Just seen that it's Kevin Davies birthday, and the club are showing his goal v Everton away. But which was the better goal, that one or Chris Marsden v Ipswich?

Technically Davies, but CMFG's just had that extra element of wonder enjoyment and WT****ery about it

Eloquently put.

Marsden's was more funny and unlikely than actually skillful, apart from the first move he basically just runs in a fairly straight line and then side foots it in, the defending is terrible. Davies took the ball a long way and beat players and skipped tackles with a bit of skill.

I still laugh when I see Marsden's goal. He almost forgot to put the ball in the net after doing an impeccable straight-line run! I went to Portman Road the season before when we got beat, would have been amazing to have been there to witness that goal a year later...

Davies' goal was really good. If you watch the video, I also like the fact the Everton players steadfastly refused to listen to the lad shouting "Ger'old of him then! Ger'old of him!". If only they had...

Marsden for me, only because it was so unlikely and unnatural for the type of player he was! Davies would have at least had the license to try runs like that in training etc. being a striker.

Surprised no one has posted these for the benefit of the debate.

I think if you let the Marsden one run through on You Tube auto pilot you get Mattys Hollywood Fairy Tale goal v Arsenal just to get you in the mood for this evening
