Saint Garrett Posted 22 January, 2017 Posted 22 January, 2017 Same starting XI as today, huge game. Everyone who can needs to get a ticket and get up there! 90 mins from Wembley. COYS!!!!
ericb Posted 22 January, 2017 Posted 22 January, 2017 Mixture of excitement and bricking it about this game, so nervous and the head says we're going to lose it, but just can't get around the thought that we're 90mins away from a major final.
nta786 Posted 22 January, 2017 Posted 22 January, 2017 #PrayForVVD I've convinced my boss to give me time off work- driving up from Kent missing Thursday and half of Wednesday. Thankfully I have my cousin in Liverpool where I can stay and I think I'll cook myself some food beforehand to save some money too. Saints please do me some good and make this worthwhile!!!
Pamplemousse Posted 22 January, 2017 Posted 22 January, 2017 Massive opportunity to get to a final. Let's hope the lads take it
BARCELONASAINT Posted 22 January, 2017 Posted 22 January, 2017 I honestly think so much depends on VVD being able to play
sammysaint Posted 22 January, 2017 Posted 22 January, 2017 If VVD plays I fancy us to get the draw or win to see us through, S.Davis hopefully will be fit as well. They have scored 3 goals in 4 games, so hopefully they still have a poor scoring run still and if we can keep it tight for 20-25 the scousers will start getting frustrated. However if Davis and VVD are missing I think we lose 2-0 or 3-1.
beatlesaint Posted 22 January, 2017 Posted 22 January, 2017 If VVD isn't fit then Les's lie about a replacement coming in before Fonte being allowed to leave will bite us on the ass big time. Absolute cock up from the board that could potentially cost us our best chance of a Wembley final for years.
Manuel Posted 22 January, 2017 Posted 22 January, 2017 If we get a goal they will need three. Would play the same team as today except Clasie in for Hojbjerg.
sfc4prem Posted 22 January, 2017 Posted 22 January, 2017 I like the fact we're nervous about being close to Wembley rather than relegation etc. We've come a long way since 2009. Do it for everyone that's been a part of the journey so far, lads. 2-1 saints, Yoshida header to win it.
The Cat Posted 22 January, 2017 Posted 22 January, 2017 2-1 saints, Yoshida header to win it. I'm hoping it will be a last minute Lovren own goal.
saint77 Posted 22 January, 2017 Posted 22 January, 2017 If VVD isn't fit then Les's lie about a replacement coming in before Fonte being allowed to leave will bite us on the ass big time. Thinking just that myself more lies from liar les Have you considered their intention might be to get Sakho and Liverpool want us to wait until after the semi final so he can't play?
Batman Posted 22 January, 2017 Posted 22 January, 2017 (edited) Have you considered their intention might be to get Sakho and Liverpool want us to wait until after the semi final so he can't play? what we could have done, we sell Fonte on Thursday. Regardless if anything else. we are a hell of a lot weaker with Yoshida and Stephens at the back if VvD is out. To the game, We will need to score at the very least 1 goal, more like at least 2. seems like we have found where the net is. if VvD is out injured, do not fancy our chances what so ever. He is our one and only x-factor and a team like us, needs that in such big games. I prey we do not 'rotate' out our better players (mainly defenders). No need what so ever. Forster Cedric VvD (hopefully) Yoshida Bertrand Rom Davis JwP/Clasie Tadic Rodriguez Redmond Edited 22 January, 2017 by Batman
Supersubpuckett Posted 22 January, 2017 Posted 22 January, 2017 sadly I think Liverpool will 'react' to their defeat against Swansea and will beat us comfortably
Heisenberg Posted 22 January, 2017 Posted 22 January, 2017 Thinking just that myself more lies from liar les Window isnt shut yet so technically he hasnt fully lied If VVD misses midweek then replacing before selling (lack of) will bite us and him
Viking Saint Posted 22 January, 2017 Posted 22 January, 2017 what we could have done, we sell Fonte on Thursday. Dusic Posted 22 January, 2017 Posted 22 January, 2017 Puel has already said it isn't possible for the same team to play twice in 3 days, so there will be a couple of changes at least regardless of VVD availability. Would hope Jay stays in ahead of Long but would bring Davis in for Hojbjerg if available. Good to keep JWP in following his best performance for a year or so but not if it means him and Clasie together as those two plus Romeu just doesn't work as we lack any mobility from that area. Wonder when we might see Boufal again?
beatlesaint Posted 22 January, 2017 Posted 22 January, 2017 Have you considered their intention might be to get Sakho and Liverpool want us to wait until after the semi final so he can't play? I have considered that and I also considered the thought they could have kept Fonte another week, but no, we are left short potentially just before the biggest match of the season. Just brilliant.
VectisSaint Posted 22 January, 2017 Posted 22 January, 2017 Have you considered their intention might be to get Sakho and Liverpool want us to wait until after the semi final so he can't play? Of course, having not played a pro game since last season (except PL2) we would sign him and he would walk straight into the team for a semi-final. It really makes you wonder what planet some people inhabit.
Saint_lambden Posted 22 January, 2017 Posted 22 January, 2017 If all are fit, I'd go with: ------------------------------Forster------------------------- --Cedric------------Yoshi-------------VVD------Bertrand--- ------------Clasie---------Davis---------Romeu----------- ----------Redmond--------Rodriguez-------Tadic--------- Subs: Taylor, Stephens, McQueen, JWP, Hojbjerg, Sims, Long Gonna be a loooooooooooooooooong 90 (or 120) minutes!
Whitey Grandad Posted 22 January, 2017 Posted 22 January, 2017 They let in three yesterday and we scored three today. Obviously we are going to win 3-0
Forester Posted 22 January, 2017 Posted 22 January, 2017 Assuming VVD is fit I would make two changes. Long in for Tadic (expecting we will be counter attacking) and Clasie in for PEH
SaintAndy14 Posted 22 January, 2017 Posted 22 January, 2017 Really have no idea what to expect, a bit like the 1st leg! Very difficult to make a prediction as we have been so inconsistent lately and it depends which Liverhampton team shows up.
Mattio Posted 22 January, 2017 Posted 22 January, 2017 If all are fit, I'd go with: ------------------------------Forster------------------------- --Cedric------------Yoshi-------------VVD------Bertrand--- ------------Clasie---------Davis---------Romeu----------- ----------Redmond--------Rodriguez-------Tadic--------- Subs: Taylor, Stephens, McQueen, JWP, Hojbjerg, Sims, Long Gonna be a loooooooooooooooooong 90 (or 120) minutes! Personally I'd play 11 men, but that's just me Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
View From The Top Posted 22 January, 2017 Posted 22 January, 2017 This could easily go either way. We are capable of getting the result and going through and just as capable of self destructing in spectacular fashion. However, with the whingers, moaners and morons not being ar_sed to make the trip it does mean those of us there will be totally behind whatever team the manager puts out.
Batman Posted 22 January, 2017 Posted 22 January, 2017 Personally I'd play 11 men, but that's just me Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk how many do you think he picked?
simo Posted 22 January, 2017 Posted 22 January, 2017 I honestly think so much depends on VVD being able to play Strap him up pump him with painkillers and get him on that pitch !

That's somewhat different to actually signed, isn't it?
rick1976.4.38 Posted 22 January, 2017 Posted 22 January, 2017 get just one goal and they'll need three come on saints we can do this utfs

sfc4prem Posted 22 January, 2017 Posted 22 January, 2017 I have considered that and I also considered the thought they could have kept Fonte another week, but no, we are left short potentially just before the biggest match of the season. Just brilliant. Fonte wouldn't have played anyway even if he were here still.
Saint_clark Posted 22 January, 2017 Posted 22 January, 2017 Hoping Davis and Van Dijk are fit. Stick Davis in for Hojberg and keep the rest of the team the same please.
saint si Posted 22 January, 2017 Posted 22 January, 2017 Fonte wouldn't have played anyway even if he were here still. This, and the completely mad idea of shoving a new signing in to the defence and suddenly expecting them to perform seamlessly with the rest of the side.
Baird of the land Posted 22 January, 2017 Posted 22 January, 2017 i'd like to see clasie come in personally. Obviously big questions as to what we do if van dijk is out. Do we switch to 5 at the back with Bertrand at CB or go with yoshi/Stephens partnership.
LGTL Posted 22 January, 2017 Posted 22 January, 2017 The team is pretty easy if VVD is fit (if he isn't I'd be tempted to play Bertrand at CB and McQueen LB) Forster Cedric VVD Yoshida Bertrand Romeu Davis JWP/Clasie Tadic Redmond Rodriguez
mrfahaji Posted 22 January, 2017 Posted 22 January, 2017 If VvD is out, how about Bertrand at CB with Yoshida and McQueen at LB?? I don't think we should play with 2 left backs.
fanimal Posted 22 January, 2017 Posted 22 January, 2017 Good grief, how could you possibly consider dropping JWP after a MOTM performance today and replace him with Clasie or an unfit SD. Mad.
Shance Posted 22 January, 2017 Posted 22 January, 2017 I'm really bricking it about this game. I think we can do it but Liverpool will be a different animal this time. I know they are in a bad run of form atm BUT, Coutinho is back fit and will probably start, Henderson who has been immense for them so far this season is back and Firmino is being played in the false 9 position which he flourish's in. It's going to be a really tough evening but if we play like we can then we can do it!!! I just hope some of the misses from the first leg don't come back to bite us on the arse. A nice early Saints goal will do just nicely please.
saintant Posted 22 January, 2017 Posted 22 January, 2017 I think we'll need to score so hopefully Puel will set us up to do our fair share of attacking when we get the chance. The worst thing we can do is to sit behind the ball and invite them on to us because that will be a suicidal approach. Give them plenty to worry about as defensively they really aren't that great as proved by Swansea, Bournemouth and others - you have to have a go at them because they have major mistakes in their back line and goalkeeper (whichever one they pick)
Lukee Posted 22 January, 2017 Posted 22 January, 2017 If we high press like we did for a majority of this game then we'll have no problems. We got caught on a couple of breaks early on from hanging on to possession but I reckon our passing has gotten faster and crisper lately. Liverpool will struggle to deal with it. Nice early goal and we're in control.
Scoobysaint Posted 22 January, 2017 Posted 22 January, 2017 I think that we can do it even if VVD is out. They are not the same team without Mane. It's all static and predictable. Since he went to AFCON they have crumbled.
Mattio Posted 22 January, 2017 Posted 22 January, 2017 how many do you think he picked? That's odd on my phone it didn't show Bertrand... Another bug to add to the endless list for Tapatalk.
austsaint Posted 22 January, 2017 Posted 22 January, 2017 I honestly think so much depends on VVD being able to play Commentators were saying it was just a knock and he'll be fine, but it looked like a decent twist/sprain of the ankle - the odds must be agin him getting up for Wednesday.
Saint Garrett Posted 22 January, 2017 Author Posted 22 January, 2017 Commentators were saying it was just a knock and he'll be fine, but it looked like a decent twist/sprain of the ankle - the odds must be agin him getting up for Wednesday. Wasn't that...Vardy stamped on him!!
Lets B Avenue Posted 22 January, 2017 Posted 22 January, 2017 This, and the completely mad idea of shoving a new signing in to the defence and suddenly expecting them to perform seamlessly with the rest of the side. And also any new signing could not play in the 2nd leg (even if he wasn't cup tied) if they signed after the 1st leg had been played.

Shance Posted 23 January, 2017 Posted 23 January, 2017 Vardy is a ****ing little rat. Deserves a retrospective red for that stamp. Little tosser. Had to be in that game as well didn't it!
musesaint Posted 23 January, 2017 Posted 23 January, 2017 Vardy is a ****ing little rat. Deserves a retrospective red for that stamp. Little tosser. Had to be in that game as well didn't it! Totally agree. Certainly not the first time he's been involved in something like that

Pamplemousse Posted 23 January, 2017 Posted 23 January, 2017 Liverpool fans are not confident. Swansea more or less copied our tactics and they're worried teams have got them sussed out. Henderson and Clyne have knocks as well so they're doubtful.
