Loyalty implies rejecting better offers, of which Jose has had none. Until now, when he promptly throws his toys out the pram, same as anyone else and demands a transfer.

It's nothing to do with " knowing about football " and all to do with knowing how transfers work. Who knows how transfers work in the professional game,a tit like Townsend whose an expro that's been transferred half a dozen times or a tit like you who posts on an Internet forum?

Steve Stammers whose name is on the Mirror article is on about the same accuracy level as Alex Crook.

 

I don't see Fonte at Liverpool myself. They already have Matip and Lovren, plus they recently signed Klavan and have Joe Gomez who is very promising. They would need to sell one of those to buy and older player with limited shelf-life. Don't see it myself.

Thats not good enough if you want to compete for the title tho but i dont see Liverpool coming for Fonte as well. In fact i dont see any big club coming for him, it just doesnt really make sense for them if you ask me.

Well, I would argue that any tit knows more about transfers than Andy ****ing Townsend. Even you. Just because he's an ex pro (and former Saint even though he is in denial about the latter) doesn't mean he knows how things are working with Fonte, things have changed a helluvalot in the 20 years or so since he retired. I wouldn't have made a point if you had quoted anyone else that I can think of by the way.

After today's result, it wouldn't surprise me if Man City put an offer in for Fonte. He could at least help get John Stones organised, and City would be able to afford to give Fonte the contract he wants.

It would appear that Black won so I guess we'll see Cedric following Fonte out of the door in the summer.

i heard about it yesterday, about an alleged training ground bust up between the 3 of them. As far as I aware it was some weeks ago and Fonte wanted him out

I always thought Black was an odd appointment given his recent history at Villa, if we wanted an interpreter (again) then get a specialist in and a better coach or whatever his title is. Will always be training ground bust ups but Black just doesn't seem to connect with us, I hope our next management team have a better charisma about them than this boring lot, although all will be forgiven if we have good run of results.

Shout out to Jason McCarthy scored again on the weekend for Walsall, 3 goals now.

 

no main reason other than he gets no love on here when Sam G does.

 

I looked for a thread in Saturday but he didnt have a suitable one for me to post in.

 

Think he's playing right-back for them.

Don't forget he was also assistant manager at Blackburn when they were relegated from the Prem. With the rest of his 'pedigree' being assistant or caretaker at Sunderland, Birmingham, and Rotherham, and 'consultant' at Blackpool, I really don't see what he brings to the table.

very audibly questioning the "attitude" of certain players (more than one) and pointing in players faces at close proximity, I'm talking about extremely senior INTERNATIONAL players,

that shouldn't be happening full stop.

 

I think if Puel is sacked, and I'm not saying he will be, but if he is, there will be a whole bunch of players going for Blacks head.

 

Not one player, that I know of or have heard of, has an issue with Claude Puel. It's all Black.

Wasn't Kelvin meant to have had a player- liaison sort of role ? Even without that I can't believe the rumoured issues with Black have not been brought to the attention of the hierarchy (Reed at least).

Back to Fonte.

 

The options are increasingly looking pretty thin on the ground for Jose. Be interesting if he doesn't get a move whether he'll be prepared to knuckle down and contribute to the remainder of the season. We will certainly need him with our lack of depth in that department.

Surely Les & powers above are aware of this ? what are they doing about it? players have all the power these days so surely players and agents are making noise about it ?

Have heard, via the friend of an agent that Fonte was desperate to go. Wages not horrendous either. Looking for 2.5 years @ £70k p/w.

 

Not sure how much truth, but if so maybe it's all about that extra year.

Nothing to do with money or contract he and black didn't and wouldn't see eye to eye and from what i hear its not just fonte
