Batman Posted 18 January, 2017 Posted 18 January, 2017 sounded like a right Fecking treat House of fun is St Mary's
Pamplemousse Posted 18 January, 2017 Posted 18 January, 2017 There were obviously some very good individual performances. McQueen in particular, and Sims. Redmond seemed lively when he came on too. We were the only team looking to win, and we finally managed to break down a team who comes to park the bus. Leicester is a MUST WIN
saint97 Posted 18 January, 2017 Posted 18 January, 2017 Feel as unenthusiastic about this team as Puel sounds in an interview at the moment... so terrible once again. Sam McQueen the only half decent player.
trousers Posted 18 January, 2017 Posted 18 January, 2017 (edited) Sounds like Sims and McQueen were our best players. Lots of pressure from us in the last 10 minutes finally paid dividends. Dull stalemate for the rest of the match though. Oh well. A win's a win. Round 4 here we come The cup double is still on...!! Edited 18 January, 2017 by trousers
Saints foreva Posted 18 January, 2017 Posted 18 January, 2017 Glad I didn't go. Sounds like the club overcharged at £12.
Heisenberg Posted 18 January, 2017 Posted 18 January, 2017 Only 9 fans left in the ground when we scored. Hope a couple post on here
Bad Wolf Posted 18 January, 2017 Posted 18 January, 2017 Never have I been so bored listening to a Saints game. It comes to something when the highlight of the game is the fact that all four players in our double substitution's names started with the same letter. We got there in the end though, I really didn't want to be put through another half an hour of that.
saintant Posted 18 January, 2017 Posted 18 January, 2017 zzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzz x fifty billion. Puel, the man who is slowly boring the life out of Southampton Football Club and is leading us to lose our reputation for playing good football.
DT Posted 18 January, 2017 Posted 18 January, 2017 Hope they get up for Arsenal. At least we're through. But when, oh, when will we get a performance? Need new blood in many areas, priority being manager.
Pamplemousse Posted 18 January, 2017 Posted 18 January, 2017 Hope they get up for Arsenal. At least we're through. But when, oh, when will we get a performance? Need new blood in many areas, priority being manager. Last Wednesday?
Manuel Posted 18 January, 2017 Posted 18 January, 2017 Struggling to break down a team who park the bus again, no matter what division they're in. No change there. Still need a striker.
Baird of the land Posted 18 January, 2017 Posted 18 January, 2017 Got the result we needed whilst saving players for next 2 games even if it wasn't a particularly good display. Liverpool barely squeezed past Plymouth over 2 legs. Sounded like Redmond had an impact off the bench and mcqueen sounded one of the better performers. Good to see long get a goal, hopefully it'll help his confidence. Good experience for the other youngsters too.
saintant Posted 18 January, 2017 Posted 18 January, 2017 Things you'll never hear in the same sentence..."Claude Puel" and "exciting football"
Jonnyboy Posted 18 January, 2017 Posted 18 January, 2017 Last Wednesday? Been to only three matches this season, two we've played really well.
Fitzhugh Fella Posted 18 January, 2017 Posted 18 January, 2017 Last Wednesday? Puel quick to his computer?
Saints foreva Posted 18 January, 2017 Posted 18 January, 2017 Last Wednesday? Counts for nothing if we lose next Wednesday, which we will if we perform like we have done for the majority of this season.
Viking Saint Posted 18 January, 2017 Posted 18 January, 2017 Winning goal?? That'll be Shlong dropped for the next game then.....
mrfahaji Posted 18 January, 2017 Posted 18 January, 2017 Sounded dire but we won while playing a weakened side. That's something at least. I think the presence of Arsenal waiting in the next round just made this game feel like a pointless exercise, but at the same time losing would have been embarrassing.
Pamplemousse Posted 18 January, 2017 Posted 18 January, 2017 Counts for nothing if we lose next Wednesday, which we will if we perform like we have done for the majority of this season. That wasn't the point. The point that he made was the lack of performance, when we put in a superb performance just 7 days ago! Now we need another one on Saturday. Leicester is a massive game.
Greenridge Posted 18 January, 2017 Posted 18 January, 2017 When's Austin back fit? Fit? Not sure he's ever been truly fit looking at his career to date but as for his latest injury maybe he'll get a few games in before the end of the season.

Pass the Dutchie Posted 18 January, 2017 Posted 18 January, 2017 It wasn't the prettiest goal by the sound of it, but I hope it does something for Long. Open the floodgates!
eurosaint Posted 18 January, 2017 Posted 18 January, 2017 Only one team looking to win this, Norwich played about 6 at the back for most of the match ! McQ MoM, Sims and Stephens did well. JWP, Clasie and Yosh competent ! Almost everyone stayed till the end, don't understand some of the previous comments! Bring on the Gooners !
Pamplemousse Posted 18 January, 2017 Posted 18 January, 2017 And if we draw or lose? I'm not going to advocate sacking the manager if that's what you mean. But we need to arrest our poor league form, and that in itself is a reason why we need 3 points.
Greenridge Posted 18 January, 2017 Posted 18 January, 2017 The point that he made was the lack of performance, when we put in a superb performance just 7 days ago! And before that, when was the last 'superb' performance?
Patrick Bateman Posted 18 January, 2017 Posted 18 January, 2017 If you can't say anything nice, don't bother saying anything, as they say. So I'll just say "we won".
Pamplemousse Posted 18 January, 2017 Posted 18 January, 2017 And before that, when was the last 'superb' performance? Bournemouth probably. Maybe not quite as good, as it took them scoring for us to start performing.
Saints foreva Posted 18 January, 2017 Posted 18 January, 2017 And before that, when was the last 'superb' performance? Bournemouth away is the only one that springs to mind. Can't recall too many at home in the league.
Viking Saint Posted 18 January, 2017 Posted 18 January, 2017 It wasn't the prettiest goal by the sound of it, but I hope it does something for Long. Open the floodgates! He won't get the chance...he'll be 'rotated' next game
Pamplemousse Posted 18 January, 2017 Posted 18 January, 2017 Bournemouth away is the only one that springs to mind. Can't recall too many at home in the league. Sparta Prague at home? Inter Milan (the second half at least, as we were 1-0 down) Arsenal away in the EFL Cup
Greenridge Posted 18 January, 2017 Posted 18 January, 2017 Bournemouth away is the only one that springs to mind. Can't recall too many at home in the league. That's the real point I guess.
trousers Posted 18 January, 2017 Posted 18 January, 2017 http://www.bbc.co.uk/sport/live/football/38532506 Video of the Long goal is at the top Wow. Great play from Sam to get the cross in. The one silver lining on today's cloudy performance.
Pilchards Posted 18 January, 2017 Posted 18 January, 2017 http://www.bbc.co.uk/sport/live/football/38532506 Video of the Long goal is at the top Thats the highlights!!!
Badger Posted 18 January, 2017 Posted 18 January, 2017 http://www.bbc.co.uk/sport/live/football/38532506 Video of the Long goal is at the top Did his best to f^ck it up
Pilchards Posted 18 January, 2017 Posted 18 January, 2017 Also love the way the official celebrated the goal too so he would not have to do another 30 minutes.
Gunnery Posted 18 January, 2017 Posted 18 January, 2017 WE MARCH ON! Wasn't pretty, didn't expect it to be with two bodged teams playing each other. Job done, happy days!
Pamplemousse Posted 18 January, 2017 Posted 18 January, 2017 Interestingly, that's now 7 straight home games that we have scored exactly one goal. And that run started, coincidentally, when Austin got injured. Pretty poor from the board that we haven't signed a striker yet.
Mr X Posted 18 January, 2017 Posted 18 January, 2017 even the solent commentators said we play sleep inducing football, we got a slice of luck at the end but tbh our performance didn't deserve the win.
Gunnery Posted 18 January, 2017 Posted 18 January, 2017 zzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzz x fifty billion. Puel, the man who is slowly boring the life out of Southampton Football Club and is leading us to lose our reputation for playing good football. If you truly believe that it is all down to Claude Puel, then you are an extremely naive and deluded soul.
S-Clarke Posted 18 January, 2017 Posted 18 January, 2017 An absolute load of garbage. Should be giving out refunds for that horrendous load of ****.
Norm Posted 18 January, 2017 Posted 18 January, 2017 Pleased we won. Worried at the following stat', 187 changes to his starting 11 in his 32 games in charge. Gosh!
SKD Posted 18 January, 2017 Posted 18 January, 2017 Winning ugly - sign of a very, very good team. post of the day, very good sir.
