Wimborne_saint Posted 28 January, 2017 Posted 28 January, 2017 Isgrove starts according to the mirror "Isgrove to start for Saints against Arsenal despite Bristol City bid Wales winger Lloyd Isgrove is starting for Southampton tonight - even though he is subject of a bid from Bristol City. Saints boss Claude Puel is clearly making changes for the Arsenal tie and there is a first team chance for Isgrove. Isgrove, 24, has also played in their EFL Cup run to Wembley but has seen his chances limited in the Premier League and his contract expires in the summer. Barnsley tried to sign him in the summer after a successful loan spell and there is strong interest in him again in this window. Wigan, Ipswich and Brentford are all watching developments as Isgrove wants more regular football."
Dark Munster Posted 28 January, 2017 Posted 28 January, 2017 Arsenal have a pretty big list of injuries and suspensions to. I read they only have two fit senior central midfielders, given the games they have coming up, they may rest them and play the kids in the middle which might give us a good chance. I hope so, but according to physioroom they only have one injury (Cazola). Obviously would love to win this and go on another cup run, having won 3 games in a row without conceding would help keep up our momentum. However if we do lose take consolation in the fact the next round is the week before the league cup final. It's quite possible we'll have a week off whereas United will play a 5th round game followed by a Europa league game on the Thursday before our final. Thanks, that'll be the silver lining if we lose. Reckon Chelsea will win the cup this year. Best team in the league, coasting at the top, and no European matches to contend with so will take it seriously.
Badger Posted 28 January, 2017 Posted 28 January, 2017 As we've taken the EFL Cup seriously, even whilst in Europe, it would be a disappointment to treat the FA Cup less seriously and put out a weakened team here.
Toadhall Saint Posted 28 January, 2017 Posted 28 January, 2017 As we've taken the EFL Cup seriously, even whilst in Europe, it would be a disappointment to treat the FA Cup less seriously and put out a weakened team here. Not much choice with the injury list we have
Shance Posted 28 January, 2017 Posted 28 January, 2017 Boufal on the bench would be quality but i'm pretty sure he can't play whilst his national side are still in the afcon.
Toadhall Saint Posted 28 January, 2017 Posted 28 January, 2017 Isgrove - really??!! Good little player - runs the channels well - cometh the hour etc etc
stevy777_x Posted 28 January, 2017 Posted 28 January, 2017 Boufal on the bench would be quality but i'm pretty sure he can't play whilst his national side are still in the afcon. Who said?
saint77 Posted 28 January, 2017 Posted 28 January, 2017 Good little player - runs the channels well - cometh the hour etc etc At 24 yrs old not good enough
Shance Posted 28 January, 2017 Posted 28 January, 2017 Who said? Pretty sure that's the rule set by FIFA.
Pamplemousse Posted 28 January, 2017 Posted 28 January, 2017 That would only be the case if had been called up but refused to play. He was called up, then got injured and they subsequently released him back to us.
Shance Posted 28 January, 2017 Posted 28 January, 2017 That would only be the case if had been called up but refused to play. He was called up, then got injured and they subsequently released him back to us. Ok, nice one. Wasn't sure on the ins and outs of it.
Toadhall Saint Posted 28 January, 2017 Posted 28 January, 2017 At 24 yrs old not good enough Quite possibly but it's a good chance for him
Wimborne_saint Posted 28 January, 2017 Posted 28 January, 2017 Arsenal starting XI: Ospina; Bellerín, Mustafi, Holding, Gibbs; Chamberlain, Maitland-Niles; Walcott, Reine-Adelaide, Perez; Welbeck
Wimborne_saint Posted 28 January, 2017 Posted 28 January, 2017 Lewis, Martina, Gardos, Stephens, McQueen, Reed, Clasie, Hojbjerg, Sims, Isgrove, Long Subs: Taylor, Yoshida, Bertrand, Davis, Romeu, Tadic, Redmond Wow that's terrible
doddisalegend Posted 28 January, 2017 Posted 28 January, 2017 Lewis, Martina, Gardos, Stephens, McQueen, Reed, Clasie, Hojbjerg, Sims, Isgrove, Long Subs: Taylor, Yoshida, Bertrand, Davis, Romeu, Tadic, Redmond Wow that's terrible Jesus I know we have injuries but that team is err... yeah....err
bazza Posted 28 January, 2017 Posted 28 January, 2017 Double checked our tickets before leaving the house that it's definitely Season Ticket uploads & not 'Print at Home' ones today. I hadn't actually ordered the bloody tickets! Epic fail.
Pamplemousse Posted 28 January, 2017 Posted 28 January, 2017 Great opportunity for these young lads to get further match experience against a very good team. The game at Swansea is infinitely more important and therefore resting key players is the correct thing to do.
saintwbu Posted 28 January, 2017 Posted 28 January, 2017 Nothing to worry about in that Arsenal line up really, and ours is weakened obviously but we have a lot of injuries and all but Isgrove, Garcia and Lewis have played regularly this season for us so i'm happy with it.
benjii Posted 28 January, 2017 Posted 28 January, 2017 Saw the Arsenal team and got enthused. Then saw our team......
Wimborne_saint Posted 28 January, 2017 Posted 28 January, 2017 Clasie or Long captain I presume? Long is captain
simo Posted 28 January, 2017 Posted 28 January, 2017 Long is captain Good reward for Wednesday be good to see if it inspires him and if he can inspire the team !
Shance Posted 28 January, 2017 Posted 28 January, 2017 Saw the Arsenal team and got enthused. Then saw our team...... I did exactly the same.
doddisalegend Posted 28 January, 2017 Posted 28 January, 2017 Great opportunity for these young lads to get further match experience against a very good team. The game at Swansea is infinitely more important and therefore resting key players is the correct thing to do. Is it? I'd rather have two cup finals than finish 7th in the league.
Katalinic Posted 28 January, 2017 Posted 28 January, 2017 Great opportunity for these young lads to get further match experience against a very good team. The game at Swansea is infinitely more important and therefore resting key players is the correct thing to do. Why is it more important? We aren't going to qualify for Europe or go down.
Bad Wolf Posted 28 January, 2017 Posted 28 January, 2017 Lol what a **** team that is. Gardos marking Walcott, that's going to be fun ffs.
View From The Top Posted 28 January, 2017 Posted 28 January, 2017 No real shocks in the team selection after Wednesday and a game again on Tuesday.
shurlock Posted 28 January, 2017 Posted 28 January, 2017 Bit early for Puel to cash in some of the goodwill earned from Weds?
Pamplemousse Posted 28 January, 2017 Posted 28 January, 2017 Why is it more important? We aren't going to qualify for Europe or go down. The league is more important financially. The higher we finish, the more money we get.
CB Fry Posted 28 January, 2017 Posted 28 January, 2017 Lewis, Martina, Gardos, Stephens, McQueen, Reed, Clasie, Hojbjerg, Sims, Isgrove, Long Subs: Taylor, Yoshida, Bertrand, Davis, Romeu, Tadic, Redmond Wow that's terrible **logs off Kodi***
doddisalegend Posted 28 January, 2017 Posted 28 January, 2017 No real shocks in the team selection after Wednesday and a game again on Tuesday. Personally I'd rather have rested players on Tuesday which in the context of the season is a nothing game.
ArgentinianSaint Posted 28 January, 2017 Posted 28 January, 2017 Great opportunity for these young lads to get further match experience against a very good team. The game at Swansea is infinitely more important and therefore resting key players is the correct thing to do. Dont completely agree, i think this match is more important, though it is true that players like Isgrove Reed and Lewis should have the chance to show themselves. Lets see, Arsenal is not going with the best either, but thats why I would have played with our best.
trousers Posted 28 January, 2017 Posted 28 January, 2017 Happy with that team. Just glad we're playing Arsenal rather than Wycombe
Suhari Posted 28 January, 2017 Posted 28 January, 2017 Not sure that team has interesting possibilities. Will be possibly interesting to watch though.
doddisalegend Posted 28 January, 2017 Posted 28 January, 2017 The league is more important financially. The higher we finish, the more money we get. yeah errr don't really care about that.....
Dark Munster Posted 28 January, 2017 Posted 28 January, 2017 Is it? I'd rather have two cup finals than finish 7th in the league. Absolutely. And we won't finish 7th even if we try. Should've put our best out today, and play the kids against Swansea.
philelec Posted 28 January, 2017 Posted 28 January, 2017 The league is more important financially. The higher we finish, the more money we get. This!
