Boro v Saints Match Thread

That ranks right up there with 'the dog ate my homework Sir' :D

Haha. To be honest the game was probably going to be the secondary attraction to visiting friends up that way and having a couple of nights out.

Alas I am going. :(

It's got to the stage now I don't ever expect them to score even when it looks like they are in with a chance .

I have this zen like calm when Long is bearing down on the goal as I know and the keeper knows he is going to shoot and miss .

I wonder if Long and Rodrigez have a bet between them about how long they can go for without scoring

Long is now defying the laws of physics kicking a ball towards the goal randomly and it not on at least some ocassions going in

Bizarre

Team I reckon......Puel stressed about the need to rotate etc

Forster

Pied

Yoshida

Stephens

Bertrand

Rom

Hoj

Redmond

Boufal

JwP

Gabbiadini

I think I will cry if we see Tadic start again and Davis playing alongside Romeu

Yup, definite need to rotate for this match.

Austin on the bench would be welcome too.

I want to see more of Clasie. Haven't seen the best of him yet but brief moments suggest he could be very good. A few consecutive games would help, and some faith/inspiration from the manager/coaches. He ran games in the Dutch league and played internationally in a passing team. Just think he could have more to offer, it's in there somewhere.

We'll lose 2-0.

That said, with the season all but over, I'd like to see Clasie and Caceres start. I'd also like to see Long and J-Rod playing on the right and left instead of Redmond and Tadic. Why not? They've hardly been given any game time to prove themselves and neither Redmond or Tadic seem to have any end product.

Totally agree. Sadly, faith and inspiration are the two things that our current management team seem to be good at destroying. J-Rod scored 2 goal at Bournemouth and was dropped for the next game. Clasie had a great game at WBA and likewise was dropped the next week. I'd love to know how Puel's mind works. On second thoughts, maybe not.

Yep, I like this team, though I'd prefer to see Clasie start instead of JWP at first. Maybe even JRod for Redmond?

Hope Cedric doesn't get annoyed at being left out if this is the team.

Tadic instead of Sophie Anne please. Apart from that I'd agree, maybe give McQ a game.

FFS are we still on the rotation? I'm all for giving different players a chance because so many have been rubbish, but we haven't been playing that much in the last couple of months and they have a long break coming up.

So he'll probably drop Gabbiadini won't he, Redmond and JWP will start 1 each, maybe McQueen will come in for one. I'd like to see Sims start. Has he started besides his debut? Seen him as a sub a few times but whenever I see him he looks useful and for me he still played a big part in the best moment of the season.

We haven't scored in our last three games! So yes, there should be many changes IMO.

This is called Puel rotation, who played well will be dropped for next game, so that no one dare to play well.

No idea if we will get Jekyll or Hyde from us today.

On one hand they've been very poor under Agnew. On the other, I half expect Boro to play with freedom now they are down.

I look back to our results away to Hull & Palace when they were both on terrible runs.

Please win today, Saints.

Davis is the captain he won't get dropped I'd push him further up the pitch rather than playing him as a holding player and give Tadic a rest as he has been terrible recently.

This. He is excellent in this role for Northern Ireland because hes a more creative player than he is a defensive one. Tackling isnt one of his strengths

This is the game that decides whether we finish closer to 8th or 15th. We still have a great shot at 8th and apart from Leicester (who can potentially get 52 points to our potential 51) it's in our hands. (As it stands, if we win all 3 games (!) it's in our hands to finish 9th.)

We should be able to beat Boro, they can barely score goals and we have a host of better players. However we've hardly been setting the world alight recently in that department. Nevertheless I think today will be the day we step it up and pick up a win. Win today, and by my calculations based on other team's fixtures, the worst we can finish is 10th.

I know what your saying, but it's been like that a long time, I remember people thinking 1989/90 season was amazing when we finished 7th and 94/95 when we finished 10th (above Arsenal, think highest London clubs were QPR and Wimbledon )

So in our history an 8th place top flight finish still gets filed alongside our top 15 most successful seasons probably?

If you look at who the top 6 are, finishing in the top 8 four seasons in a row would be quite an achievement, whatever way you spin it.

It definitely is but this season the premier league is really poor...everyone below Everton has a negative goal difference...

West Brom haven't won for an age..that middle section is probably the worst set of teams I have seen finish around there...

Even the commentators are often talking about how poor games are this season.
