kitch Posted 30 January, 2017 Posted 30 January, 2017 Anyone surprised we haven't been in for him? Another player in the Lambert-esque mould, as far as I can see. He also bleeds red & white, which is a bonus. Doesn't seem to start every game at Burnley, but is that just because Gray is doing well? Just thought he'd be a useful squad member, and he's capable of getting goals. I know he's not young, but that didn't stop the club improving Fonte, Lambert et al. Thoughts? Should I put the beer down?
Colinjb Posted 30 January, 2017 Posted 30 January, 2017 I like him, think he would be a good squad option but not first choice. Based on how we are, I think we should be focusing on directly improving our first team with players that fit our model rather then adding depth for depth's sake. P.s. Drinking at 9.30am?
rickylambert Posted 30 January, 2017 Posted 30 January, 2017 He was in the Saints end on Wednesday: http://www.skysports.com/football/news/11095/10743225/watch-southampton-fans-joined-by-sam-vokes-in-celebrating-liverpool-win
bpsaint Posted 30 January, 2017 Posted 30 January, 2017 Don't think he would offer more than Sam Gallagher potentially would tbh.

Metaphorical beer. Main advantage - no hangover See what you're saying. It probably wouldn't fix anything with our current plight, but having more competition for starting spots might cause current players to up their game. That was my logic, and that is why I'm not involved in football
kitch Posted 30 January, 2017 Author Posted 30 January, 2017 Don't think he would offer more than Sam Gallagher potentially would tbh. Ah yes, fair point. Similar type of player, forgot he's yet to come back.
benjii Posted 30 January, 2017 Posted 30 January, 2017 Goodness me, no. There is no point signing a striker who is not as good as the ones we already have.
nta786 Posted 30 January, 2017 Posted 30 January, 2017 P.s. Drinking at 9.30am? A pint always washes down well with the Spoons Breakfast!!!!
Lighthouse Posted 30 January, 2017 Posted 30 January, 2017 Wouldn't be a transfer window without somebody suggesting we should sign Vokes.
