Saint-Beer Posted 12 February, 2017 Share Posted 12 February, 2017 Think I prefer Boufal as a no. 10 but Boufal is a bit more flexible with his positions. After Tadic days this is his favoured position and his performance yesterday what do we think? Sent from my SM-J500FN using Tapatalk

SaintBobby Posted 12 February, 2017 Share Posted 12 February, 2017 Big fan of Tadic, but I'm not yet persuaded he is our best no.10. Mainly because I don't trust him to finish chances from 6-10 yards out, so the central position is a bit wasted on him. I'd keep him on the left. verlaine1979 Posted 12 February, 2017 Share Posted 12 February, 2017 Boufal seems the better finisher, so would start him centrally with Tadic on the left, but no harm in letting them switch positions as the spirit moves them.

Saint-Fred Posted 12 February, 2017 Share Posted 12 February, 2017 Do we play with a number 10? If we did I would have Tadic as IMO he is one of the best creators in the league.

We don't -and frankly Tadic has struggled whenever he's played in a more central position. Don't know why but he's always been more dangerous coming off the wing. No though Tadic seemed more central from the highlights I saw yesterday so I don't know if we changed formation or if Tadic was just moving there under his own violation. I still think we'd get more out of Boufal if we did play with a 10. Not sure about Tadic as shurlock says he generally seems to do his best work out wide. Pilchards Posted 12 February, 2017 Share Posted 12 February, 2017 When Tadic is on form he is unplayable, very much like Hazard for Chelsea except that guy does it most weeks while Tadic can be **** too often. Boufal to come on after 60 minutes replacing whoever that's not doing the business on the pitch. IMHO When JWP and Tadic are playing well the whole team click. Tadic played as a 10 with the option of drifting out to either wing, Ward-Prowse and Redmond started wide then drifted into the 10 spot when Tatic drifted out of a central role. We tucked into a 4-4-1-1 to defend. To me it looked much more effective than the 4-3-3 than we've been stuck in for ages.
simo Posted 12 February, 2017 Share Posted 12 February, 2017 In an ideal world the 3 of Jwp (or Redmond), Tadic and Boufal in behind the striker should be fluid and swap places as the space and need arises!
SuperSAINT Posted 12 February, 2017 Share Posted 12 February, 2017 Have them interchange... Boufal offers f*ck defensive cover to his fullback though.

I'd argue he's growing into that role quite well unlike Gaston he's not afraid to put his foot in and help out !

Yesterday he may have played as a no.10; but to this point, we haven't really played with a no.10 (as you acknowledge). Too early to say whether this is anything but a one-off, let alone whether Tadic is suited to this role given he's disappointed in it before. Lord Duckhunter Posted 12 February, 2017 Share Posted 12 February, 2017 Jose won't give Tadic the space Sunderland did. When space is at a premium he's better coming off the wing IMO Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk

Dusic Posted 12 February, 2017 Share Posted 12 February, 2017 Puel said after the game yesterday that Tadic's best position he feels is central as he was yesterday and that he would continue there. Feels he can be restricted by the touchline reducing his options on the ball. Tadic also said he likes playing there and in a 4-2-3-1 feels it is his best position and where he plays for Serbia. Tadic also said he thinks this 4-2-3-1 suits us best and gives more forward options than the 4-3-3 and 4-4-2 diamond. Well worth a listen: http://bbc.in/2lAx7d2 Claude at the start then Tadic 2nd half.
Saint_clark Posted 12 February, 2017 Share Posted 12 February, 2017 I think Tadic is effective anywhere in the 3 behind the striker, it's just his inconsistency that lets him down. Give him a run of starts and hopefully he'll do better.

I'm just hoping that he's the type of player who will shine in a big game like a final . His performance against Man c last season was sublime, hopefully he'll repeat against Utd Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk

doddisalegend Posted 12 February, 2017 Share Posted 12 February, 2017 How do you explain yesterday which was his best performance of the season...from the middle? Well TBF and not trying to take anything away from Tadic, who played really well, but he had a ridiculous amount of time and space yesterday. There is a bit of the O/S highlights were literally everyone is playing at walking pass and Tadic is strolling forward with ball and takes a shot totally unchallenged by a single Sunderland player his best performance has to be taken in context of how poor the opposition where after the first 20 minutes. beatlesaint Posted 12 February, 2017 Share Posted 12 February, 2017 When Tadic is on his game he is brilliant. Boufal looks the same to me. Trouble with both of them will continue to be consistency and for that reason whoever is in form should get the shirt. If they are crap swap them over. Rotate in other words

ADutchSaint Posted 12 February, 2017 Share Posted 12 February, 2017 Neither, both really dont have the qualities to be a reliable 10. I would put them on the wings and give them freedom to roam around.
Saintsteve7 Posted 12 February, 2017 Share Posted 12 February, 2017 Real quality number 10's are very difficult to come by, Lampard will go down as one of the best we've ever seen due to his goals but people forget his work rate and amount of tackles/interceptions per game. You won't get the same from converted wingers in my humble opinion!
Barry the Badger Posted 12 February, 2017 Share Posted 12 February, 2017 He certainly seemed to be enjoying Gabbiadini's movement. For an attacking midfielder the difference between appearing to have a good game and a **** one can be the movement of the bloke you're trying to link up with. Saintsteve7 Posted 12 February, 2017 Share Posted 12 February, 2017 Which kind of answers the question really, we don't play with a 10, Davis is our number 8 but his goal scoring record is woeful.

Boufal is IMO absolutely wasted out wide with his ability on the ball you need him on the ball making something happen as much as possible which just doesn't happen when he is stuck out wide.
