45 points

Chelsea (H) - 12/05

Man City (A) - 16/05

Swansea (A) - 21/05

Leicester City

43 points

Man City (A) - 13/05

Tottenham (H) - 18/05

Bournemouth (H) - 21/05

Southampton

42 points

Arsenal (H) - 10/05

West Ham United

Liverpool (H) - 14/05

Watford

Everton (A) - 12/05

Chelsea (A) - 15/05

Man City (H) - 21/05

---------------------------------

West Brom and Leicester above us have some nasty games. I can't see West Brom picking up anymore points in all honesty, especially if Swansea on the final day still need points to guarantee safety. Leicester are in good form but have some tough matches - against Bournemouth you'd expect them to win. I included Watford because mathematically they could reach 8th but looking at those fixtures, probably not!

Personally, I think two wins will be enough for us to claim 8th.

This is my prediction

Southampton - 48 points

Leicester - 46 points

West Brom - 45 points

Bournemouth - 45 points

West Ham - 43 points

Stoke - 41 points

Burnley - 41 points

Watford - 40 points

8th gets Europa League if Manu wins the Europa League.

Unfortunately not.

The Premier League gets an extra Champions League spot and one less Europa League spot in the case that someone outside the top four wins the Europa League.

Are you sure? Maybe we need a thread explaining the permutations?

Who gives a ****

I actually appreciated the layout and interesting to see others games are relatively tough. Isn't each position like £3million now or put another way £150 off the price of 20,000 season tickets? I dream on.

do we not get extra points for our 'net spend' efforts?

also, if we get 8th, will there be a party on the common or even a open top bus parade?

exciting times

The "race" lol with 4 wins in our last 16 feels more like a limp?

Anyway...... Be great to finish strongly, take some momentum into next season.

A win over one of the big 6 will also remove a dark cloud and allow us to start afresh next season.

With £2m more paid per extra league finish, finishing as high as possible would be v. good.

Think we get a minimum £100m this year regardless, but every little helps...

On those fixtures Puel will surely have massively under-achieved/lost the dressing room/over-rotated if we don't secure 8th?

Back on planet earth it will be massively disappointing if we finish below West Ham. (West Ham to beat L'pool and Burnley and us to pick up less than 6 points is worth a cheeky fiver of someone else's money).

This thread title sums up everything that's wrong with the Premier League.

Why?

As with any leagues in the home straight of matches there are many teams that have nothing to play for in regards to titles, European qualifications or relegation.

Perhaps having another European competition and say six relegation places there would be something to play for besides teams trying to get to the highest position possible for each set of league matches. Unfortunately that isn't the case so we are left with the latter.

Point taken, my response was a little obtuse and poorly-justified. What I meant was that we were only ever playing for 8th or at a stretch 7th this season (as were most of the teams in the league). This will be the case in virtually every season for the foreseeable future. Last season was a very rare exception.

Wow, I actually agree with Glasgow here.

He's being very positive lately, have you been visited by 3 ghosts me old mate?

Back to the post, well I think we should at least try and finish a bit stronger than we have lately, but it seems we may perhaps be on the proverbial beach already.

Someone should say that they wont get sold to Liverpool if they finish so poorly:lol:

The thread title was tongue in cheek, I was just trying to add some drama into the last remaining fixtures

But, it is important from a financial point of view to finish as high as possible. And 8th would also match where Pochettino ended up.

And that was mainly due to some of the big clubs arsing about. All the club can do is prepare a squad to be able to take advantage. This season has been difficult with European games, injuries to essential players but hopefully now the club understands what is necessary and can plan better for it for next time.

9th or 10th I reckon. The middle of the league this year has been ****ing garbage. The gap to the 'rest' is way too big, a lot of clubs will be trying to rectify that over the summer I'm sure. A clever transfer window by one of the 'middle pack' and they could potentially drive away from the rest.....
