Bad Wolf Posted 24 January, 2017 Posted 24 January, 2017 Brilliant news!!! Was getting a bit wary about his contract situation. Delighted with this.
S-Clarke Posted 24 January, 2017 Posted 24 January, 2017 Ah that's good news, bit of a late Christmas present for us all!
Manuel Posted 24 January, 2017 Posted 24 January, 2017 Worrying that he couldn't commit to the usual 5 years . Very good news, getting better and better and often motm.
Saint Albert Posted 24 January, 2017 Posted 24 January, 2017 Bloody fantastic news. He's become such an important player this year. Well done Saints and Romeu.
a1ex2001 Posted 24 January, 2017 Posted 24 January, 2017 Now that is a result loosing him would have been rubbish as he really seems to have kicked on this year.
Bad Wolf Posted 24 January, 2017 Posted 24 January, 2017 Now that is a result loosing him would have been rubbish as he really seems to have kicked on this year. He looked great last year too but didn't get a look in.
Heisenberg Posted 24 January, 2017 Posted 24 January, 2017 He could genuinely be a stayer, decent very decent but not quite top 6 decent. Could realistic see him stay here for lengh of the contract, but I said same about Fonte so who knows. Great news though COYR
DT Posted 24 January, 2017 Posted 24 January, 2017 very good news. really like him as a player and a person (on the face of it)
Saint_clark Posted 24 January, 2017 Posted 24 January, 2017 That is utterly fantastic news. Was getting worried that he was going to do a Clyne, but nice to see him committing. Honestly think we have better chances of keeping the "cast offs" from bigger teams like Bertrand and Romeu as they've already got their fingers burnt with the big club bias towards huge name signings.
Harry Faz Posted 24 January, 2017 Posted 24 January, 2017 Excellent - he has got better and better this season, we have no -one else who can do the job he does. I know it doesn't mean he will stay to the end of the contract , but it is a vote of confidence in where we are going as a club - as he isnt doing the Clyne / Wanyama tactic of running the contract down .
Dusic Posted 24 January, 2017 Posted 24 January, 2017 Great news, good player and seems like a really good guy too.
SNSUN Posted 24 January, 2017 Posted 24 January, 2017 Good news! I still think we're a defensive midfielder light in terms of squad depth, unless Reed proves himself soon, but keeping Romeu (who has improved massively this season) is huge. By plucking unwanted players from Chelsea, we've come up trumps with Romeu and Bertrand. Maybe a decent transfer policy for the future - as neither were expensive. With the top 6 starting to power away with the league, I reckon some decent squad players can be had from them for reasonable sums of money.
JakkoUK Posted 24 January, 2017 Posted 24 January, 2017 Great news, fantastic player with only more room to get even better. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk

This is terrific news, and comes in a week when Reed has received a lot of justifiable criticism for not replacing key players given he new they were leaving, from Mane, Pele to Fonte. January is running out of days Les Romeu has been a key success story for us this season. And but for our sturdy defence we would be in a dire situation now.
Whitey Grandad Posted 24 January, 2017 Posted 24 January, 2017 Good news. He gets better the more he plays.
SuperSAINT Posted 24 January, 2017 Posted 24 January, 2017 AMAZING!!!! I can finally stop bumping that other Romeu thread now Well done Les!
Plumstead_Saint Posted 24 January, 2017 Posted 24 January, 2017 Excellent news great player and character who is vital to our success.
Pass the Dutchie Posted 24 January, 2017 Posted 24 January, 2017 I'm pleasantly surprised. Very good news!
davefizzy14 Posted 24 January, 2017 Posted 24 January, 2017 Brilliant news, Romeu is such a class player & key to our success! COYR
shurlock Posted 24 January, 2017 Posted 24 January, 2017 Very good news. He's not as good as is sometimes made out -mobility and positioning are question marks; nonetheless he's been one of our most consistent performers.
SaintSeb Posted 24 January, 2017 Posted 24 January, 2017 Very good news. He's not as good as is sometimes made out -mobility and positioning are question marks; nonetheless he's been one of our most consistent performers. Mobility I'd agree with, but positioning has been very good in my opinion!
bazza Posted 24 January, 2017 Posted 24 January, 2017 As everyone's said it's great news, he's been excellent this season.
shurlock Posted 24 January, 2017 Posted 24 January, 2017 (edited) Mobility I'd agree with, but positioning has been very good in my opinion! I agree in terms of his reading of the game, especially when the play is front of us; on the other hand, he can struggle when we're on the backfoot and he's required to track runners etc. Again that might have something to do with his mobility. Greenridge Posted 24 January, 2017 Posted 24 January, 2017 We need to renew yoshida now... Words I never thought I would read in this forum. Game time has really helped him this year to find some consistency in his performances. All of a sudden he's become a key figure with departures and injuries. How long does his current contract have left to run?
Chris27687 Posted 24 January, 2017 Posted 24 January, 2017 Good news - been immense this season. The usual bunch where slagging off Les/Oriol for him being Wanyama's replacement and not spending £30m on a replacement last summer. A fair few have already posted!
musesaint Posted 24 January, 2017 Posted 24 January, 2017 Excellent news! Great player Mind you, that'll add another £10m to his value when the club sells him in the summer Well played by the club as well. I almost forgot that Twa t Vardy has put VD out of tomorrow's game!
saintsmike25 Posted 25 January, 2017 Posted 25 January, 2017 You have to remember Man Utd, Chelsea and to some degree Man City have let gems go because they're not deemed good enough, here's a few for starters De Bruyne, Pogba, Pique. It's always worth casting an eye on the players they don't feel up to the grade as some are world class.
sadoldgit Posted 25 January, 2017 Posted 25 January, 2017 Another bit of excellent news concerning a contract extension and no posts from the Usual Suspects? I guess this doesn't fit in with the anti Reed, Puel, club management agenda.
Charlie Wayman Posted 25 January, 2017 Posted 25 January, 2017 Best news in a long, long time. There is something very special about this guy and it is wonderful that he loves it here and wants to stay. Hopefully his commitment will inspire others to stay rather than seek their fortunes elsewhere.
Charlie Wayman Posted 25 January, 2017 Posted 25 January, 2017 We need to renew yoshida now... Don't worry Maya is a one club man through and through, just watch his interview of a couple of days ago. Accepts he is one of the 'elders' of our tribe with all the responsibilities that go with it. Has a decent sense of humour too. Guys like him would play without a contract!
Fatboy40 Posted 25 January, 2017 Posted 25 January, 2017 Very happy, he seems like a genuinely nice guy, just wish he'd update his YouTube channel
dronskisaint Posted 25 January, 2017 Posted 25 January, 2017 Great news, great player - majorly stepped up this season and really drives us hard. Good leader on the pitch too..doesn't let anyone take a breather!
Pass the Dutchie Posted 25 January, 2017 Posted 25 January, 2017 He was a rockstar again tonight, in the positive sense.
