Does anyone have an updated list of other internationals? Saints have had so many recently.

Why have you listed Portsmouth's? Try not to obsess over them too much, they are three divisions below us. It lends them so much more credibility than they actually have to act like we still need to get one over on them. The biggest insult you can give them, if that's your thing, is to treat them as being as irrelevant to us as they currently are.

If you start comparing it to other clubs, 36 is good, but West Ham will have more. I daresay West Brom have more.

Interesting that you mention West Brom.

No idea what their total is but I am sure I heard the commentator say that Jake Livermore was the first English International provided by WBA since the 1990's

The interesting thing about that list is that 9 (or 25%) of our England internationals have been capped since we came back up 5 years ago, and of those only 1 (Fraser) was already in the England squad when he signed/broke into the first team. I think that's quite a good indication of our recent relative success (and possibly the weakness of the national team).

Also in checking Wiki to see whether Ryan Bertrand had been around the England set up when we signed him I found this: -

'On 10 August 2012, Bertrand was called up to the senior England team for the first time, for a friendly match against Italy.[47] He made his international debut coming on for Leighton Baines in the 78th minute and cleared a shot off the line minutes later from Manolo Gabbiadini which eventually led to England's winning goal as England won the game 2–1.'

Turns out Ryan and Manolo made their international debuts in the same game.

WBA 43, West Ham 40. One more will take us level with Newcastle and Nottm Forest. But we have less than half of Spurs (75) and Villa (73).

On the following site we are shown as only having 35 capped players:

http://englandstats.com

The missing player being C B Fry (the real one), they have him associated with Corinthians. Looks like the OP was using a different site as he listed Charlie Fry as well.

Only one poster has posted that amount in that thread... Lord Trousers...

But, of course, most of us over that period have only ever had the one account...

Which would have made Gabbi about what? Twenty? The Club has picked up two smart ones at a great price given the intervening 5 years or so.

Yes, I'm for real. I think including Portsmouth in this builds up their relevance rather than leaves it in the past where it belongs. It looks insecure, like comparing yourself constantly to your girlfriend's ex, even though she dumped him years ago.

Thanks for the link, Vectis. For those of us interested in football stats, it is an interesting list. As someone who started watching Saints when Terry Paine was our first England player for many years, I am really impressed that we have overtaken some of the traditional big clubs of the past in terms of the number of our players who've been capped by England. We're ahead of Leeds, for example, and not far behind Chelsea. That is one sign of our progress over the last 50 years. I've picked out the ones that are of interest to me, Norway, because I can ;)
