simo Posted 23 March, 2018 Posted 23 March, 2018 http://sportwitness.co.uk/southampton-star-says-hes-proposals-leave-club-wants-dream-cl-football/#saintsfc I'd let him go if a half decent offer comes in and get in someone who can cross a ball
Pilchards Posted 23 March, 2018 Posted 23 March, 2018 http://sportwitness.co.uk/southampton-star-says-hes-proposals-leave-club-wants-dream-cl-football/#saintsfc You’re not that good.
doddisalegend Posted 23 March, 2018 Posted 23 March, 2018 TBH with his performances this season I doubt that any of the big boys are that interested. I really like Cedric, his goal last weekend was really good but in the end there is no getting away from the fact he has been poor this season his crossing in particular has been awful.
S-Clarke Posted 23 March, 2018 Posted 23 March, 2018 He's always flattered to deceive. Never seen anything from him that suggests he's a CL level player. Decent for us, but not a top player by any means.
trousers Posted 23 March, 2018 Posted 23 March, 2018 http://sportwitness.co.uk/southampton-star-says-hes-proposals-leave-club-wants-dream-cl-football/#saintsfc "Being an experienced Portuguese international, many in Cedric’s home country believe he should be aiming higher than where he currently is, especially with Southampton finding themselves in a relegation battle this season." Maybe those "many in Cedric's home country" should ponder on why "Southampton find themselves in a relegation battle" if they've supposedly got Champions League quality players in their ranks....
Batman Posted 23 March, 2018 Posted 23 March, 2018 Cedric has been very average with the odd good game
Badger Posted 23 March, 2018 Posted 23 March, 2018 He’s playing at his level with Saints. I think you're right but not in his mind he isn't though. Hopefully a good WC for him before Les completes another summer sell off.
Pamplemousse Posted 23 March, 2018 Posted 23 March, 2018 I wouldn't shed any tears if he left. It's an area we need to upgrade in the summer for sure. If his agent can get him a 'dream team' then fair play.

What even higher than row Z that his crosses go into?
beatlesaint Posted 23 March, 2018 Posted 23 March, 2018 Maybe those "many in Cedric's home country" should ponder on why "Southampton find themselves in a relegation battle" if they've supposedly got Champions League quality players in their ranks.... Perhaps those “many” should also take a look at what happened with fellow countryman Jose Fonte as well !
GGalpin Posted 23 March, 2018 Posted 23 March, 2018 Decent enough player, but if he left I'm not too bothered providing it's a decent enough fee. Five assists and no goals in 77 league games for an attacking full back is pretty poor, to be honest.
Manuel Posted 23 March, 2018 Posted 23 March, 2018 He's so fast at getting back though. Watching him 1 on 1 defensively he gives me confidence. I like him, one of my favourite players atm. Don't know why he has had such problems with delivery but I still think he could come good there.
for_heaven's_Saint Posted 23 March, 2018 Posted 23 March, 2018 Nowhere near the quality Clyne was for us IMO.
Manuel Posted 23 March, 2018 Posted 23 March, 2018 Nowhere near the quality Clyne was for us IMO. Clyne and Puncheon were a super pairing on the right, a partnership I wish we'd stuck with for a bit longer if I'm honest.
Dark Munster Posted 23 March, 2018 Posted 23 March, 2018 Nowhere near the quality of crosses into the box as Cuco had for us IMO.
saintwbu Posted 23 March, 2018 Posted 23 March, 2018 Stands off his man allowing a cross way to often, almost a given he’ll lose any aerial challenge, and his end product is ****ing atrocious. Decent speed to recover, but that’s pretty much a given for a full back these days. If we can get good money for him i’d wish him well, for me Pied is better from the small glimpses i’ve seen, just not fit enough.
Saints foreva Posted 23 March, 2018 Posted 23 March, 2018 Cedric is one player I can't wait for us to get rid of in the summer. Fed up of his over hit crosses and row ZZ shots from 30 yards.
The Cat Posted 23 March, 2018 Posted 23 March, 2018 Some proper weird comments on this thread. He's clearly a very good player.
Kingsbridge Saint Posted 24 March, 2018 Posted 24 March, 2018 Decent player. Has suffered more than most under the defensive shackles of the woeful Puel and inept Pellegrino. Great to see him bombing on again in the Wigan game. Those two managers could make Barcelona crap.
Shance Posted 24 March, 2018 Posted 24 March, 2018 Cedric is a really good attacking full back. Some mentalist support our club.
for_heaven's_Saint Posted 24 March, 2018 Posted 24 March, 2018 Cedric is a really good attacking full back. Some mentalist support our club. His crossing is appalling! He's no doubt a decent Premier League full back and he is very quick, which gets him out of trouble at times, but he is often poor in an attacking sense.
Saint Fan CaM Posted 24 March, 2018 Posted 24 March, 2018 Some of the comments dissing Cedric are outrageous! Who do you think we are FFS? Cedric has some great attributes and Saints are pretty lucky to have an international of his calibre. The skill needed to control the ball and score last week was sublime. In fact I might like to see him in a more advanced role...probably better than Redmond.
niceandfriendly Posted 24 March, 2018 Posted 24 March, 2018 Cedric is a really good attacking full back. Some mentalist support our club. That might be the case, but he has been dreadful this season. You're the mentalist if you think he's had a good season, with respect.
Toadhall Saint Posted 24 March, 2018 Posted 24 March, 2018 Some proper weird comments on this thread. He's clearly a very good player. [emoji106]
Toadhall Saint Posted 24 March, 2018 Posted 24 March, 2018 That might be the case, but he has been dreadful this season. You're the mentalist if you think he's had a good season, with respect. I would not judge any player on this seasons form. Think about who was setting the tactics. The shackles were firmly put on by MP.
Dellman Posted 24 March, 2018 Posted 24 March, 2018 He will probably go in the summer and who can blame him? Then this forum will moan about Les selling him, just like Mane and Wanyama and Pele, criticise them and call them useless, until they are gone
SaintMB Posted 24 March, 2018 Posted 24 March, 2018 One of the key attributes of Cedric is that he clearly gives a damn.
SKD Posted 24 March, 2018 Posted 24 March, 2018 That might be the case, but he has been dreadful this season. You're the mentalist if you think he's had a good season, with respect. The same can be said about every single player in our squad. Cedric is a good player, up in the top 5 RB’s in the league, IMO.
Jack Posted 24 March, 2018 Posted 24 March, 2018 Not been as good this season as in previous seasons, but that goes for just about everyone that Pellegrino had anything to do with. Hoping for more out of him under a competent manager.
Batman Posted 24 March, 2018 Posted 24 March, 2018 The same can be said about every single player in our squad. Cedric is a good player, up in the top 5 RB’s in the league, IMO. Who are the the four above him in your view?
SKD Posted 24 March, 2018 Posted 24 March, 2018 Who are the the four above him in your view? Walker, tripper, Bellerín. Clyne (when’s he’s not sticking gear up his nose) and probably Azpilicueta (although he seems to be playing CB atm) are also better. There’s not much between Cedric, Valencia and Moses, although Moses is more of a winger.
saintwbu Posted 24 March, 2018 Posted 24 March, 2018 The same can be said about every single player in our squad. Cedric is a good player, up in the top 5 RB’s in the league, IMO. Walker, Trippier, Clyne, Bellerin, Azpilicueta, Coleman, Valencia all comfortably better than him. Moses, Fosu-Mensah, Alexander-Arnold all in with a good case. I’m never in the ‘he’s **** now that he wants to leave’ camp, but I just don’t think Cedric is very good.
SKD Posted 24 March, 2018 Posted 24 March, 2018 Walker, Trippier, Clyne, Bellerin, Azpilicueta, Coleman, Valencia all comfortably better than him. Moses, Fosu-Mensah, Alexander-Arnold all in with a good case. I’m never in the ‘he’s **** now that he wants to leave’ camp, but I just don’t think Cedric is very good. How many games has Coleman played since his leg was snapped in half? Serious questions.
saintwbu Posted 24 March, 2018 Posted 24 March, 2018 How many games has Coleman played since his leg was snapped in half? Serious questions. 2 or 3, does that mean he’s not in the top 5 RB’s in the league?
Batman Posted 24 March, 2018 Posted 24 March, 2018 2 or 3, does that mean he’s not in the top 5 RB’s in the league? Which is probably more than azpilliacueta has played at RB this season, and he was mentioned
Nordic Saint Posted 24 March, 2018 Posted 24 March, 2018 Walker, Trippier, Clyne, Bellerin, Azpilicueta, Coleman, Valencia all comfortably better than him. Moses, Fosu-Mensah, Alexander-Arnold all in with a good case. I’m never in the ‘he’s **** now that he wants to leave’ camp, but I just don’t think Cedric is very good. We were heavily linked with Trippier as one of our main transfer targets just before Paul Mitchell went to Spurs and then Trippier followed Alderweireld and Wanyama there.
Charlie Wayman Posted 24 March, 2018 Posted 24 March, 2018 He's no doubt a decent Premier League full back and he is very quick. He's employed as full back!!!!
Charlie Wayman Posted 24 March, 2018 Posted 24 March, 2018 That might be the case, but he has been dreadful this season. You're the mentalist if you think he's had a good season, with respect. For some reason you are always on Cedric's back? What did he ever do to you? Who the hell could we bring here or would want to come here who's anywhere near his quality.
saintwbu Posted 24 March, 2018 Posted 24 March, 2018 We were heavily linked with Trippier as one of our main transfer targets just before Paul Mitchell went to Spurs and then Trippier followed Alderweireld and Wanyama there. I rate him higher than Walker personally, his delivery is superb, he just isn’t quite as quick (still quick enough!).
for_heaven's_Saint Posted 24 March, 2018 Posted 24 March, 2018 He's employed as full back!!!! Is he? Cool thanks for letting me know My point is he could be better. And isn’t good going forward.
bpsaint Posted 24 March, 2018 Posted 24 March, 2018 He’s our Cedric, his crossing from the right wing is pathetic, he’s worse than I ever expected, and he’s sh1tter than Clyne...
Sergei Gotsmanov Posted 24 March, 2018 Posted 24 March, 2018 He’s our Cedric, his crossing from the right wing is pathetic, he’s worse than I ever expected, and he’s sh1tter than Clyne... He is a class act who handled the interest him in the summer with respect to the club in contrast to Van Dyke.
SKD Posted 24 March, 2018 Posted 24 March, 2018 2 or 3, does that mean he’s not in the top 5 RB’s in the league? Well after such an awful injury, there is no guarantee how he will recover... id hold judgement on Coleman. A couple of years ago, yes, he was better.
Dark Munster Posted 24 March, 2018 Posted 24 March, 2018 Decent player. Has suffered more than most under the defensive shackles of the woeful Puel and inept Pellegrino. Great to see him bombing on again in the Wigan game. Those two managers could make Barcelona crap.
SuperSAINT Posted 20 May, 2018 Posted 20 May, 2018 (edited) With the recent Telegraph article saying that Cedric (& Bertrand) might be allowed to move if we get a big enough offer for him, I was curious what people think he's worth? Is Pereira @ £25m a good benchmark? Edited 20 May, 2018 by SuperSAINT
