Team fought hard in the second half against a pretty physical side.

Redmond's pace becoming more and more telling

Romeu such a stalwart, we'll miss him for the next 2 games

Tadic as brilliant as fustrating

Cedric and Sam, great shifts on both side

No faux pas from our gk and center backs... nice one guys

Longy... we feel for you mate.. keep on trying

Great win, gives us some breathing space and maybe some option to rotate a little bit, try out some formations, take a few risks (pls M. Puel)...

And relax.

Rodriguez before Long until Gabbi is back please.

Disagree, Long gets into far more dangerous positions and is much better in the air.

What we need to be doing is playing more to his strengths...instead of putting him through one on one where he's always struggled, get the ball wide and whip it in behind for him to head or tap in. Basically do what we did for the second and third goals as much as possible.

Impressed with our performance second half, there was a period where it looked for sure like a classic Southampton play-better-more-chances-still-lose kind of game when Palace had about four corners in a row, but surprisingly good attacks (the ones that didn't involve Shane). Good three points, much needed win, bring on WBA.

With Romeu suspended now for two games (WBA and City) will we see Stephens step up into DM and Caceres finally get a start? Hopefully Davis will be fine to play, and if Gabbi is back too then we might start making some serious progress... though who needs Gabbiadini when you have Ward-Prowse, Goal Machine?

Unfortunately not

I thought if UTD win the Europa league and finish in the top 7 an additional slot goes to the league for EL - giving us 5 CL teams and 3 EL teams? I.e 8th or a cup winner who isn't in the top 7 gets it.

Anyway good performance - looks like west broke are there for the catching.

Phew! By all accounts we were dreadful first half, but I only saw the second after not being to find any streams.

Certainly deserved to get a goal based on the performance, but I didn't think it was ever going to come. Profligacy at it's best!

Defenders know Redmond likes to cut back on his right, so to see him drive to the byline instead was fantastic, and is a dimension that's been missing from his game until recently.

Dusan Tadic take a bow. Puts Long through twice, first with great feet and a weighted pass and then with a sublime pass that I'm not sure anyone else could produce. He then sets up Davis with an inch perfect pull back, he started the move for the goal when he reads the ball out from the corner (Puncheon I think, runs in to clear and Tadic drops off to receive it), and then knocks on for Cedric to lay on the third goal. Plenty of other nice pieces too, but for people who wanted to take him off - who else is going to be that prolific in creating chances?!

Glad that JWP got a goal, but I do find him too slow at times. Everything is very deliberate, and when we break the move slows down when he gets it and we often have to start again. He is, at least, careful with possession and rarely see him sloppily giving it away. His pace is a killer but at least he is showing some determination.

Yoshida is a hero!

Was confident of the win beforehand but there were moments of doubt when we couldn't convert our undoubted superiority.

Thought the attacking 3 were excellent. Long's movement was fantastic, desperately unlucky not to get at least one. Tadic some superb through balls, redmond incisive running.

Defensively there were a few moments of jitters.

Hope davis' isn't injured & should silence the silly relegation talk again.

Great win against a Palace side who would have been brimming with confidence after their win at Chelsea. 4pts from the two home games is a very acceptable return. Get Gabbi back and we'll be even better. Shame Romeu will get a suspension now but it's up to someone else to step up to the plate - maybe Puel will consider trying Caceres in the holding midfield spot.

Was surprised at the scale of negativity on here after the 1st goal. It was a soft goal but I thought we were comfortably the better side all night, it was a good game and palace did ask some questions of us.

Fantastic grit and will to win in the 2nd half particularly, massive 3 goals from us tonight and big result.

Tadic was excellent and very unlucky not to get 2-3 assists. Redmond has been great last 3 months and showing why we bought him motm.

Ref was bad to say the least and Davo is extremely lucky not to have snapped his leg. That was accidental but dangerous play and a straight red.

Hopefully Barry will be back soon which will make a huge difference and we can push for 8th.

Great result, well deserved. When we finish chances we are a good side. Redmond superb...again. Excellent signing.

Cedric great in attack and JWP coming into his own with regular starts and the realisation he isn't physical enough to be a PL central midfielder.

Only shame was Romeu getting banned as we have such a weird set of CM options there isnt really a proper replacement for him which is a concern against a physical WBA and excellent City. Its a weakness for him, he puts in so many stupid fouls with no chance of getting the ball (see Bmth and the cup final).

So, we're still in a relegation battle then? ;)

Good win, deserved three points, top half finish here we come

Yeah right mate, the bed wetting going on before that game was fecking embarrassing!! Our fans are so quick to **** and moan and turn on the players these days. Poor really.

But delighted with the team, we've had a good season with the cup final and Europa, its about just enjoying watching the team atm, we play good football and the younger players are developing fast... yeah we're missing our two best players and had no striker for over half the season... but that has let the rest develop and claim their spots in the side... Next year is going to be great imho!! No europe and a great young squad coming together!

Just wish our fans could support the team, players and manager when they are playing good stuff and giving their all.... Its not their fault they have no VVD and no Gabbi ffs.

Exactly, all the stats show we are a good team, we've been incredibly unfortunate at times this season. And we're still in the top half.

After 44 mins we were 4 points off the bottom 3 and in 16th position. Can understand why a few were a bit stressed..... We should never have been in this mini mess

That was a huge 46 minutes of football.

I'll enjoy the win. Be good to have a little run of results now

We were comfortably the better side all night we played loads of very nice passing football with players finding space allover the pitch coupled with some decent tempo passing. Their goal was a bit of a black mark but other than it was saints all night long.

We created enough chance to win several games if Gabbi was playing it would have been carnage. You feel that Shane Long would struggle to score from two yards out with no one else in the pitch...

Just think how much money we have paid Long, Rodriguez and Austin since the season started. Obscene really given availability and performance!

I disagree, Long's finishing is awful but at least he pulls the opposition's defence around which creates space. J Rod is so blunt Bournemouth and Prague are examples. Hopefully the last game Gabi misses and we have him back at Hawthorns.

Much better second half - Yoshi's league goals are rare but always crucial, JWP has added goal threat and Redmond was one of few players to turn up both halves. Bit of luck with the woodwork and first goal but earned with pathetic handball bottle by the officials.

MP and Spurs helped us and looking rather healthier. Pamplemousse's 1% looks more realistic now. Palace looked dangerous but defensive injuries told, will be fine. W Ham v Swansea is a bit tasty now though...

That pass to Long was a poem.

He may be a whiner but he is right, he has to play 90 minutes if fit. You can't take off the man that can give you that spark that you need to break down a defense. A difference maker.

Oh, and Redmond is getting better every game.

One of the best games Tadic has turned in since the 8-0 Sunderland win - Gabbiadini would have had a field day with that delivery tonight. Redmond shone and is finishing the season as a genuine attacking threat. Romeu the other who played well. matching and then rampaging through the Palace mid-field. Table has a better look about it now!
