DuncanRG Posted 11 January, 2017 Posted 11 January, 2017 As per interview in Wednesday's Times. Pochettino called him after the Bournemouth game and they still seem very close. “He knows how much I appreciate what he has done and what he still does for me. He constantly speaks to me. He is still supporting me and his staff are the same. He is an unbelievable manager and a person.” Other tidbits: - Shrugs off Fonte business. "Things change in football" - "If we focus on what we can do and work hard we won’t go wrong because we have got enough talent in the squad.” - Lallana is “a very humble guy to have this amazing talent”

He always comes across as a very genuine and humble person. I really hope he can get back to being the player he was before that terrible injury. A couple of goals for him tonight would be very warmly appreciated by everyone in the football world.
Appy Posted 11 January, 2017 Posted 11 January, 2017 I find it very hard to dislike Pochettino, unlike some of our former managers.
Pamplemousse Posted 11 January, 2017 Posted 11 January, 2017 This bit as well is interesting He says there are similarities with Puel who, despite an understated and quiet media demeanour, is apparently rather different on the training ground. “You hear him shouting if he is angry - he can lose it sometimes,” says Rodriguez. “I have had different managers in my career and you just try to learn as much as you can from each of them; it’s different formations, different philosophies and rotations. We are getting to grips with it. It’s all new stuff. You adapt and improve. It’s good.”
saintwbu Posted 11 January, 2017 Posted 11 January, 2017 I find it very hard to dislike Pochettino, unlike some of our former managers. I agree to an extent, now that the dust has settled I don't find myself wanting him to fail, just his team because they are all dirty, petulant ****s
Pamplemousse Posted 11 January, 2017 Posted 11 January, 2017 I find it very hard to dislike Pochettino, unlike some of our former managers. I never really warmed to him whilst he was in here anyway. The way he arrived was disgraceful (although not really his fault) and the angriest I've ever been about anything in football ever.
DuncanRG Posted 11 January, 2017 Author Posted 11 January, 2017 This bit as well is interesting Hmm, I've not got that in the version I'm reading.
baggytrousers Posted 11 January, 2017 Posted 11 January, 2017 Hmm, I've not got that in the version I'm reading. It's in the Telegraph version.
beatlesaint Posted 11 January, 2017 Posted 11 January, 2017 I was fine with it until the bit about Nivea Boy being a humble guy ! Not how he comes across in the slightest.
John B Posted 11 January, 2017 Posted 11 January, 2017 I was fine with it until the bit about Nivea Boy being a humble guy ! Not how he comes across in the slightest. But Jrod knows him you probably dont and you may have an agenda.
Saint Garrett Posted 11 January, 2017 Posted 11 January, 2017 I find it very hard to dislike Pochettino, unlike some of our former managers. Yeah agree, probably because he is such a fabulous manager and his teams are great to watch - and I hate Spurs.
SKD Posted 11 January, 2017 Posted 11 January, 2017 IMO the best manager / coach we've had. Unbelievable how he improved and turned championship players in to top 6 PL players and he really gave Koeman the spring board to push us on. No discredit to Nigel, but we really wouldn't be where we are now (or last season) if it wasn't for Pochettino. Apparently a really decent bloke as well! I know Les is very fond of him as where all of the staff at the training ground / stadium.
Saints Fan Dan Posted 11 January, 2017 Posted 11 January, 2017 Yeah I like Poch too. Likeable, intelligent fella and an excellent manager. Bit crap when he left us, especially the way it was so obvious he was going to but whatever. Lallana, Lovren and Koeman behaved far worse. I think that photo with him Adkins, Koeman and Katarina made me (and a lot of other fans) think, yeah fair play to him.
Saint IQ Posted 11 January, 2017 Posted 11 January, 2017 I like Poch, yet his press conferences were and are nearly as boring as Puels. That doesn't matter to me though as long as the football is good which at times this season it hasn't been, then again in certain games in Poch's time here it was just as bad, normally against the teams outside the top 6. Main difference for me this season is with Poch and Koeman you always felt we had a decent chance in games against the top 6, whereas this season you feel we might get a draw but that'll be it.
angelman Posted 11 January, 2017 Posted 11 January, 2017 I think it was good of Levy to insist he spoke English. Speaking through an interpreter meant that there was always a barrier.
Heisenberg Posted 11 January, 2017 Posted 11 January, 2017 So Jay still speaks to Mopo and rates him as the best and VVD still speaks to Koeman and rates him as the best. Not seen a massive amount of gushing over Puel just yet - or would that typically follow after he has left?
Saint_Ash Posted 11 January, 2017 Posted 11 January, 2017 So Jay still speaks to Mopo and rates him as the best and VVD still speaks to Koeman and rates him as the best. Not seen a massive amount of gushing over Puel just yet - or would that typically follow after he has left? Henry said he was great. HTH
Secret Site Agent Posted 11 January, 2017 Posted 11 January, 2017 So Jay still speaks to Mopo and rates him as the best and VVD still speaks to Koeman and rates him as the best. Not seen a massive amount of gushing over Puel just yet - or would that typically follow after he has left? Yes. JWP will be nominated to gush after Puel when he has left. It's the cab rank system I think you'll find. Well done for changing your Avatar. I love you too........and might not gloss over your posts so quickly. I think Jrod comes across as quite genuine and I too hope he gets back to his former glory.
Mallagroth Posted 11 January, 2017 Posted 11 January, 2017 Shame that today was when the press ran with the article though, what with a big game on and all that.
ALWAYS_SFC Posted 11 January, 2017 Posted 11 January, 2017 Shame that today was when the press ran with the article though, what with a big game on and all that. What real difference will a newspaper article make to tonight ?
DuncanRG Posted 11 January, 2017 Author Posted 11 January, 2017 Shame that today was when the press ran with the article though, what with a big game on and all that. You can blame the club for that one, if you think it's an issue. Not got a problem myself.
davefizzy14 Posted 11 January, 2017 Posted 11 January, 2017 A very good article. I read the actual paper version and its a great interview with Jay Rod. The bit that stands out for me is when he talks about it being "our time to start to start winning things" come on Jay Rod smash in a couple tonight and fire us one step closer to the final! COYR
hughieslastminutegoal Posted 11 January, 2017 Posted 11 January, 2017 I never really warmed to him whilst he was in here anyway. The way he arrived was disgraceful (although not really his fault) and the angriest I've ever been about anything in football ever. The angriest ever? Really? You have led a sheltered football supporting life haven't you.
CB Fry Posted 11 January, 2017 Posted 11 January, 2017 The angriest ever? Really? You have led a sheltered football supporting life haven't you. I cant think of anything else that has made me angrier in over thirty years of following Saints.
Bad Wolf Posted 11 January, 2017 Posted 11 January, 2017 I really like Poch. I know I'm not meant to but actually, I have no reason not to like him. Still speaks very highly of us, did well here, went to a bigger job. He waited till the end of the season after Cortese left. I've never understood why we have so much malice toward him. He left us with far more dignity than Koeman.
Convict Colony Posted 11 January, 2017 Posted 11 January, 2017 "Best man he's every worked with" His physio has got to be ****ed off.
