ET.

JS and MC together would be frightfully short of Premier League experience. Together with Pied, that would be a back 4 badly short of cohesion.

The players on the bench says it all. Puel has some immense options if he chooses. Alas he'll prove everyone right and screw it all up.

Tadic, Manolo, Cedric. Them 3 not in squad wow.

Good to try the team without the future summer sales playing... Shows how we might fare next season without them.

Woeful team selection. Exactly what I have come to expect from the idiot Puel.

Why is it woeful? Middlesbrough didn't have a game in midweek, Saints did. Saints also have another game in 4 days time.

It appears many modern football fans aren't aware of recovery times of athletes and think they all recover instantly at the same rate as each other. :mcinnes:

We're winning this game, Gabbi needed a rest. I'd like to see Austin sooner rather than later, without Gabbi he is pretty much the only threat up front.

Keep Gabbiadini fresh for Man Utd

So he can run around chasing the United back 4 without another player within 60 yards....Anything he should play in games like today which we have a better chance of winning in and suit his style of play and play Long to do the headless chicken act against the big teams.

On that basis the one person who deserves a rest is Romeu!

Problem has been midfield not creating enough clear chances, I guarantee now with this line up we will create more but with long and jay up front they will miss loads knowing our luck, he just never seems to get the whole team right.

I think how we fare today will go a long way to deciding my verdict on Puel. It does seem strange to make so many changes for a game that we should be looking to win. If the players perform and we get a good result, maybe Puel knows what he's doing. Otherwise it raises too many questions in my book.

Fingers crossed!

Is this where we come to moan about the selection, tactics and individual players before a ball is kicked?

Or should we wait an see what happens

thats boring
