Lallana's Left Peg Posted 5 January, 2017 Share Posted 5 January, 2017 Adam Blackmore replying to someone on Twitter RE Les: "to be fair, he gets criticised for not speaking when things are happening & spin when he does - take your choice" What he said in public wouldn't be labelled as spin if any of it ever actually happened. As others have pointed out he has unfortunately made significant statements in the past that have been followed by the opposite happening. I have no doubt he has the best of intentions of course but it doesn't reflect very well on him when it goes balls up. I'd prefer he kept his mouth shut unless he knew he was in complete control of the situation and quite clearly he talks about things he cannot control or influence to his satisfaction. However, with that said, in this case I do not blame him for coming out and saying this. He's backed Fonte into a corner and if what he says is correct it's a fair thing to come out and say. Jonnyboy Posted 5 January, 2017 Share Posted 5 January, 2017 Lol, his press release for the Company (Southampton FC) should actually say: 6th is as high as we'll ever get, we have no innovative scouting methods, our manager was third choice on an average list, and all of our players and coaches would leave if offered better money elsewhere. That would go down well with the fanbase

For a sports teacher from Wapping with no experience of top flight football his meteoric ascendency is the stuff of fairytales - he's an erstwhile working class hero! He has managed to galvanise a section of the SFC fanbase from league one standard happy clappers to Europa League standard fluffers, an incredible achievement in such a short timescale. Saints4Prem Posted 5 January, 2017 Share Posted 5 January, 2017 After what he has done for Southampton FC I hope Les Reed stays as long as possible. He has done far more good than bad and I just do not understand so called Saints fans hoping for the wheel to come off and the club to go t*ts up so you can all say "I told you so". Lets hope Les shows every again how well he is running the whole show and we maintain our progress. Is it rude to refer to the ones who keep getting egg on their face as omelettes? View From The Top Posted 5 January, 2017 Share Posted 5 January, 2017 Ahhh, the Cult of Cortese devotees are out in force ignoring the debt he ran up and the fact he flogged AoC and was going to flog SRL to West Ham. If he was such a fantastic CEO why isn't he involved in football now? Great at spunking other peoples money and getting brand specialists to give us a black and silver badge and mock up the developed ground but not that great that anyone else wants to employ him. I'm no lover of Les, he's spouted to much bull for that, but the idea that Cortese would have allowed us to win the league as LCFC did is utter pony but since quite a lot on here are only slightly brighter than a turd I shouldn't be surprised. Heisenberg Posted 5 January, 2017 Share Posted 5 January, 2017 Cortese knew fu ck all about football. Which was probably his biggest asset. People that have been in the game for years think they know it all and will follow the same tired and predictable paths. Nic was unconventional in his approach, didn't respect the football hierarchy like Les does and was a determined winner and wanted the same for us. He wasnt satisfied with making up the numbers and this eventually cost him his job. Like iy or not Cortese has been the biggest influence on our success last 7 years and his vision and culture is still playing out (black box, academy)
